My daughter's been attending P-TKD for the last 3 years, and she loves it, and so do we. On top of TKD, she learns discipline, self-control, pride, and other skills that are really helpful for a kid her age (8yo). And she's made so many friends. The staff are warm, kind and responsive, but also firm, and very diverse. The owner, Grandmaster Kim, is really funny and great. I have been training at Professional Tae Kwon Do for over a year now and I have never seen any of the negative things mentioned in Simon's review. The instructors themselves are warm and friendly. It was their great personalities that made me choose P-TKD over other dojangs. As for the instructor's English, it is very easy to understand and I have never had a problem communicating with any of the instructors. There are classes every day, with times that are very convenient for me. PTKD practices forms, sparring and technique work (I really enjoy the sparring). I spend 4-5 nights a week at P-TKD and thoroughly enjoy my time. read more

That's a great way to teach a kid self-discipline and respect. Although it provides good skills of agility, balance and basic self-defense for a kid, it is much more about behavior and attitudes towards peers and parents. At the beginning my son Alikhan was shy and timid, but the instructors are great, especially Grandmaster Kim, Master Her, and Instructor Alex. They instilled my son that he will achieve good results, and it worked! No harsh push, no pressure, only strict voice and personal example - that works great for kids. I was surprised by positive changes in my son after a very short period. In about 2 month he was totally involved in Tae Kwon Do. Now he is white and blue belt, this Saturday he will get his promotion to white and black. Great progress for a kid who returned home twice refusing to enter the door. Signing up for classes at Professional Tae Kwon Do was the best thing I did for myself last year. The motivation? To get my 95 beats per minute heart rate, which is in the very poor range of normal, down. Eight months later, my heart rate is in a good range for my age, so my primary goal is accomplished. But I gained something so much more than better fitness. I found a healthy way to relieve stress and cope with work related and personal hardships. It has made me a healthier person, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Professional Tae Kwon Do is a top class operation run by top class instructors, Grand Master Kim, Master Her, and Instructor Alex. They have made this TKD experience astoundingly better than my last one at an Ivy League school. I could not recommend this dojang highly enough. read more

To be honest, I may not be the best to review the dojang as I was only there once. My friend who was training there invited me to a friends and family day. The instructors were very friendly and the Dojang had a warm, welcoming atmosphere. That unfortunately was the highlight of the school. The class I took consisted of kata demos and mindlessly striking pads. There were a couple of problems. First, the instructors have a rather limited grasp of English. This would be fine, but it translates into absolutely no technical information. None of the strikes were presented in context of why or how one could use them. Second, all the exercises were done to mind-numbingly loud techno. It was goofy. They would run a demo, then they would crank the music, and you were expected to GO! Third, there was some adolescent kid literally running around with a black belt needing a lot of attention. In the context of ... ahem... serious training, I don't really feel like babysitting. But it was also distracting and unsafe. Perhaps it's unfair that I am writing a review with one visit, but I surely couldn't stomach a second... Oh, and a little bit off the subject... My friend who was training there actually was asked out by TWO of the instructors at different points. One actually got her number off her file. She quit shortly after that. Really, that's rather unprofessional. They should really name the school "Unprofessional Taekwondo", because, you know... they're named "Professional TKD", but act unprofessional... You know what I mean? "Unprofessional" would be much more fitting don't you think? Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?... read more

Classes are always very punctual and instructors are caring and promote self confidence, organization, honesty, and just so many other aspects you don't get to learn in a classroom. They work on physical aspects such as agility and stamina, as well. Everyone's always so supportive of your achievements, and they help in every way they can. read more

I am completely impressed by the quality and attention to detail offered at Professional Taekwondo. My 7 year old son is shy and timid and the instructors welcomed him and put him at ease from the first class. There are no less than 3-5 instructors for a class of 13-15 kids. This has been our experience for the 3 classes we have done so far. The instructors are very good about splitting up the class by level and giving the newer kids a little extra attention. They are both firm and nurturing which goes a long way to putting my son at ease. Plus they play fun music! I am delighted my son has finally found a group activity he loves. read more

Had my 4yo in a "Little Tiger" program this past summer. The place is not horrendous, but I do have some bones to pick. First, the "Master" (there are two) who seems to be the owner, writes on the lapel of the children's uniform their names in English on left - than Korean translation of name on right side lapel. My son only had his name written in English. This made me feel excluded. I don't know the reason of this (my son was very inquisitive & not the most physically inclined kid so this gave me the sense that they were sending me vibes that he wasn't cut out for that environment). There was another child who enrolled later than my son & he had both names on both lapels. Like I said previously: This made me feel excluded. The second Master would completely ignore us & he had a major air of pretentiousness. Whatever. Little things & vibes like that. I'm a paying customer so needless to say I want the same attitude (attitude is everything) than other paying customers. Their bathroom was dirty. Not filthy, but not squeaky clean either. I never saw paper towels or nothing else to wipe hands with (gross), so I was forced to use their toilet paper to dry my hands with & everyone knows how much fun that is! The only thing I enjoyed was the young instructor. He was patient, skillful & respectable. Overall, the place is not bad & if you truly are set on learning TKD this aint a bad place, but sadly my experience wasn't the best. read more

Professional TKD is an awesome place to study tkd. I have been studying tkd there for 4 years with my children. The children's program is are quite structured and progressive and they allow each child to progress at the rate that is appropriate to that child. There adult classes are slightly less structured but that does not detract from the overall experience. The instructors are very patient while still pushing both adults and child to their potential. I am sure that if the person who visited one time had actually attended more than one time, all of the attributes I describe above would become apparent. I would say that anyone who is a serious student of TKD would have a bit more respect and not to make that kind of snap judgement. Perhaps though the reviewer does not know quite as much about the principles of TKD as they seem to indicate. read more

This Taekwondo place does a great job of mixing up care and nurture to the kids as well as give them discipline . I was in for a great surprise. Originally I joined because I wanted my son to be more focused and in return I have a self confident boy who knows he can conquer the world . Masters/ instructors are very caring and just enough strict for all the kids to take class seriously. It has helped him get out his frustration and feel very strong. He has excelled in a short period time to know his hard work is being rewarded and they also have tournaments and demo team for the competitive girls and boys and adults too.There is a lot for any level you choose to be in. You can go any pace you choose from either going once a week to everyday and competing in tournaments or joining their demo team.My son reminds me daily when the class starts , what equipment is needed and not to be late for class. He feels part of the community and we feel part of the family. The only downside is entering class and leaving can be a little stressful because the one class ends while your class is starting so there is a lot of foot traffic but this has not stopped me from joining or enjoying it. read more
