I have been renting space from this location since June of 2023. I have been a faithful customer, paying my rent monthly through their automated payment process. I have no issue with the facility manager, the two times I have interacted with him, he has been kind. My storage space is clean. The area is well secured with a gate code, and lot is well kept. My issue is with the larger business model of rent increases. I started with a 1 year contract, paying $150/month. After my 1 year, they have increased my rent 3 different times. $150 -- $190 -- $210 -- $230 -- and now they are asking for $286. For what???? If I were to rent that same space today, it would be $80 a month. Before anything, I attempted to speak to Public Storage this month but have not gotten a call back. This week, I filed a complaint against them on BBB and the process has started. I found out they are not an accredited business by BBB and have had similar complaints, Public Storage as a whole, not just this specific location. I am seeking to be reimbursed and have my rent brought back down. God bless America. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. I had a storage unit while I was remodeling my house. They raised my rate from $373 to $498 a month without any notification at all! It was storage for a few months. Insane to raise it that much too! I called multiple times to ask why they were charging more on my credit card with no return phone calls. I kept leaving voicemails at their office. I even went to the office twice and nobody is ever there. Then, I waited on hold for the property manager to be contacted and he or she never picked up. I moved all my stuff out and disputed the difference with my credit card. Now, they were trying to take me to collections. This place is absolutely horrible!! read more

Corporate offices of Public Storage raised our rate 40% in 4 months and after asking around will raise it continuously thereafter every quarter! Nobody tells you when you sign up that they will raise your rate up 40% or more. So why would you think as much. They wait for you to move in get everything settled and Hit you with this increase expecting you to pay it! Here is the kicker! I went online and at the same facility for a bigger unit they offered it for less than what I was paying. This Shady practice shows you they are willing to let renters go just so they can get people to pay the increase. And if they don't and you move out they do it to the next person. I will be reporting to Better Business Bureau as well as telling everyone I know never to rent from this terrible company. I called corporate office and they basically said there is nothing they can do because it's based on demand. even though I told them I see open units at the facility. It took me 10 minutes to find a storage facility closer to my home with better access hours and 25% less than what I am paying. Already confirmed with new place that they only do rate adjustments every 9 months and the maximum they have done was 9% during a high time. This is acceptable. I made a mistake in signing up with PUBLIC STORAGE but I hope this review helps others in not making the same mistake. I truly hope that public storage corporate reads this and gets their act together. I guess for now I will use my only consumer power and move!! I noticed today that the storage facility now says they are open from 930 to 5pm, that must be the office. Maybe they made a mistake because Everytime I go there the office is always closed. I wanted to get a kart to move my stuff, but they no longer let you used their karts. If you want to have the use of a carts you have to make an appt. On line. Not sure how that's going to work because my life is not perfect, how can you make an appt. To use a kart if your not sure what time you will be there. Traffic is really bad, so my advice is get your own kart, that way you will be able to move your stuff. The only problem with that is your going to have to rent a larger storage space just to have a cart to move your stuff. This sucks and It's making everybody mad, There were a bunch of people on the elevator that were all very upset. Especially the girls because they can't carry those heavy boxes. They are difficult to work with. I found the hours restrictive relative to when I needed to get to my storage in the early evening on the weekends. Also, you expect rent increases, so the deal you initially get can change. Having your lock cut off if you get locked out is a hassle. read more

