The office experience was also pleasant due to the quick sign in, and I was seen almost immediately after I signed it, the doctors and nurses here have always been caring and treating me well when I needed medical attention/care. This is a small community hospital best suited to patients undergoing elective procedures or minor emergencies. DO NOT bring patients who are seriously ill here! While the staff was largely supportive and attentive (at times) it was luck of the draw who you got and their skill level. The hospitalist was great but specialists are hard to come by and really not great. My mom (92) was admitted for cardiac care and was never seen by a cardiologist. A pulmonologist was on staff BUT NEVER EXAMINED HER. Upon discharge he TRIPLED one of her meds, again without ever setting eyes on her, leading to a severe drop in blood pressure and 911 being called 2 hours after discharge. If you're having a nose job or need a knee surgery or a bone set, this will be fine, anything serious, GO to MISSION! read more

I was hospitalized here multiple times for my bipolar disorder. The staff and the nurses are pretty good and sweet, except Dr. Ruskin. Dr. Ruskin didn't take the time to sit down with me and figure out what medications I should be on to be stabilized. he is an arrogant doctor and he did not do his job properly to stabilize me. I ended up here multiple and multiple times for manic episode and for suicide attemp. The mission hospital Laguna Beach psych ward is by far the worst. They do not have as much group activities as other psych wards that I have been to. Do yourself a favor and please do not end up here. read more

I loved this hospital! I spent a few days here as a reluctant patient awaiting a diagnosis and will say the staff, food, activities, friendly fellow patients, and multi-million dollar views make this one of my favorite hospitals, and I've been to quite a few. I was treated like a VIP! This past year 2 of my parents passed on, forcing me think more about my own mortality. If I were to die in a hospital and have the choice it would be either Providence, Laguna Beach or Hospital del Mar, Barcelona Spain for me. read more

I had to be in here again for the night and it was up and down. The people in the ER were wanting to control me and restraint me even though I had no idea what was going on. However the wonderful night nurse Carolyn or Caroline? took such great care of me on Sunday night 6/8/25. As I was apologizing she made it known to me that it's not me at fault. It's what my body's doing that's why I'm having this reaction. She also figured out how to take my BP. Dr. Siew yet again is the most fantastic Dr there is. She has amazing bedside manner and is sincerely sweet and genuine. Also the nurse Jessica who worked Monday morning starting at 7:00 am Jessica was a complete angle who helped me get discharged as soon as she could. Overall I received great care. However there are some nurses who definitely need to learn the basics of being kind and patient. read more

I had a knee replacement done on Monday by Dr Samuel Park who is an exceptional surgeon. His support staff were also amazing the nurse who checked me in and went through all my medications before surgery was absolutely delightful. Had to come for chest X-rays and couldn't walk without great difficulty...they had no handicap parking at all!!! Crazy especially at a hospital...how could that be???? Very poorly run for a hospital...found out handicap is in parking garage with at least 12 stairs to get up and down...or u can walk to the other end of parking garage to the elevator to get down then walk all the way to the front entrance. When I parked out front and hobbled in I dealt with black man (security) at front desk who I asked where handicap parking was and explained I could not really walk, he said "looks like u can walk fine to me" after I hobbled in...he called his supervisor who was very nice but this security guy was a rude insensitive jerk who shouldn't be working at a hospital with his attitude...I'm having surgery at this hospital, hopefully this security guy isn't indicative of how things will go.... read more

