I absolutely love attending classes here. The chefs are hilarious and knowledgeable. They really make the whole event fun. If you enjoy food, and especially cooking you will love the classes. This is the only Publix in the state that offers classes at this time, so I feel lucky to have one so close to home read more

Aprons cooking school is amazing!! If you want to expand your cooking knowledge or just want to have a fun night out, then this is for you! We have been to two classes so far and have enjoyed them immensely! The food is great! The Chef's are funny and entertaining and make learning how to cook a blast! Wow, this place is fantastic! We went to their holiday event to learn more about the school and it went above my expectations. From start to finish the staff were so attentive and informative. They offered a nice selection of wine along with samples of dishes they make in some of the classes. Chef Emily did a great demonstration of a recipe we were served and had such great energy! They did a giveaway and I ended up winning a free cooking class which I absolutely cannot wait for! We left with some swag including a lot of Brie from the demo meal which I have been testing out recipes with since we've been home. We will definitely be visiting here again! read more

FYI, because of COVID, participants can't do any cooking in the class right now. We observe the instructors cook. I am curious though how they would allow everyone to cook when COVID is not an issue. There are only two workstations in the classroom to about class size of 15-20 people, so it would be difficult for everyone to get quality learning experience. If you don't really want to learn to cook and would rather watch the instructors prepare you a 4-course meal and give some tips, the class works. At the Global Cuisines class I attended, each participant was served hearty portions of coconut shrimp, stuffed artichoke, pork tenderloin with glazed carrots, and watermelon lime sorbet. The food was really tasty with exception of the artichoke. I learned from watching the chefs how to prepare an artichoke (but it still tasted tough and fibrous?) and use an ice cream maker. We get the recipes to take home to recreate as we wish. I would be remiss to not mention this. They served 3 different kinds of wine paired with our meal, and the wine was in the $20/bottle range. The class is $55/person which I think is fair given we get copious amounts of food and wine. I was disappointed that I couldn't be hands on, but my friends liked that someone else is doing the cooking and they could just watch like a performance. Let me say it for the ones in the back of the app!!! This is it.. what you pay for a regular night out at a fancy restaurant come here for a better price and a amazing experience and fancy at its finest( literally a 4 star meal..should be 5 star)..to me it's the best value hands down( each course came with the wine/we did the4 course wine dinner). They literally teach you every step of the meals and they hand you the recipes and then you can go shop for them in the back of the class..like it don't get no easier and bette. Megan and Emily was the coolest chiefs I've ever meet, that had us dying laughing and at time very focus into what they were demonstrating very thero and detail..we learned a ton and I want to do this every weekend now!" These chiefs being the main reason I would want to come back and the food the second..Again this is a secret I don't need everybody knowing about our spot y'all..it's the special restaurant speakeasie for just us... I can't say enough wonderful things about Publix Aprons cooking school. I challenge you to find a 4 course meal with 2.5 glasses of wine anywhere for $55. Plus you get two hours to learn and ask questions. It's a fantastic venue to go out in a small setting during COVID. read more

Wow this place is amazing! I attended a instructor led class. The instructor was so fun. I highly recommend this place. Just for fun, date nights, happy hour, come for a drink and watch other people cook!!! There were couples there, friends, a father and daughter.....just a great night!!!!! Excellent! What a great experience! Just took my first cooking class at Publix Aprons Cooking School and had the best time. Chef Emily and her staff are so nice, accommodating, and helpful. I have a shrimp allergy and they all ensured the menu was safe for me. Chef Emily was so knowledgeable and so patient with us. The class was informative and educational, yet still lighthearted and fun. I had such a great time! I can't wait to take another class! Highly recommend this for a unique experience. The food we cooked was delicious and the serving sizes were very generous. You could easily spend the same amount of money to just dine at a restaurant, but this way, you have the dining plus the experience. Highly recommend! read more

I was seeking something new for me and my fiancé to do for date night. I came across a Publix couples cooking class in Alabama so I decided to give it a try. I purchased the tickets April 14th, 2022 (I just looked up the receipt) and I just received the money back onto my card (pending) as of today (June 15,2022), sad ... right? So let me back up and fill you all in on the time from when I purchased my tickets until today. The event was suppose to be held on April 19th at 6pm, that afternoon I get a call stating the chef had Covid and the class has been cancelled. At that time I stated I would just like a refund on the class- the person on the phone said "no problem" and that was that (or atleast I thought so). A week or two had past and I check my account with no refund in sight so I contacted the cooking school. At this time I was told that the money was not able to be put back on my account due to the class date already being past. I was told I would have to come to the store and get my money. Which was a hug inconvenience because I do not reside in the Birmingham or surrounding areas. Days turned into weeks and weeks into a month or two at this time. Finally my finance was able to get to the store today (June 15th) only to find out the cooking school wanted to give me a Publix gift card for the amount I paid for the couples cooking class. My fiancé called me and I told him "that was unacceptable as I don't shop at Publix so what good would that do me and Emily knew I was coming to get my money today". After having me on speaker phone going back and forth with Emily, only to listen to her constantly apologizing for what has occurred I received a pending amount on my card. I would like to say since Covid many establishments have lost their professionalism and integrity. My fiancée and I o my received a bunch of excuses of why and never and let us do this for your troubles or hassle. We could have been put the money back on my card over the phone 2 months ago- why did my fiancée have to come to the store?? Gas is too high and distance is not near, this was truly a horrible experience all around for me. I would never recommend this cooking school to anyone as I wouldn't want to be the blame. People need to be held accountable and customers need to be treated better and compensated for waisted time, energy and gas. read more
