This Publix is usually very good about making subs in a timely manner, and if they are unable to fill your request due to lack of ingredients, will call you. I was a little bit disappointed when I showed up to pick up my Publix sub that I paid for online and it was not ready nor did I receive any missed call from the deli. I understand that they are busy and have high demands, but I will not be paying ahead in the app anymore for this specific reason. I had a really great experience at the deli at Publix. The associate who made my sub clearly took pride in his work. He didn't just throw the ingredients together--he was careful, thoughtful, and made sure everything was put together just right. It's rare to see that level of care for something as simple as making a sandwich, but it made a big difference. The deli was recommended by a friend so we decided to pick up some sandwiches on our way back to the hotel. The store itself was clean and beautiful and located in a very nice area; however, this review solely lies with our customer service experience with Hunter in the Deli Dept. Hunter was not very friendly and it appeared as they were closing up the deli for the night. When I walked up to the counter I greeted him and asked if they were closing and he said no (no greeting from him nor asked what he could get us). I told him my order and he did not smile once nor make eye contact. My friend placed his order and same thing. Hunter looked like he did not want to be there and appeared irritated by having customers (us). I understand if he was tired and had a long day and ready to go home, but he is in customer service and should treat customers better. As for the sandwiches, they use Boarhead meats and were very good, better than Subway and have higher quality ingredients. Prices were right under 10 bucks for a footlong and filling. read more

This is pie go-to Publix. Like most Publix, even though it's relatively new, it looks like it's been there since the 90s on the inside. This is a smaller store so their if you are looking for specialty things, you aren't going to find them here. The pharmacy staff here is good and this is where we get everything filled. Very clean Publix compared to the university one in DTSP. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because it's a smaller Publix so there isn't a lot of variety or items as the larger Publix. I went on a Saturday around 10am and it wasn't crowded at all. No lines by the cashier register. I love the parking garage. My car is covered during rainy days and stays cool in the hot days. The other Publix has an outside open parking and it's always crowded with cars. This garage is huge and there's always spots to park near the elevators. I don't like waiting for the elevators but it's not a big deal. Great location, clean store, friendly people. read more

Today in, Horror Stories from this God Forsaken Deli.. There's no line. I think to myself, this deli is hell on earth but the subs are on sale. No line, what could possibly go wrong?? I walk up, I'm ignored for 5mins while the workers chit chat and only make online orders. One of them couldn't greet me??? They finally acknowledge me, start my sub only to stop and start talking to a fellow employee who is off shift and wants a sub. They then, STOP my sub and begin making his. Because this is the world's worst deli, his sub takes an entire 10mins. All the while mine just sits. While I'm waiting 2other people get in line, they are also ignored. I'm now at about 20mins after getting in an empty line and still no sub. This is followed by confusion when they make the sub for the guy behind me because what, the sub sitting on the counter looked finished?? I'm now at 27 minutes, 2 ppl who were not ahead of me have subs and the workers wander off to help the other part of the deli. I cannot express in sufficient language how frustrating this is!! Wtf is wrong with this place???? Where the f is the manager??? Do they not care? Are they in the back taking bets on when one of us is going to have a meltdown on a viral level after being subjected to the worst customer service of all time? Finally got to try this publix. It has a parking garage attached so you can park and take the elevator to the first floor. There were some great BOGOs when I was there. I got BOGO six pack of evian water and bogo garlic bread. Very nice and clean store. The cashier and bagger were both really nice. I want to go back their sushi area. read more

Whether you're grabbing cold cuts or a pub sub the department is very slow and can take a really long time. This Publix is also relatively small meaning that they don't have all the items that other regular sized Publix's have. I will say that the staff was always super nice, especially Boris! read more