Hi, I wanted to give a big shout out to the ER Team at Providence Laguna Beach. My name is Leslie and I dislocated my recent hip replacement this morning and the EMT's were unable to take me to my Primary at Kaiser Irvine and instead routed me to Providence in Laguna Beach for treatment. They were superb! The team led by Dr. Nick took great care of me, fixed me up and sent me home. Big shout out to Chelsea, your care and consideration were very special to me. First time I decided to come here instead of Mission Viejo, it's smaller yes but services here are far more less hectic than Mission Viejo. The paramedics & ambulance got me here in 10 minutes from where I live, Laguna Niguel. It's more personal & for me it's the best hospital I've been to 11/11/2024 ER staff was faster than ER in Mission Viejo. Please do not close this location. We got everything here in 1 stop. The hospital staff was so good to me. Kade a male and Ana, head nurse and Eva. My cardiologists were kind, knowledgeable and very professional. Diane, Jose who works in the stress test unit gave me the state of art test, no more treadmill. From housekeeping to nurses to head nurses were extremely kind to me. I can't say enough thanks to the whole staff on 3rd floor. If I ever get sick again and I'm getting older I will definitely percent ask to come back to this location. The meals were served hot never cold. I fell in love with the menu. I had Turkey breast & gravy for lunch, yum. Last night I had the most delicious roast beef. 11/14/24 I came home, What is the fuzz ? You just can't go in there and ask for pain killers. It doesn't work that way. The best hospital ever. If you break your leg or need stitches this is great. If you need inpatient hospitalization no. My mom was in for 6 days for a cardiac issue. Nobody ever read her history. 3 days in they realized she medically cannot have bp taken on left due to mastectomy, no diabetic diet. One morning glucose reading was taken, they came back 3 HOURS later with her insulin. Calling for assistance to use the bathroom would go I acknowledged and unanswered for an hour or more until a family member demanded someone come. Happened over and over again. Standard of are is inadequate at best dangerous at worst. 3 of the nurses we had appeared to be on some sort of drug. Could not answer basic questions, maintain eye contact or complete a thought. Would ask if you had any questions as with their back to you as they walked out of the room. And then I'd wait thinking they were coming back only to find them socializing at the end of the hall with a bunch of other nurses and cna's. Chaos. FILTHY, newly "sanitized" bed had full urine container left behind and fecal matter all over the toilet. Mom was in for cardiac issues but never seen by a cardiologist. A pulmonologist who never examined her Quadrupled her meds on discharge and we wound up with paramedics at the house 2 hours after getting home. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I can't say enough good things about my experiences with this hospital. I had my left hip replaced May 2023 and my right replaced Sept 2023. My surgeon Dr. Samuel Park performs is surgery's at this hospital so it wasn't exactly my choice, and I don't have any other hospital to compare to but let me tell you, I felt comfortable and cared for from beginning to end both times. I was very lucky to have the same nurse and advocate for both my surgeries. The first time they each made me feel like I was a new best friend that they were personally there to care for. By the second surgery they made me feel like family, complete with all the hugs. I felt 100% safe even though my husband wasn't allowed to come in with me--he dropped me off outside and picked me up outside when I was done. I never felt sick after I woke up from anesthesia because my nurse gave me plenty of time to sleep it off. I didn't feel rushed or pushed to walk before I was ready. They made sure to keep my personal belongings close at all times. The entire experience both times was simply worry free. read more

Here's your favorite foodie. This week I've been in the hospital with double pneumonia and double RSV and Afib. Without the excellent care of physicians and skilled nursing staff this week I fear I would not have made it. Respiratory team literally gave me the breathe of life. This facility is up/to-date and sparkling clean, meals are very hot when they come to the room and fresh and tasty..... wish I could swallow but RSV is so horrendous. I've been in isolation so visitors are not allowed but when they just peek in to say they love me they go to the cafeteria for a bite. Food portions are fabulous and very tasty and the prices are reasonable. The emergency department is top rated and tests, staff and security are prioritized for safety. As you know there was a problem in San Diego Loma Linda Hospital on this past Sunday. Feel secure that you are protected here. Know matter how sick you feel you just look out these big beautiful windows into the Pacific Ocean horizon while watching the sun rise and set and you know you're in Heaven on Earth. Been in the ER since 10:30am (it's 4:51pm) and a doctor still hasn't come by to see us. If you can't see patients because you don't have enough doctors or you don't have the right doctor, you should send them elsewhere. We've literally been here the entire day. My kid could have been seen somewhere else. Now they are telling me if I leave before they see her, I'm leaving against their medical recommendation. They sure got in here and processed my insurance right away. It's really sad, I used to absolutely trust doctors and nurses but now it's all about the insurance pay day. What a scam. read more

I was in the ICU at Providence Laguna Beach and the care was phenomenal!!! The nurses were kind and caring, the sitters were caring and helpful, and the Dr saved my life!! He went above and beyond to save me!! Even when the CDC told him he could stop the treatment he persisted and after 11 days I left healthy! Both my wife and I went to the emergency room here when she had a gallbladder attack and I had a kidney stone. Horrible treatment, unsympathetic doctors, horrible billing. In my case I sat there for 4 hours in the most excruciating pain and they would not give me morphine. They also never prescribed me flomax so it took a week to get rid of the stone when it could have been out within a day. This place will most likely be closing soon and I understand completely why. read more

They didn't have the right imaging I needed for a simple pancreatitis, so they sent me by ambulance to Mission Viejo, I was not critical and could walk on my on without assistance. I made it clear, I was on Medicare with a PPO part F, I told them not to do anything that wasn't covered by Medicare as I couldn't afford it, I'm a senior on fixed income. So they sent me in an ambulance with "Mission Ambulatory Surgicenter" what a joke! they were playing music on the radio and asking if I wanted to hear the siren! They were like frat kids, very unprofessional. They are the uber of ambulatory. So the billed me $1,400 to drive me 3.5 miles and they are not covered by Medicare, because they are substandard. If you can avoid Mission Ambulatory Surgicenter and Mission Hospital in Laguna, do so or they will rip you off! They destroyed my credit, at my age I will never recover. read more

