Met some great local guys who ended up getting some dice from the bar and played some games, enjoyed the fooseball tables and the pool tables in the basement. As an American, I especially enjoyed all the album covers on the wall and how the basement pool table area felt just like an American dive bar would have in the 1980s (complete with accompanying American tunes!). The bartender chatted with us as she was packing up for the night and provided excellent service all evening. The crowd was mostly young people, all of whom seemed to be having a great time, with not even a phone in sight! It really did feel like traveling back in time to a different kind of "going out for drinks" than a lot of people are used to. Definitely worth stopping in for a pint and some games!

The selection of beers is quite big compared to most places, both on tap and bottles. They also sell ginger beer, which is something I haven't seen elsewhere. There's nothing special about this bar - it is simply a faux-Irish pub (every respectable city has one), but that being said, I quite enjoyed having a couple of beers here. My friends and I found a table in the back where there wasn't too much noise and the ambience was pretty cosy. Getting a table is difficult later in the evening, and the bar area is loud and crowded. Now go try a ginger beer at The Globe!
