Excellent service in the Office!! So my daughter moved in to the Proximity at 10th apartment complex and I had to move her stuff in last Friday. From the office admin, Rachel, to the Property Manager, Marisa, to the Maintenance Man, Justin...each one of these individuals was incredibly helpful throughout my experience. Rachel set it off with such great and polite service greeting me in the office. Then Marisa was so helpful in calling in to maintenance for a dolly to help me with the many boxes I had to move. Finally, Justin brought the dolly right to me to use which made the move so much easier. I want to thank you all for such an easy experience and more importantly I am so happy that my daughter is living in a such a great place with such a caring staff. Kudos and thanks to all three of you! read more

I don't suggest this apartment building for students. The rent is quite higher than some of the surrounding options. The parking fee is ridiculous. It's impossible to park to visit your student. My son was there for two years and had to have countless repairs made, including window replacements, where they had to stay in another apartment for a while. And then couldn't get blinds for the replacement windows for months. On top of that after move out, they charge a cleaning fee, which is warranted, but they also charged him for a piece of furniture that was broken before he got it. $100 for a chair that was already broken. I emailed the property and at least three other people trying to get this resolved and cannot get a response other than additional emails telling me to contact yet another person. read more

THE ABSOLUTE WORST PLACE TO LIVE. So many bugs and cockroaches, doesn't complete maintenance requests, management knows nothing and are unhelpful, will not notify you before moving a random roommate into your apartment, will charge you for anything and everything. DO NOT LIVE HERE! read more

Prox is super cool Samuel was a big help with the things we had to do at prox. I would totally live here again everything was smooth and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay read more

I love living here! Shannon is really sweet and always helps me with any concern I have!

Thank you Marissa for calling and making it right for our family. Very happy with outcome - it took one email to the manager and she fixed everything read more

The management is garbage, the amount you pay for how little you get is garbage, the building is brand new but still garbage, everything that is involved with the Proximity at 10th at East Carolina University is utter garbage. I've lived there for not even a semester and i'm already trying to find a way to get out of my lease before the semester ends. If I could rate this place a 0.00000000001 star i would because this place is not worth living there. It is garbage. I'd rather physically live in a garbage can than live in their building again. I use the word garbage very frequently because that's exactly what point needs to be getting across... it is geneuine garbage. Thank you and have a great day P.S.- The proximity is garbage read more

I don't even live here but when I visit my friends the stairways are the nastiest things ever. Vomit and dog poop DO NOT get cleaned up in there and the smell stays. Hazmat suit may be needed. Threw up twice in my mouth from the smell and sight. Nastiest fucking building ever. I would never pay what my friends do to live in a smelly landfill. read more

This place is horrible and disgusting. The management is terrible. It seems like nobody knows the answer to anything. Parking is a shit show. It takes them forever to fix things if you have a problem. But that is just the least of it. My apartment has a horrible mold problem. It's growing on the walls, in and behind my toilet, and underneath my sink. When I told them about the problem they just came in and whipped it with bleach. But it didn't fix anything. Save your money. This place is horrible. They had so many bad reviews that they offered the residents free pizza for leaving a good review. If I could give no stars I would. read more

Not truthful about what they are renting. Despite being told by the leasing agent when my daughter signed her lease that "all the bedrooms had the same square footage" they do not. My daughter's room is so small she can't the 4 pieces of furniture the apt provided to her in her room because it is so small. BUT she pays the same rate has her roommates who have bigger rooms (and bathrooms) Seems unfair. Calls and emails have gone unanswered. The only person who actually spoke to us said my daughter should ask her roommates to switch rooms. Are you kidding me? Who would pay more to have less? read more

Honestly not sure why the ratings are so terrible on the Proximity. I lived at The Boundary for a year before I moved to the Proximity (moved bc Prox was nicer) and they are both run by the same management called Preiss, and I've never had a bad experience with them. So far I've loved living here. Yes there were some things not finished in the building but what else would you expect when they're trying to put together a brand new building. Of course the fire alarms were going off due to them having to test them to make sure they work *thats required*, and I'm happy knowing they work. I live in a four bedroom and the rooms are smaller than the other units but still happy with the rooms, I knew what it was going to look like because I was able to sign up for a hard hat tour during construction once it was safe. Overall still love this place & the management has always been helpful. read more