He received a puncture wound and it bled profusely. We rushed to the ER at Providence Mission Hospital Laguna Beach off Coast Highway- the closest hospital to where we live (about 15 minutes away). Upon entering the ER, he was still bleeding (so, bleeding for over 15 minutes at this point). After filling out the paperwork, he was taken back roughly 30 minutes later to be seen. He emerged from the ER room around 2 hours later, still bleeding and clutching a bloody paper towel. Once we got to our car, he was shaking and told me that they treated him with a tetanus shot and an antibiotic. He told me that his wound was never cleaned (as I could see by the look of it). Furthermore, because he had high blood pressure they told him he had to stay until his blood pressure dropped. He was waiting for almost an hour in a dirty room, bleeding and panicking that he wasn't going to be able to go home. I was extremely upset by the lack of care he received at Providence Mission Hospital Laguna Beach. I was gobsmacked they didn't clean his dog bite wound. I called up to complain and spoke with Isabelle. When I asked Isabelle why my partner's dog bite wound wasn't cleaned, she replied, "doctor's dont clean wounds". Then I asked why he was kept there for high blood pressure when he had explained to the staff he has a fear of hospitals and this was making it worse, Isabelle mocked me saying, "it's not like he was chained to a bed, he could've left". Upon hearing that, I was enraged and I started yelling at her about their lack of care, and then Isabelle hung up on me! I akcnowledge that yelling is not the way to voice dissatisfaction, and I am sorry for that. Regardless, it doesn't excuse how poorly the standard of care is in the ER at Providence Mission Hospital Laguna Beach. There is no excuse for not cleaning a dog bite wound. There is no excuse for providing zero information to the patient on how to clean and dress for the wound, especially given they didn't even clean it. I'm truly disgusted and I will never go back to this hopsital. I am already warning all my family, friends, and neighbors about our horrendous experience and to stay away from Providence Mission Hospital Laguna Beach. read more

The doctors (DR SUTCH-primary example of somebody that should not be helping anybody with health and has absolutely zero bedside manner. You are clearly miserable and need to get out of the field of helping people that are sick). and majority of the nurses at the facility are the rudest people I've ever met in my entire life. I went in there last night with a life-threatening thing that if my bladder didn't get drained I would've died -the nurse missed inserting the catheter, and felt like I got stabbed in the cooch w a knife and as I lay crying, her response was "well we can take it out and you can leave". Disgusting attitudes, disgusting quality of care disgusting all around. The only decent doctor at this facility is Jeffrey Rey. I had the full knee replacement in this hospital on the 28th of this month. It went well... I want to commend the nursing staff for being so kind and caring. Upon arrival I let them know a was a baby and the nurse said don't worry you will be fine! Someone fro the nursing staff was always in the room with me which for me was very comforting...I also have a very caring doctor who checked on me 3 times after surgery...the only issue I had was being booted out the same of the surgery.... The staff in ER was not only indifferent and uncaring, their behavior was abusive and the definition of elder abuse for my 90 year father given his vitals, history, pain level. Sometimes in life people and our experiences can lead us to a place where we thought we'd never be, which recently happened to me when I found myself here at Mission Hospital behavioral wellness center. I came in scared confused alone with no one but myself to back me up Leaving everything behind. I was trying to protect. It is more frightening than you can imagine and at a time that is so desperate and so imperative and you need so badly for someone to hear you and believe in you you have to believe in yourself enough to stay calm And listen and understand. The nursing staff that I experienced while I was there and the doctors everyone that helps me was extremely kind, considerate, and I will admit for a moment there was one nurse I thought was being a little bit mean to me, but as I sat there and the day progressed and I left, I realized That she actually was saving me and the only way she knew how to keep me in the mind, space and calmness I needed to be in and it seems so harsh at the time, and everyone else was so kind and listen to my story and took it all in and I understand what they have to decide here And in hindsight, even though I knew when leaving there that all in all it was not a scary terrifying experience there I felt safe. I felt taken care of, but it wasn't till later that I realized that this woman did believe in me and she was telling me that I just needed to keep my head about me And I thank her so very much. She was a blind nurse and I'm sorry I will look up your name and come back and put it in his hair, but I was in room 216 and it was April 5 and I want everyone to know whether you go there to seek help or you are sent there to get Help That they truly are helping you and I really don't know how to thank you all enough. Thank you for believing in me and making me believe in myself because I came home much stronger much more confident than the feeling I've been carrying in my knees that kept me like I was walking through sludge every day and not getting anywhere is now gone because I have clarity. I'm glad I was sent there and I thank you with all my heart for taking care of me I will never forget you and I will continue to make you proud of the jobs that you are doing. Thank you. My doctor wanted xrays of both knees. Since Mission Laguna Beach was close, I went there. I'm sorry I did. Won't repeat that mistake. First, I have to say that the people who checked me in and took the xrays were great. I gave them my insurance cards and ID. The problem came about two weeks later when I got a bill for $915.00. There was no mention of my insurance coverage. They did adjust it down to $411.75. This is more than four times what it should be. Oh, and did I mention that I've met my copay for the year? So, I called the help line. A recording told me I was 22 in line. After waiting a while on hold, I hung up. I had other things I had to do. So, later that week, I drove over to the hospital and went to the radiology reception area. They checked and, sure enough, my insurance information was in the system. I told them about the ridiculously long waits for the help line. They gave me a number for the billing department at Mission in Mission Viejo. Unfortunately, the lady who answered the phone told me that they only handle bills over a year old. But... she did give me the email address which is customer service@providence.org Now the problem is that there is nowhere on the Providence website which gives an email to contact customer service. It's like they don't want it to be easy. Are they hoping that you'll just pay the bill? I wouldn't send a dead rat to Mission. read more