This Public Storage located at 2065 at Placentia Street in Costa Mesa is ran by a very rude lady named Giovanna. We buy storage units and clean them out for the storage unit place and take everything away. Then we make sure the storage locker is nice and clean. This particular location started off with a lady named Sonia who wasn't sure how to arrange the gates and doors for our access. So yesterday we lost most of the day and hours we could have had starting the removal and cleanup process. We called the office to get help but no one was there so we left a voicemail about what happened and if they could arrange extended time for us in the locker. This was very frustrating as to we only get 48 hours to clear out and clean out. First thing this morning we told the manager lady Giovanna about it and expressed how frustrated this was for us. She just got defensive and very much rude and said that we better be off her property at 5:00pm. So we said okay and started doing our best to get everything out of the locker. We ended up hiring a haul away company costing us $500. We had no other choice to work as fast and hard as we possibly could. So we continued working as hard and fast as as we all could. Then all of a sudden this young lady Giovanna came yelling at us to get everything back in the unit and get off her property. Saying she is off the clock and shouldn't be having to walk over and telling us to leave the property. Yelling at us that she's going to call the cops going on and on. I asked her if she could please talk to us like we are human beings. She then looked at me and started laughing. It was very immature the way she was laughing and texting on her phone and saying I should call the cops. After we got all of the stuff loaded up in the trucks and everything she decided to not let us out of the facility, after all of the threatening, go figure. She said it's after hours try calling the 800 number giggling. We repeatedly tried to call and got nowhere so we then ended up calling the local police. They told us that they would be there as soon as they could to let us out. So we waited a hour and our hauling guys started getting frustrated and saying that they were going to charge us more than the $500 we paid them. So now we are all feeling frustrated and trapped all because Public Storage 2065 Placentia Manger Giovanna has a power trip and won't push a simple button and disappears in her public storage house. Once the police arrive he was apologetic for this situation we were in. All of this because we lost track of time helping them by cleaning out the locker and her storming at us yelling and laughing. So any online auction buyers beware of this storage facility. Besides after the treatment we received here I feel like they should just clear and clean up themselves. They also have a massive amount of termites coming out of units, so beware as a regular tenant here as well. They don't upkeep the place or call their tenants out on much of anything, as there was a mattress and bed frame in an elevator blocking everyone and someone today left their trash on the outside row. Our designer carpets were stored at Public Storage @ 2065 Placentia Ave and they got destroyed due to the poor maintenance of their facilities. In talking to their regional manager Lorraine Evans she accepted no ownership and refused using their liability insurance to cover for the neglect of their premises and the total destruction of our carpets which got totally ruined because we picked up termites at their storage facility. DON'T USE THIS STORAGE PLACE!!!!!! My unit was just broken into and several items were stolen. I did have insurance that they require you buy but by the time you pay the deductible, file the police report, talk to everyone you need to, file the claim online, it's just not worth the time and effort. I waited for an hour during my lunch break at the unit to file a police report and finally had to leave to go back to work. The police department couldn't give me an eta of when they would arrive. You also have to have receipts for the stolen items. I'm 42 years old and many of the items they stole were gifts from when I was a child (lladros, precious moments etc). How in the heck would I have receipts for all of that? The robbers actually just took the entire lock off the wall! This was 100% the fault of public storage for not keeping this secure. I wouldn't have noticed this in advance but does this look secure to you????? My stuff was only there a few weeks (less than a month). And they do not have cameras. read more

if you run a business and already do not provide an great time frame in which to get to your things. Because their gate hours suck. you can at least provide the renter with a heads up they will be increasing your rent amount before charging your card. It was a a good $86 dollar increase. The Property Manager, Ada, was hugely helpful and professional and walked me through the entire procedure, on-site, via my iPhone. Ada helped me reserve the unit, explained insurance, sold me a new cylinder lock, described the unit's exact location, gate access, security, and processed all payments. A couple of days later I decided to change the unit size prior to my move-in date and Ada also helped me make those changes and process refunds all over the phone so I did not have to revisit the site to do so. TERMITE INFESTATION!!! Do not rent from this public storage! I went to get something out of my unit last week and noticed all my items were infested with termites and termite waste. I'm a property manager and have seen some pretty gross things in my career, but nothing this bad! To make things worse, they knew about the infestation and failed to inform their tenants. My antique furniture was ruined, brand new mattress that was wrapped in plastic, had giant termites inside of it, all my custom artwork and custom wood frames are destroyed. Needless to say, I moved my stuff out of the unit immediately, on March 2nd and they have the nerve to try to charge me $191 for the whole month! Also, I have requested to speak with the district manager several times and STILL have not received a phone call! The renters insurance you pay for doesn't even cover this type of thing. I left upset, at a loss of my family's possessions and out several thousand dollars of items. My unit got broken into TWICE in one month!!! Why I didn't vacate after the first time? We were in the process of finding a home, needed one more month. Big regret! Many others were burglarized at the same time. We all talked, compared notes, and took police reports together. Rumors have it by other renters, they are all inside jobs. They allow people to stay and live in these units as well. They completely lack cameras at the unit halls. I don't understand why they can't get the thieves vehicle license plate on the way out, considering the camara is at the entry. It's all a scam. Every time they came they raise my rent my storage was broken into and almost everything of value was stolen. Their insurance company treated me as a fraud.And now they just change the hours to 7 1/2 hours open only that's the least of any around. And during the pandemic I requested them not to raise my rent and they still did.For my regret ever getting a storage here and I do not recommend anybody use the space for storage they don't care about your stuff and it's not safe. read more

A few months later they sent a tiny postcard saying my automatic bill would be going up to about $150 and they must have sent another one because now it's $196. It's filthy all the time, the lights NEVER work & worst of all, they are so insanely GREEDY that they refused to allow me to move out on the 3rd without paying for the entire month despite the fact that I had been in Texas dealing with the severe damage to my homes from the hurricanes!! I am already so broke because of the never ending Covid lockdown & my rental properties being close to destroyed in Texas so I was hoping they would be ok with everything being out on the 3rd. The very rude employee that went out of her way to yell at me that night made it clear the company doesn't care in the slightest about helping their loyal customers during extremely tough times. Price increased and the elevator has been broken for MONTHS. We have an small unit on the second floor... Place is filthy and there are bottles filled with urine near the stairwells and along side the hallway to our unit........ will be renting else where hopefully by the end of the month.
