Tyler is the best hidden gem for anyone looking for a physical therapist. He has helped me with…read moremultiple chronic injuries, two which have persisted for over a decade. His approach to care is holistic and looks at the best way to treat the patient for both pain relief and future progress. I went in after a referral from my doctor because I had a two week long tension headache. Tyler immediately started working on pain relief and after a few weeks the headaches went away and we turned to long term care by building up the muscles in my back that were under developed thanks to stronger pecs and lats. I asked him if he thought he could help my ankles (I have osteoarthritis in both from 30 years of sprains and strains) and he said he could try. So far he is making it less painful for me to walk on a daily basis and I'm hopeful to play sports again! I finally asked Tyler to work on my last chronic injury - lower back pain. He quickly worked with me on a treatment plan that immediately helped out and I look forward to the continued progress on all three injuries. Tyler has a true gift - I've seen numerous physical therapists for my ankles and multiple chiropractors for my back. His approach takes muscles, joints and movement into account and I'm glad to find someone that looks for a lifelong solution to pain and not the quick fix. His office and team are personable and fun to be around, get in fast before his consultation appointments are subject to weeks delay or a wait list!

I have always liked SERC. (I had gone there a couple of years ago.) I have been a customer for…read morethe last 6 weeks. The therapists are excellent at their jobs! Today, I was seen by Adam. He was so patient and explained how to do the exercises and demonstrated them as well. He explained why and what muscles would be engaged. He asked where I was feeling muscles stretching or if I was experiencing any pain. He LISTENED to what I told him, always getting more information to proceed. He was easy to talk to, but also concentrated on the therapy. Very professional!

So eight months ago I would have written a very different review. Seven months ago I was injured by…read moremy physical therapist at Select. Mike Holmes is very good sometimes at what he does. He does have some blind spots though that you should know about before you would choose to work with him. I have been in extreme pain every day and night since the beginning of May, 2022. My life has been altered in a way that has put me into a depression. I missed my spring, summer and fall and there is no end in sight at this point. I have missed a friend's funeral due to not being able to travel. I can't go on vacation, I can't do my art or gardening and my new physical therapy with someone else is progressing so slowly that we can do hardly anything. My doctor says I have a long road ahead of me. I was almost finished seeing Mike for the issue that brought me to him. In fact, I thought it was our last visit. He can be extremely arrogant and when he gets like that, won't listen. He became obsessed with what he referred to as my dowager's hump. I told him that I had been born with a curvature of the spine, and he knew that I had degenerative disc disease. The disc disease was the cause of the issues that I had seen him for off and on over a two year period. He wanted me to hyperextend backwards on a table with arms overhead over a hard plastic roll that is hard as a rock. I argued with him for 10 mins about it telling him that I thought it might injure me and that it was a move I'd never been able to do as a child and certainly not as a 68 year old woman. He kept saying just do it. Finally, he leaned down and said to me..."we've talked about that hump". A manipulative move with an old lady not feeling great about how society views older women. Unfortunately, I did do it. I told him it felt like I broke my back. He smiled and told me to move the roll slightly and try again. When I said it still hurt he told me to hold to the count of 20, 3 times. He told me to continue it at home and when I came in the next time and told him I was in too much pain to do any home exercises or do anything there, he said, "let's try it another way" with me on my stomach trying to push up with my arms. When I broke down in sobs, he tossed me a kleenix. He did not take any of this under advisement. He in fact did not appear to care. He seemed annoyed. I know that when in physical therapy, true pain is a sign that you are doing something you should not be doing. He refused to take note of this. I had always been completely compliant with him. He should have at least viewed this as unusual and noteworthy. So, after 2 sets of Xrays and 2 MRIs, we find that I have a torn disc, a protruding disc, another disc sliding another the other and pain like I've never had before. When I went in to the spine guy after 4 months or so of dealing with this, he couldn't believe a physical therapist would have ever done this. He said, don't ever let anyone do this to you again. The 3 new physical therapists I've seen have all been devasted for me and couldn't believe someone would have a woman my age with degenerative disc disease do this. All three of them were angry. I bring this to your attention because orginally when I finally contacted him, I told him that I wouldn't give him a bad review or report him or sue him, I just wanted him to learn and never do this to another person. However, his attitude has made me believe that he may not have learned anything from this. He actually tried to blame me for it by saying, "I thought you knew your body and what it could handle but I guess I was wrong". I think we had a communication problem. When I mentioned my 10 mins. of explaining to him why I shouldn't do it, coupled with all my reports of severe pain afterwards including massive cramping of my entire back, both legs and neck (cramps which he worked to try to remove to no avail), he said, "well, I heard you say those words but it didn't seem like you said them with the same strength. Since then, Mike's supervisor had two conversations with me laughing both times. He referred the matter to their insurance company and legal team, telling me that they would contact me. NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME. The last time I heard from him by text was Nov. 9th, saying they would contact me soon. Again. Nothing but crickets. If I were you, I would consider another physical therapist. I think that Mike manages the place so that is something to keep in mind.

I had a great experience here at Select Physical Therapy. I had a prescription for 6 weeks, but…read moreonly needed to go 4 weeks. On my first visit my therapist was out so another one filled in, and she did some strength and flexibility tests to determine what my course of treatment would be to heal me. On my 2nd visit I met Stephanie, who was my physical therapist. We ran through my exercises and stretches and just within a week I noticed a significant difference. She added some balance techniques and some additional strengthening exercises. She also measured my pain versus what it was the week prior. She decided on a course of exercises to add and set up a schedule to see her. The following visits I started in the Planet Fitness Gym to warm up and then would come over and exercise. Each session she would increase the difficulty. She also had a trainee from a local physical therapy college under her tutelage, and had the student help with my exercises and massage afterwards. I would also get ice for my knee after the exercise an massage. After four weeks, Stephanie remeasured my flexibility and strength and determined that I was strong enough to stop physical therapy and return to normal activity, if I wanted to. She said I had a prescription for six weeks but it was my decision if I wanted to continue with the other two weeks or just return to normal activity. I found this to be extremely professional. Some physical therapist in my opinion would have their patients continue the full prescription. Stephanie being honest and professional felt I was strong enough to return to normal activity and gave me the choice if I wanted to continue or stop therapy. When I graduated physical therapy I even got a T-shirt for completing the course. I thought this was extremely fun and a great way to celebrate my completing my course. The only reason I don't give them five stars, is I'm a little bit of a germ freak. They do spray down the tables after every person, but only the tops. When I would exercise on my side, I would actually grab underneath the table to hold myself in position. I noticed they didn't spray the underside or sides of the table. I would have liked to have had some hand sanitizer in the general area to use. But that's just my personal preference. Otherwise the therapy center is extremely professional, everyone is very nice, and they treat you like family. I highly recommend them.