Ok so Darlene took such good care of our mom and kept us so informed, checked on us, and was so friendly. Whoever is in charge of this ER needs to make sure they recognize Darlene for her hard work, dedication, and friendly attitude to All patients. From beginning to end Darlene was amazing- she explained all of the different medicines and scans. 10/10 would hire Darlene for any medical practice. read more

I have mixed feelings about the care and treatment here. I walked in not sure what was wrong with me. I had a lot of symptoms, everything except a fever. The main issue was a sore throat and nasty hacking cough that has lasted almost a week. I was pretty sure I had pneumonia but luckily I didn't. Initially I thought maybe I had COVID but I am fully vaccinated including the booster. I try to be as honest as I can in my reviews, to help others and to share my experience. I'm not complaining, for the most part the treatment was ok. The hospital itself is very nice and clean and well managed. The staff and nurses were good. I was there for nearly 4 hours and once all my procedures and testing was done, a nurse came in and gave me the discharge papers. Nobody came in to speak to me to tell me what was my diagnosis. She just simply handed me my papers for me to sign and sent me on my way. I clearly had a bad cold and needed antibiotics, or something to manage the cough. I was very surprised to see I didn't receive a single thing. So it's like my time there was just wasted. So now I'm back to square one. People asked me how it went, if I got penicillin to treat the infection. Nope, nothing :( They just sent me home to deal with the symptoms. I guess I expected more..oh well. read more

06/06/21 Terrible Care My first experience with this ER was 10/24/1999 I was 8 1/2 months pregnant with my son. ( The former SCMC had an OB Dept) I presented with an acute headache, fever , and nausea. Dr Millard ( HORRIBLE, RUDE and a JERK!) was the MD on call. He never examined me, never performed an LP, and told me with 100 % certainty that I did not have meningitis! My OB had to demand that he at least draw labs. To this day , I don't understand why Dr Millard was so rude and unkind to me. Based on the information given, my OB , decided to induce me. I was transferred to the former OB unit and 24 hours later , my son was born. Within 3 days , my son had an fever of 103.8! That is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY in a newborn! (Actually any fever over 100.1 in an infant under 30 days needs medical attention right away) We rushed him to a nearby ER with a NICU. He was diagnosed with MENINGITIS! I was told by the NICU Dr to be reevaluated, that I had most likely infected my son with meningitis during his delivery. I went back to the ER , and they FINALLY did an LP.... and found that I HAD MENINGITIS, and never should have had my son delivered at that time. Should have waited until I was stable and well!!! BUT, my OB , made this decision based on the "DX" she was given by Dr Millard. It was NOT my OB's fault. I should have been transferred to a hospital with a higher level of care . I had worked at the former SCMC ( now Mission ) I thought of SCMC as my extended family. I had worked there over 15 years!This is how they treat family. Sad . My son was in a NICU for 10 days. He survived ( despite Dr Millards negligence to harm my baby and myself) and is doing well! (He's 21 and attending UCLA) Fast Forward 21 years . So mad at myself for returning here. It won't happen again! My husband and son waited patiently for over 90 minutes in the ER ( With an EMPTY ER lobby) for my son to be evaluated for a severe foot injury. My husband asked for pain medicine 2 times for my sons pain level 6-8/10.....NOTHING!!! After 90 minutes sitting in the empty ER lobby they left and went to another ER where they diagnosed 3 fractures in my son's right ankle that will require surgery! I was very upset and called Mission ER in Laguna and asked to speak with the charge nurse. Charge RN Paul, ( clearly in over his head ) was rude, demonstrating absolutely no empathy ; but gave me a vocabulary lesson on the definition of what a "saturated " ER meant. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! If the ER was so busy, why didn't they tell my husband and son to go to another ER where he might be helped in a timely manner?!!! I have been an RN for 33 years .... My husband went to ER for a UTI which was extremely painful. There was almost total blockage and 1.8 liters of fluids backed up in his system. From the moment we hit the ER check in we knew it would be ok. The security officer at the door greeted us and sent us to checkin. Everyone we interacted with was caring and Dr Zac Perry and nurses Mackenzie and Tina got down to business and solved his problem. We couldn't be more impressed! read more