A high-class Publix in the heart of the city. I literally did not mean to go to Publix. I was early for a dinner so I decided to walk around a bit and ran smack dab into this building. I didn't even know there was a Publix in this area! Jokes on me, because this Publix is awesome! You can tell it is new. Everything looks, smells, and feels new. They've pulled out all the stops. Are you a busy on the go downtown professional? They have grab and go two for $5 ready made food options! They have make it a meal packs already created! You can easily stop here and grab lunch/dinner. I was also impressed by their hippyish options (honestly, that is not the best way to put it, but brands I associate with Whole Foods and Rollin Oats were peppered throughout the store). Don't think they skimped on BOGO, just because they are in demand. I walked up and down the aisles and saw tons of BOGO deals. This isn't the biggest Publix in the world, but if you aren't looking for an obscure ingredient (I'm looking at you Black Sesame Powder) then you'll probably find what you need here. This is the worst Publix I have ever been to, and probably the slowest grocery store in general. I have never just left a cart of groceries and walked out of a store before but I was the closest I have ever been to doing this today. The customers - super slow. Starting with me trying to grab some produce when I first walked in. A guy was blocking the only bag stand, moving at the pace of an elderly snail, blocking basically the entire area between his cart and body. And he wasn't the only one. Every customer, young, old, in between, was just completely oblivious to everyone else there. Everything I tried to access was blocked, and I'm pretty sure everyone was deaf too because when I said "excuse me" they didn't even look at me. And the deli counter. OMFG. Two people working the deli counter, one person in front of me, and it took 20 minutes for me to get 1/2 a pound of one meat. They have a lot of prepared foods and I was like "oh cool this is nice. I haven't seen half of this stuff at either of my two normal Publix". But they made up for it in the lack of variety of everything else. The bakery is TINY. And they may as well not even have an international foods "section" because it's basically soy sauce and old El Paso garbage. Checking out also took forever. Then, of course, the chicken labels were not correct so they had to print out a receipt to save my order while someone took the chicken back to the meat department for re-labeling. This is the second point where I almost just abandoned my groceries. It never takes me longer than 30 minutes to get my groceries. Not even the dreaded "thanksgiving trip". But it took me 50 minutes to get in and out of this tiny establishment. I get that it's downtown so it's a different focus than most, but even the other one downtown is mostly comparable to the ones more in suburbia. If I lived across the street from here, I would literally walk to the one on 2nd Ave just to avoid this nightmare. read more

The store had been open only a couple of weeks but I visited and wrote this review. It is smaller than the typical strip Mall Publix but a little bigger ban the downtown store. Of course everything is new and shiny. There is more prepared food to go then I've seen it any other Publix. And they have managed to make it feel not crowded despite a smaller than normal size. I recognized several employees who had worked at other Publix stores. So the store has some experience rather than all new hires. Most of the time it will probably be easier to park at this store since it has its own garage versus try to find a parking spot at the 3rd Street store. The garage entrance is from 8th Street which must be approached from the south. Except for the smaller size it is standard Publix fare meaning a clean store, good selection, some services and products others don't offer and attentive employees. read more

