The people here were so amazingly sweet and they do so many events for the kids aswell.its overall an amazing place

Project Church Sacramento was the first church I checked out when I moved to the US, and I'm so glad I did! The diversity here is awesome, and you can sense the presence of God during services. The pastors are very approachable, and the worship team is anointed. I love seeing the kids growing in their faith, too. The church does monthly food distributions in South Sacramento and support global missions! Even though I live almost an hour away, I keep coming back because the Spirit of God is in this church! read more

I've been going here since 2021 and actually was saved here. I came after running from God for over a decade after growing up in the church and having bad experiences there. I lived a life lost in depression, anxiety and so much more looking for freedom in all the wrong places. One day my best friend said she wanted to come back to church so I started looking in Sacramento and found Project on Facebook. We went for the first time on a worship night and at the end of the service, one of the lead pastors (Chrissy) turned, introduced herself to me and asked to pray for me. She prayed over everything I had been through without me telling her anything bad I knew that was God using her in a mighty way. I've been going ever since then, got baptized here in 2022 and have been serving on teams, have a women's group and have made some amazing friends here. I have a relationship with JESUS that I've never had even after growing up in the church because of the biblical teaching here, the studies and learning how to really be spiritually formed! This is where I really learned to read the word, to pray, and to really hear the voice of God. I love this place and it feels like home. If I can place a Zero Star I would. Just another Pentecostal church that isn't biblically sound. If you're seeking an emotionally driven church, this place is for you; but if you're seeking for a biblically driven church, this place aint it. The scriptures are taken out of context. You need a church that is faithful to the texts, not a church that compromises the gospel for the sake of a full church because you know, more congregants equals more tithes, ca$hing. You might want to read 1 and 2 Timothy, Paul writes a perfect layout of what a true church is suppose to look and sound like. Read it, observe the church through it and you'll know which churches honor God and which ones don't. Frankly, it's a vast majority of professing christian churches that don't. I'd recommend Folsom Bible Church, Doxa Church and Redeemer Bible Church. read more

Nice church. They have very relevant messages. I really liked their small groups. Most leaders really try to get to know you and engage you. Inviting you to things beside church and small groups. I liked the friendships we created. Music was good, but a bit too loud for my taste. I tend to stay away from rock concerts. This is not a non-denominational church. It affiliated with the Capital Christian Center and both are Pentecostal churches. The lead pastors are related. read more

Went there a few times, but really something off about that place that I decided to elsewhere. I wouldn't tell everyone to stay away, but give it a try, see for yourself. But the people felt really disingenuous and fake. I would recommend this church though if you care more about the image of going to church. They have good merch, lighting, and angles to take selfies with so you can post on IG you're at church. Lots of people doing that there and if you're into it, you might like it. read more

It breaks my heart to provide less-than-glowing comments about a place of worship because Jesus' name needs to be lifted in as many places as possible. The messages rubbed me the wrong way because they seemed to take verses out of context to support a self-help viewpoint - e.g. more God = richer, taller, more attractive, get that spouse or conceive a child. Yikes, no. More God = the riches of knowing Him and His Grace...and more than what we need is added onto us. And we sometimes don't dictate the terms of that. Plus, they really pushed the giving part - felt like a telethon, not act of worship. Cool location, but I probably got closer to God with the tons of homeless that were not invited in. I feel great about writing this review - because my fiance and I have been going to this Church for a few months now. We really enjoy the atmosphere that Project Church embodies and shares with the congregation. This isn't a boring church by any means! You can rely on a more "stylish-hipster" crowd, if you wanted to define it that way. Skinny jeans galore! But, getting past that stereotype, I see a truly welcoming crowd that welcomes everyone through the door on Sundays. And the location is great -- across the street from the Crest, in the Assembly location (they use the same stage). The service typically starts out with 3-4 songs, which is actually run by a great group of singers and pretty awesome band (drums, guitars and keyboards). I'm not one to enjoy Christian music -- but the band at Project Church keeps it upbeat and fun. Then, the lead Pastor is Caleb Cole and his wife, Chrissy Cole. Caleb leads most of the services -- and the reason we keep coming back. Caleb is a truly wonderful Pastor, who has a balanced approach of mixing the word of God with a bit of humor -- his gift is engaging his audience and delivering a message that stays with you throughout the start of your week. Try this church if you're interested in a more laid-back setting and a great Pastor that will get you away from the same old rotating door of sermons. read more