I was fortunate to be able to visit my mom post surgery, I have to say the doctors and nurses at this hospital are wonderful. I have always had great experiences at this ER, Dr. Adams and nurse McKenzie are amazing- kind, caring, compassionate etc. no matter what I happen to be there for. So I hate having to write this, but after my visit last night, I hope I never have to return and would rather wait hours at MV Mission than be treated the way I was treated last night. I was prejudged and dismissed as soon as I arrived, I came in by ambulance because I couldn't sit up but was sent to the waiting room to sit for 4 hours. On top of that, they tried to discharge me before I even saw a doctor. The doctor, Dr. Waite, said he "knew me" and had seen me multiple times (which is false, I've seen him twice and each time was for a different reason). I believe he and the staff were trying to insinuate I was "drug seeking" without even asking me what was going on. I do deal with chronic pain but have been told by my actual doctors and that very ER to come back if the pain was worse or changed, which it had. In addition to pain, I also had had a fever for several days, was extremely nauseous for at least 10 days prior and was unable to keep any food down that day. It wasn't until Dr. Waite pressed on my stomach and I cried out in pain that he considered doing anything to help me. I was finally put into a bed after my friend asked them several times if I could have a room to lay down in while they ran blood and ordered a CT. Dr. Waite never even examined my back. Once in the room, two nurses (unfortunately I do not remember their names, possibly Dawn was one of them) aggressively fired questions at me about why I hadn't seen this doctor or that doctor and when my insurance changed etc. Again questioning my intent on why I was visiting the ER but then barely letting me answer the question to rattle off another, basically not listening to anything I said. I thought nurses were supposed to be caretakers and empathetic to those suffering however, they were rude, dismissive, and cold to me (something I have never experienced from a nurse before). Additionally, I was told by another one of the nurses (Mollie) I did have a certain medical issue going on and that they would prescribe me antibiotics, only to be told by Dr. Waite later in the night that I really didn't have that medical issue and that the people in the lab didn't know what they were talking about. The only person I was treated with any kindness from the entire 6 hours I was there was Sergio, another nurse on staff. He was the only one that didn't make me feel any worse than I already did and apologized for the other's actions. Clearly he shouldn't be working with such a judgmental group of B Team staff. So five stars to Sergio. I hope the rest can learn how to treat people if they want to continue working with people during some of the worst times of their lives. Additionally, I just read over the notes from my visit and there were several discrepancies- 1. Notes stated "no abdominal tenderness", however when the doctor pressed on my stomach I nearly jumped out of my chair hence the CT scan. 2. Notes stated "normal heart sounds, no murmur", my heart was never listened to. 3. Notes stated "normal breath sounds", my lungs were never listened to. 4. Notes stated "normal range of motion" in cervical back, my neck was never looked at and I do not have normal range of motion due to a previous neck surgery (C6-C7 are fused). 5. Notes stated "patient received IV fluids", I did not receive IV fluids even after I asked for them, I was told I wasn't dehydrated even though I had been throwing up and could not hold food down that day and that I didn't need them because I was drinking water. Lastly, the nurse who wrote up the notes stated I came to the ER when it was busy and there were more critical patients, I'm not sure where her opinion about the criticalness of my issue or the busyness of the ED had anything to do with the "history of my present illness". Dr. Dastmalchi, Nurse Parisa, Nurse Darnell and Nurse Rozin provided me with tremendous service and respect during my stay here. I don't have enough good things to say about the nursing staff. Dr. Dastmalchi told me he would not release me until I got better and kept true to his promises. He found me a surgeon and some real help, finally. I APPRECIATE YOU GUYS MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW.