This is just a review of the staff. We live within walking distance and make a lot of smaller trips to the store. My toddler loves to bike to the store and getting a cookie from the bakery staff who are always so generous and pleasant and know him and his brother by name. The cashiers Amber and Mario are awesome too, always talking with my sons, giving them stickers and getting to know them. Amber was off duty one day but in the store and gave my son a dollar and he absolutely cherishes it. Everyone is so friendly and my sons just love coming here to pick up things. Worst Publix I've had to shop at. Mainly their deli section. They have so much staff upfront not doing anything and the deli is always backed up with 1 person running the whole thing. This is my local Publix and I go in occasionally to get a sub or lunch meat for a quick lunch and the time it takes to get served is ridiculous. I am a huge fan of Publix grocery stores! This store is no exception! They have street parking as well as a wonderful garage and the elevator takes you right into the store itself. This is a downtown location so the store size is not as large as most Publix locations therefore their variety isn't quite as large as most Publix locations I shop at which is the only reason I am giving 4 stars! Specifically the bakery selection is much smaller and some of the craft beers aren't offered here that I typically like to purchase. However, for regular grocery shopping for everyday items and quick trips, this is a great grocery store and very accessible due to the garage access. The staff are always super friendly and helpful as well. They have a redbox inside as well. They also have a cafeteria area in the front so if you work in the downtown area and want to stop in for a pub sub or quick lunch there is a place to eat in the store verses having to take it back to the office or eating in your car. My first time in this particular Publix. Pros. Clean, friendly, well lit, no lines. Cons: If you drive you park on a separate level and the the elevators are the slowest in the world. I found one major hole which I find at most of the Publix: sugar free Hershey's syrup. Why is this so hard to keep in stock? Finally the worst for last. MR MANAGER: When my deli person weighed out my meat, much of it directly touched the scale platform, off the plastic sheet! One of the many reasons I go to Publix is because of their customer service. I've been to this Publix several times and it never fails to disappoint. I stopped in for some snacks and put my four items on the belt. The employee who was getting rung out in front of me only had one item left, so I didn't bother putting down a divider. The young cashier was talking to her and had his completely turned and took my item and rang it up. No big deal. She told him it wasn't hers and he took it off. Then, he proceeded to talk to the girl bagging the groceries. As I walked up, I smiled and greeted him. No response. The whole time, he doesn't say one word to me and continues to talk to the girl bagging the groceries and then to a young manager who walks behind him who then says "you need to take care of your customer." Still nothing. Then he takes the receipt and holds it straight out without even turning his head my way. I really don't care what you do, as long as you can manage to do your job at the same time. I know on paper having another Publix open less than a mile from another Publix downtown doesn't make the most sense, but the demand is definitely there. Located in the Edge district instead of South Downtown like the other Publix location, this store is made to be walked to. I came here after a run and dinner with a friend to grab a bottle of wine to take home. The store is definitely smaller than your average suburban Publix, but they actually had a massive wine selection! The craft beer selection was pretty good too, which was nice considering a lot of these local breweries call downtown home. The store, as with any Publix, was spotless and shiny, and the customer service was great. I was looking for a specific white wine bottle and rosé bottle, and they eagerly helped me. The bakery section is a bit cramped but still has all the favorites. We ended up grabbing a box of Publix chocolate chip cookies from the bakery. Highly recommended!! I do want to go back for the prepared foods section though! I haven't seen a Publix with this much ready-to-eat food since I was in college at UF in Gainesville. I can see this being a huge draw for all the apartment and condo dwellers downtown as well as the working crowd. A big plus is that there is also seating within the Publix to enjoy your prepared meal. read more

