From the county law library's website:…read more "The Monterey County Law Library is dedicated to supplying the public and legal community with the best possible access to legal materials through hard copy holdings and electronic media, including the internet. In most counties, including Monterey, the county public law library is the major, if not the only, source of legal materials for the general public. The majority of the library budget is used to insure that the public has access to California and Federal case and statutory law. The library also attempts to satisfy the legal community's need for reference and practice books to the full extent that the budget will permit." I had the privilege of being a volunteer at the law library last winter. The law library is a a very useful resource for the public and many of the patrons who come in are either practicing attorneys or people interested in looking up information related to divorce, custody or adoption statutes. The law library's website has a listing of the library's holdings, borrowing policy, services and other relevant law sites. Mr. Cobb, the library director and Melissa Foster, the assistant librarian are very helpful and friendly as well. There are also legal workshops that are held for the public to attend in the Monterey branch.

If you need to use the Law Library I suggest using the Monterey library and not the Salinas one. I…read morewas treated very disrespectfully and rudely by Chris Cobb who was working at the Salinas branch March 2nd 2019. He was very sarcastic and refused to help me find the information I requested. He kept saying that he was educating me about what I did wrong. I believe that he should help people not berate them and ridicule them. I phoned him today and asked him politely to tell me his bosses name and he just laughed at me and told me good luck. The lady at the Monterey branch was very helpful and told me to look in the Criminal Law Handbook.
