From checking in, to being seating, to the conversations with the som and our server. We took our time and enjoyed the experience. We split a few of the pastas (which could all be GF except the stuffed) and each had a burger (which had a GF bun, for me, my husband had the traditional.) We honestly struggled with not ordering the whole menu, but restrained ourselves since we had dinner at Osteria Francescana later. 10/10 and will absolutely go back next time are in Modena!

Once upon a time, getting a beer in Italy that wasn't crap commercial lager meant getting a crap…read morecommercial "doppio malto" that added some caramel and maybe 1% ABV to their standard product. The alternative splurge, was finding a bar that served some pedestrian Belgian blonde, like Grimbergen. Green River, though, is the hugest slam dunk triumph of craft brewing brilliance - - it is hard to imagine such a bold, amazing tap line up in this country. I stopped by other places in town and the more adventurous beer bars tend to have the typical "we are expanding our palate" approach - - they got a hefe, they got an amber, a pale ale, they may even have a stout (shrieks from the audience). But Green River has a bitchin' line up representing a full range of styles, from a low-abv "salty ale" (a Gose?), to a fab imperial IPA, and three with ABV over 10%. This is not a cautious, milquetoast approach to "an introduction" to craft beers - - it is a slam down seizing it by the jugular. And most of this big-time line-up of taps are Italian! It is not soaking in atmosphere, this place, it is soaking in first-class suds. Totally, totally, the bomb for beer in Bologna.

Took a minute to come and take our order but once they did the drinks and food came out fairly fast. My husband had the beer and he said it was really good! We both had burgers (he completely finished his). I ordered their cheeseburger medium rare and it was mostly just rare on the inside but grilled a thin layer on the outside. Like a lot of restaurants in Italy, they charge more to sit outside -- but it's totally worth it. You're immediately charmed by your beautiful surroundings; it's a great spot for people watching. After an afternoon of shopping and exploring Verona, we stopped at Le Cantine for dinner. Though they were pretty packed, the waiters seated us (a group of 6) immediately. Service was impeccable; everyone was extremely gregarious and friendly, even with the language barrier. LOL. Our waiter, Salvatore, was awesome and extremely helpful. For dinner, I had the special of the day: stuffed zucchini and pasta served with a special sauce. Though the portion was small, it was extremely filling. The light flavors of the sauce and pasta also made this dish easy to eat. The pizzas here also seemed extremely popular (with everyone ordering them), so we also ordered one. Though I don't remember what it was called (see photo), it was delicious. The crust was perfect and it was absolutely stuffed with toppings. Mmmm. My dad ordered Spaghetti alle Vongole (Spaghetti with Clams), an Italian specialty, and it tasted like seafood heaven. The flavors in that dish were extremely fresh and tasty. And who could go to Italy without having tiramisu for dessert? Le Cantine's tiramisu is beautiful and tasty -- I could have eaten a tub of that fluffy concoction. Overall, loved it!