I love this publix! It is close to my house which is great. The people are always lovely and helpful. It is clean and tidy. I park in the garage and go down the elevator to get it, it's nice that my car doesn't have to sit in the sun. They have a good variety of stuff. The only thing is probably the produce section doesn't have a large organic section like some other publix. I may be a bit biased because I'm a 100% publix shopper. Despite the nice and modern look of the building, I was not impressed with the service I was met with inside at the deli. A group of employees, visibly annoyed and chatting amongst themselves, reluctantly took my sub order as I walked up to the sub counter. I didn't want my sub to get soggy at the beach so I decided to alter my typical sandwich order but was met with visible frustration from one of the employees as she sighed loudly when I asked her for mayonnaise on the side. Besides that, barely any of the toppings I requested were placed on my sub and I had to eat a thin and bland sub, an embarrassment for sub sandwiches and the opposite of the satisfaction that Publix lives and strives by. I love Publix but this one they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. Maybe it's because they opened just a few months ago, but it's time for them to get it together. They put buy one get one free stickers on items but the coupon isn't good for another 4 days. They don't take the for sale items down from last week and try to charge you full price. This review is only for the deli. Everyone else I've interacted with in the store has always been helpful and friendly like one is able to take for granted from any Publix. Convenient location, clean. Being born and raised here, I've been going to some Publix or another since before I could walk. Until now, I've frequented this Publix since it's closest to my apartment. But: this is easily, by miles and miles, the rudest, most unhelpful, and just not with-it Publix Deli staff I've ever encountered. Shockingly bad, over many visits (I say this because anyone can have a bad day and I would never hold a single or outlier experience against anyone) and with virtually every person I've interacted with. Deli staff is by turns inattentive, flatly ignoring customers (on numerous occasions I've just stood there while Deli staff went about whatever they were otherwise doing, usually seemingly avoiding eye contact, or completing other tasks i.e. walking to and from the back to restock stuff, which I understand must be done, but they don't even acknowledge you and just go back and forth on multiple trips. All this while I'm either the only person there or maybe one or two other people they also ignore. In other words, they aren't busy helping other customers) or just rude, leaving a customer with the impression that they're an inconvenience by being short, or rolling their eyes, having a snippy attitude, etc etc. Often they are also seemingly just visiting amongst themselves and seem to hope you'll go away if they wait long enough to help you. On one occasion I was trying to get a sub while the deli staff argued with one another (on that occasion I thought there may be a walkout, or that it could come to blows). I nearly always (while they're completing their "tasks") get the impression that they're dragging on with whatever else so that they can avoid me. On another occasion I stood there for several minutes ignored while the sole person back there went about other things. Eventually another customer came up, and when the employee finally decided to help, she ignored me and went straight to the other customer (who also impolitely didn't point out he was after someone). It's all made me feel bad for the one or two actually helpful and hardworking people who've ever helped me at this Deli counter for what it must be like to work back there. Today was it for me and going to this Publix. After putting in a pickup order for a sub (which is the only way I bother to get one from this Deli anymore; btw, they never include the oil and vinegar packets ), I got to the store (about 10 minutes after pickup time) to find it not yet made. I happened to be in a hurry, which wasn't the Deli's fault, but still frustrating to then find it not ready. This has happened here multiple times. I asked about it, politely, but the two women back there looked undeniably annoyed. One of the women grabbed the order ticket from whatever machine it comes through while the other (working on something else) just snapped at her WELL I DIDN'T HEAR IT. The woman who grabbed the ticket then said to me (again, seeming annoyed) "this is a chicken tender sub, we don't have those till 10am". I then asked I think reasonably and definitely calmly: "ok... so why can I order one online for this time? Shouldn't that not be an option?" She then repeated herself, to which I said "ok yeah I understand that, but why can I order it for a certain time if I can't get it at that time?" She then just (still annoyed, clearly) said "well you can take that up with the manager". Which is great. The same helpful attitude we've come to expect from this deli, where shopping is anything but a pleasure. I almost got something else, I needed lunch after all, but I was by now already late and did not want this woman near my food. All the bad reviews for this Publix on this site mention the Deli specifically as their complaint, going back years, so clearly this has been a long-term problem. The buck must stop at whatever Deli manager they have (I haven't actually stopped to take a look if they have the manager's name and picture in the Deli like they do in other departments- they must) and whatever culture they're cultivating back there, and then ultimately the store manager, but as Publixes go it's literally shocking how the Deli staff at this one works/acts, how they have a job with Publix, and if the store managers won't actually do something about it, how they do either. Hopefully they, or ultimately someone higher up in Publix reads this. read more

This store makes zero sense as far as the lay out goes. For THREE floors of parking you would think that the store underneath would be magnificent but it is truly NOTTTTTT. it seems that every area has been significantly scaled down and only the most basic products are in the store. The bakery is the smallest iv ever seen and often has extremely extremely limited selection. I recently went here to purchase only produce, I checked all of my food carefully, but when I got home I discovered that my tomatoes tasted like they were rotten, my preaches were repulsive on the inside (tho nice and firm on the outside) And most of all the salad I bought was a rotten joke in the bag (even tho it looked fine from the outside!!!!). Unusual, similar to the service at the deli, but in this moment I am fully okay with using the cliché that I wish I could leave ZERO stars. A pleasant street corner supermarket reminiscent of other larger cities, complete with an upper level parking garage, the illusion of being in a classy area was quickly replaced with feeling unwelcome, like a tourist in a rundown area of town of an undeveloped country, due to the ill-mannered behavior of the deli sandwich staff. I attempted to be as polite and simple with my order as possible, as those in front of me were greeted with irritation and agitation for asking for certain ingredients for their subs; I could be wrong and may have been impolite and just not realized it but I don't know how that could be true for all 4 of the people in front of me. Even with politeness, unfortunately I was treated with disdain and disregard, and then given a small amount of each topping, as if I didn't deserve it, even though I am paying. I usually love going to Publix as the company maintains high quality in both products and service. But this experience really attempted to shatter that perspective. If it weren't for the fact that was well-stocked (which is to be expected from any store down to a convenience store) and that the cashier staff was very pleasant, asking about our plans and recommending places to visit and even talking about past experiences. Truly a nice end to a horrific visit. However, even in light of this, the sub staff as well as the fact that apparently management is not looking at these reviews gives me enough cause to leave a bad review and express my sorrow for having gone to this Publix location. read more
