My last experience as a new home owner- I don't blame these people- this is just a way for the governmental bodies to avoid responsibility for any builders' incompetence - my advice- when the builder goes through the deficiency list either tape or video tape it. Mine took 3 hours, and my head was spinning after 1. Also get your own people to inspect the work- don't just count on the city. It's more important it be done right the first time. Once the paint is on, pretty hard to tell if the vapour barrier was done correctly. With this company it makes a big difference who you are working with. I suggest if the communication is off to ask for another agent. I wish I had. They did get the builder to fix a few things, and they weren't terrible, but they rely on building codes-not whether the house works the way it is supposed to. Progressive Home Warranty is not a good company to register with for new Home Warranty program. They keep collecting the premium fees for warranty coverage and provide no support to Home Builders. They don't even follow their performance guide for the determination of warrantable items or complete the site visit. Their staff is arrogant and does not work well with their clients/home builders. Talking with other Home Warranty providers they will never make the determination purely based on pictures and not visiting the site. You can sometimes get misleading information from from pictures and prevent Progressive Home warranty from supporting fair and equitable resolution of claims. I will never recommend this company for the warranty program registrations. Builders Beware!! read more

This business is a Warranter for new home builds. Supposedly it protects the home buyer from deficiencies in their home. I found their online process so confusing that I hired my own inspector, then physically took his report and handed it in to their office. That part went great, which is why my score of 3 is so high. Then I was given a new person, a case file worker, who was very difficult to talk to. I later, (much later) realized that she had to have an email trail of every conversation and so preferred to only communicate through emails. I am a telephone or text person, so not that great for me but I can accept work requirements. I discovered though that, In my opinion they are just there to check boxes. My house, brand new, has been inordinately hot in the summer and the humidity has been wonky in the winter. After much investigation on my part, I discovered that there was no soffit venting in the house. Only passive venting on the roof, some near the top on one side and some near the bottom on the other side. It's been months of going back and forth on this one issue, and as we've been in a heat wave these past three weeks, I am getting cranky. My old house, built in '62, without the airtight insulation of this one, stays cool all day, (if you close the curtains.) so the latest, after my inspector came back and quoted the violation codes to them, is that I have to wait for her boss to come back from holidays on Monday and take a look at it. If this gets fixed with their help I might improve my rating- but if I'm still suffering with this in September, their rating might be going the opposite direction of my heat stroke. read more