The proximity is out to get money from tenants and their tenants guarantors. I had leased an apartment there for a year and during the summer term I had travelled to Texas for work. I was behind on my rent during covid and told them I was working in Texas to get the money but they refused to work with me in a way that was logical. Because of them not working with me I had even more money to pay and could just never catch up. When I tried to work out a payment plan with them they said they couldn't work with me and sent my account to collections. The amount I owed was about two months rent and once I get notice from the collections agency, they inform me that the debt they were calling to collect was $4500. They had claimed that I moved out of my apartment while I was working in Texas even when I let them know I just wasn't in North Carolina and still had intent to pay the lease. My neighbors apartment flooded and the flood damage came into my apartment. They claimed that they did the final walk through on my apartment at the time they were addressing the water damage in my room which was not the case because I hadn't even turned in my keys. Because I "moved out early" I broke the rules to my lease which then allowed them to revoke any of the lease deals that gave me a discounted lease (adding that $3000 to my account). I checked the entire leasing agreement and that rule was nowhere to be found. I also noticed on the leasing agreement that the property manager had gone back into the leasing agreement and removed his electronic signatures from the lease!! I feel truly scammed because they never informed me of this being a consequence even though I asked beforehand. They most likely felt they would get more from me by putting $4500 against my mothers credit ( who wasn't even my guarantor and never once signed any documents regarding the lease) instead of working out a payment plan that would've only brought them $1200. I won't even get started on how poor the quality and integrity of this building is either. read more

been here a little under a year and i absolutely love it, it's close to campus and only a short walk to downtown. the front desk is always helpful and quick at responding and helpful. maintenance is always helpful and super chill and friendly. i've already renewed my lease and i can't wait to live here again read more

IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD. This place is a nightmare... During the pandemic I went back home for a month to help my parents. While I was gone proximity management screwed up who's room they were moving out and ended up throwing away all my valuables. They didn't double check if it was the right room or even seem concerned at how much stuff they were throwing away/stealing. I had a whole room full of furniture, expensive products, closest full of clothes etc. When I showed up expecting to lay down in my room, they moved in a whole new person in my room and didn't even notify me that I have no place to live. They "didn't know" what happened to my stuff and I was still paying rent for the place I was moved out of. This place is the worst rental company. It might be pretty on the outside but it smells like pee and weed all day every day. Don't believe all the "5 star ratings" they have other people writhing for them because this place sucks. read more

Do not rent here. Mngmt not willing to work with you. Love having customers upset. Don't do anything about it. Filthy, bugs, building not complete, hurt myself on wooden built outs around elevators when moving in bc they weren't finished. Trash in hallways. Stinks of rotten eggs. Do not move in here read more

My daughter lived her for a whole year and I'm truly disappointed in what it had to offer. My daughter was constantly stressed about her horrible living conditions and as a mother that makes me feel just horrible. She had constant issues with pest and bugs like cockroaches, in which case they never did tried to solve the issue despite her putting in multiple complaints. She then told me the whole place wasn't even sanitary as most places within the building smelled unpleasant. She also said she had many unpleasant events during the night as the place isn't well kept together so she was unable to sleep. Not only were the living conditions bad but the way they treated my daughter was downright horrible. She had multiple false claims put against her and I assume it was partially due to her race. She was blamed for things she never did and it tarnished her name. I'm so disappointed with everything this place had to serve and I don't think it is a place you would want to live. Please reconsider coming here and don't be fooled. Sent from my iPhone read more

They are always calling saying the rent hasn't been paid. Seems like they are trying to get an extra months rent and late fees when the rent has been paid on time. Very annoying! read more

They don't care about the residents. Every time there is a complaint they brush it off. the manager Marisa is very condescending. There is always a leakage. Awful Awful Awful. They don't care about the residents concerns. Do not support this building at all!!!!! They make you feel insignificant, voiceless, upset and mad when you project a problem. read more
