I drank the Arnold Palmer and it is those HUGE "Arizona brand" cans. Most of the time I lingered was to finish my drink! Walked in on a busy day and was told it would be about a 45minute wait. We were okay with that but we ended up waiting about 2hours. They didn't communicate to customers (after waiting over 45mins) to put them at ease or make sure they knew when to except their meals. Since I've worked in the food and beverage industry for many of years I know the problem was the cashier continued taking to go orders over the phone while customers were still being seated. I have been coming here for awhile and was super excited to eat here today. Unfortunately the food lately hasn't been the same I don't know what has changed. I had some scrambled eggs with my meal and when I took a bite it tasted absolutely spoiled rotten! I even asked my other half to try it if I was being dramatic but he made a sour face saying it didn't taste right. So I didn't eat part of my meal because of it. Love this place! The staff is so nice and welcoming! I had the pancakes (are these too far, forget to get pic!) and stuffed french toast (stuffed with cream cheese). Ate here on vacation with my family and the food was ok. It felt a little overpriced for the diner-style quality. The biggest issue is that they have a menu up but it's not accurate. My husband ordered a bacon burrito and nowhere on the menu does it say there is sour cream and salsa in it. They did make a new burrito, and the servers were kind and attentive, but they should have just listed all the fillings to begin with, since someone could have allergies. The bacon is also very crunchy and crumbly, which just isn't my preference. The pancakes were very tasty with a sweeter taste to them. Maybe we'd give this place another chance on our next visit, but would probably just try other local spots instead. read more

Our first visit, we ordered the Hawaiian Combo (Kalua Pork, Lomi Lomi and Poke), Loco Moco, Kimchee Fried Rice and the Mochi Pancakes and Stuffed French toast. The Kalua Pork was tasty, but could have had a bit smokier flavor for my taste. The Loco Moco was served with a generous portion of gravy. We know gravy is what makes this dish onolicious. The Mochi Pancakes were fluffy with the perfect amount of chewiness. However, the "Stuffed" French Toast was a disappointment. The "Stuffed" French Toast was 2 slices of regular plain French Toast . Is that because we did not order the extra fruit for an additional $2? Not sure why this entree is called "Stuffed French Toast". My friend enjoyed his Kimchi Fried Rice...just not something that interests me. Wait time for our food was 30 minutes. We decided to give Puakea Grill a second shot. This time we ordered Saimin, Puakea Fried Noodles, Mochi Pancakes and Fried Chicken. Saimin and Fried Noodles were flavorful. Fried Noodles had assorted meats. (Lup Cheong, Spam, Bacon, Char Siu) The Ginger Fried Chicken was crispy and not greasy. 3 pieces of boneless dark meat served with mac salad and rice. Wait time for food was 1 hour. Not sure why such long wait times. Is there 1 cook cooking 1 dish at a time? As I mentioned, my biggest complaint is the length of time it takes for our food to be prepared. I really wish I was able to give a review of the food, but unfortunately we were never able to eat it. We showed up at around 8:45 am and by 9:15 we still had not received our food. There were no tables ahead of us as everyone had seemingly gotten their food by the time we sat down. We had to get to the airport and when we asked for the food to go we were told "10 more minutes". If your breakfast items take longer than 10 minutes to come out you're doing something wrong and if your kitchen is backed up for some reason you should let the customer know it will be longer than usual.
