Great agency- we called multiple agents to try to get help during a claim and this was the only one who took the time to help

They troll mortuary/cemetery corps to sell their burial plan. Then they flip it to True Stage. True…read moreStage has the worst off shore customer service!!! They insist on sending forms by mail! They do not mail said forms until customer makes two calls and mortuary makes three calls for service!!! They will not fax the form to the mortuary. After a month and a half to two months a form is sent only to containing one sentence!!! The customer could have typed this one sentence with their signature and a witness signature! No fax number is printed on the letter or the form. This forces the customer to call back. Their AI robot that answers the call takes 5 minutes 20 seconds to go through the prompts. It gets the information wrong EVERY time!!! After several requests to input information from the bot it transfers to agent. There is so much background noise that it cancels out what the agent is saying mid sentence!!! When the agent doesn't understand you because you speak perfect English and they don't, they put you on hold and put you back through the AI bot bot. By this time, twenty minutes have past. Finally, an agent who understands English better is connected to the call only to say that all faxes received take 48 hours to process!!! I highly recommend finding another burial insurance company. To American Memorial, I suggest you end your contract with TruStage and find another company who will provide at least adequate customer service. Keep in mind your target market. Many of your customers are older and may get fed up with the customer no service that TruStage gives.

Let me say..I don't write negative comments about companies or people in general. But I am mad,…read morefrustrated and disappointed with TruStage, American Memorial Life Insurance Company. I purchased a funeral plan from a local funeral home in Hawaii. I paid my premium monthly for over a year and life happened and I no longer wanted the policy. I was told to contact TruStage. TruStage sent me a Policy Surrender Form on September 20, 2025. I mailed the form back to address notes on the letter in 10/01/25. I called a few weeks later and was told it wasn't received. I emailed the same form to the email noted on their 9/20 letter on 11/20/25 and 01/12/26. I was told again today (4/7/26) the form wasn't received. The customer service rep told me the back office checks the email and there may have been a problem uploading the form. (WOULDNT YOU HAVE THOUGHT IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM AN EMAIL WOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TO ADVISE) The rep wasn't able to check an email log either. I was told the form I submitted multiple times is outdated so the correct form could be faxed to me. I don't have a fax. I asked for it to be emailed. I COULDNT be emailed due to privacy so my only option was to have it mailed. I am going to fill it out and find someone to fax it back to them so I can have proof the fax was successfully received. Once received it will take up to 30 days to process. This is ridiculous. I am so disappointed with the service. Next time I will do better research when buying a funeral plan to ensure all communication stays local.

Very disappointed with Herrmann. I rarely leave reviews but wanted to note my experience for anyone…read moreconsidering working with them. I worked with Aaron at Hermann and received a quote on June 5th for my home and auto. It looked great so I asked him to extend the quote to my rental. He got that to me on July 11th and my home quote was $2,586. I then asked for a quote that includes an umbrella policy so we could finalize things and he sent me a quote packet with all policies two weeks later on July 26th. When reviewing, I noticed the home quote went from $2,586 to $3,435 (!!) with no changes in the policy or deductibles. I asked about it and he said that Travelers had a rate change on the 14th and that "stuff like this happens more than you'd like to see". State Farm was now the most cost effective option so we let him know we'd be staying with State Farm for our home and auto but would still like to get a standalone quote for our rental. So he worked up a new quote with American Modern and sent it to me on July 29th. On August 21st, I let him know we'd like to move forward with it (our insurance was set to lapse on the 27th). At this point, the frustrations have been centered around decisions outside their control. Premium changes by Travelers, deductible changes, etc but this all changed over the next few days. On August 22nd, three business days before my insurance was set to lapse, he told me American Modern doesn't offer extended replacement costs and that he wasn't sure coverage was sufficient. I sent him my AmFam renewal and State Farm quote which both had dwelling coverages of under $500k and no extended replacement costs either and let him know we were okay with the $500k policy as he even stated the property value at $486k. He let me know he'd speak to his boss but he wasn't sure he'd approve it. All this happened last minute as well, well after we had an agreed upon policy quote. Morning of August 22nd - he said his job is frustrating with changes and that he shouldn't have given me the quote. I let him know we're okay with the $500k coverage and that he'd speak to his boss. This was before 9am and he said he'd try his best to get the answer today. Evening of August 22nd - After following up at 4:30, he said his boss' light has been red all day and he was still waiting to hear back. August 23rd - I called him at 3pm as I hadn't heard back. We're now 2 business days away from lapsing coverage. He hadn't spoken with his boss yet but told me he'd probably say no. So I told him I'd sign a liability waiver stating I would not pursue any additional rebuilding costs beyond the $500k limit if I was to experience a total covered loss. He let me know he didn't see a reason to decline it if I take on that extra liability and that he'd check with his boss. I asked him if he can call me back by EOD to keep me posted even if there was no update. He promised he would. I never heard back. I called, emailed and texted. The day before my insurance lapsed, I left a pleading voicemail to call me back as he assured me he'd get back to me well before anything lapsed. I was able to find another company that took care of me in time. I understand we live in an ever evolving insurance world right now and agents are dealing with frustrated clients because underwriters and insurance companies are constantly changing pricing and terms. But when the ball went to Hermann's quote, they pulled the quote out from under me last minute and went radio silent. If you have an insurance need, I'd recommend thinking twice before choosing Hermann. Had I continued to rely on his word, I'd be sitting with lapsed coverage right now and a slew of unreturned communications. Also, because I see that this agency responds to most negative reviews, I would like to state I have emails backing up every single point I've made here. I understand mistakes happen and unforeseen circumstances come up. Maybe Aaron got sick or had to call out of work. But I was left holding the bag without any responses to any of my communication attempts.