There was a lot of lip service that felt more like what's "supposed to be said". The messages and atmosphere didn't align, they were more of a contradiction. It felt very superficial and not genuine at all. It just wasn't what I was looking for in a church and what I think about when I think of the love of God. read more

My wife and I have been attending Project Church and have been involved here since January 2013 and we love it. -Top-notch worship and preaching. -a church where every topic in the Bible is boldly discussed and nothing is side-stepped. -people are welcoming and friendly. -kids church is made fun for kids and a safe environment is provided. -cool venue and a very positive environment. -Jesus is lifted up and made central. -services are creative and done very professionally. -small group opportunities for deeper connection are available. -diverse opportunities to serve and get plugged-in are available. read more

True story: I am a Catholic revert after twenty years away from the Church. I've attended Mass (the major components of the Catholic Mass date to the 2nd century) at a number of different Catholic churches in San Francisco and Sacramento over the past year. At every single one, there were often present at least two or three less fortunate people whose clothes were dirty and maybe smelled a little. They were clearly homeless, as am I. Except for one or two who made loud noise and otherwise distracted from the Mass, all were welcome, including those who just wanted shelter, sitting in the back not participating. None of those who didn't disrupt Mass were ever hassled at all. Yesterday, a friend of mine, David, invited me to Project Church's grand opening at the new location on K Street in Sacramento. It's held in a theater and there's a lot of loud music and nice words, etc. When we entered, we stood on the mezzanine for a minute and then an attendant very kindly brought us two chairs. I sat down and David went to the restroom. I sat for about ten minutes watching the show. When David didn't return, I went and tried to find him. He was nowhere in sight. I went to the restroom. Upon leaving the restroom, I was accosted by a "security guard" who tried to intimidate me regarding the contents of my bag, asking whether I had photography equipment in it. Obviously, it is common for homeless people to carry all of their belongings with them. He was less than tall, so I suspected height issues may have contributed to his treatment of me. Annoyed, I asked whether he had any more questions. He told the other "security" person I was a security issue as I was leaving. I couldn't believe it was all happening. As I was walking out, I was still wondering, "What happened to David?" This morning, after I stopped by Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church here in Sacramento for the free bag lunch they distribute every morning, I ran into him. I said, "Hey, what's up? What happened, man? You disappeared on me." He said, "Oh, I went to the restroom and they kicked me out." I'm left to wonder: did the guy who brought us the chairs do it out of Christian kindness or just because he wanted us to be less visible? Memo to all associated with "Project Church:" Stop calling yourselves Christians. You're a disgrace to the title. read more

I remember thinking of church as somewhere you HAD to go on Sunday. My friends who went willingly and never missed a Sunday were a mystery to me. My daughter was looking for a home church when she returned home from college and she was trying different churches in Sacramento with her friends. She felt like she found that home when she found Project Church and I went with her for Christmas Eve service. I was a total CEO (Christmas and Easter Only). But that one day of church led to 2 and 3 and then I went to their Next Steps program and before you know it I was serving on teams and I became one of those people who loves going to church. If I miss a service I feel like my week is just off. The worship team so great! The pastors are all so excited to share the word of God with us every week. There are a lot of chances to get involved. But if you aren't the type to want to be involved, come anyway. Set your week on a positive course. Everyone is welcome and I mean EVERYONE. Come as you are. The church is an Assemblies of God Church, My daughter and I happened to be baptized in another AG church but we weren't necessarily looking for one. This is a church who loves people and loves God and it is a great place to call home. read more
