Biblioteca Vasconcelos is a library located in Mexico City but it's not just a typical library…read more It's a unique library that has a futuristic design with floating bookshelves all over. Like other libraries this one is free and you should not make too much noise because people are still here reading or focusing. The library spans multiple floors and was a little dim and it was hard to take pictures. However, the architecture was still really cool to see. I wouldn't come out of my way to come here but I was planning on visiting the area so it was a nice stop.

It took some searching in the metro to find the sculpture, and at least I learned yet another new…read moreword today. Escultura- Sculpture. The sculpture itself was much smaller than I envisioned, but it was unique none-the-less. It was very cool to see indeed. In fact, there are sculptures and other artwork like this all throughout the metro system. Definitely most of the larger stations have something interesting to look at. I like the unique lighting and artwork along the huge passageways in La Raza. I also believe that Hidalgo close to where I live has something cool to see. This particular sculpture has some unique history behind it, and there is a plaque on the wall that describes it.

This statue is inside the Metro Balderas station. When I visited, there were musicians sitting at…read morethe foot of the statue, jamming out, playing some uplifting music to soothe the commute. This statue was erected to commemorate a local guitar/harmonica folk singer who sang a song about this very metro station. The statue is a bit larger than life, and a great piece of public art that makes the transit through the Mexico City subway more interesting! I really appreciate that Mexico City has put up these works of art to give the stations a unique identity. I'm happy to see that Rockridgo is living today with young musicians jamming out for a few pesos, making the commute delightful.

At this station make sure your senior/handicap enters on the left side, so assure a seat. You can accompany them on that side too. The -2 stars is because there is zero discount for seniors/handicap. Which I think is extremely unfair since metro & metrobus give them free unlimited access. Also the need for a 2nd type of prepaid card is a hassle especially bc I've only used it twice in my life & never carry it. So I have to purchase another if I forget it or don't plan ahead. Let alone if you're a tourist in a group, every person needs one bc its non shareable unlike meteo/metrobus!!!

I came here and somehow managed to run into a children's kickboxing league. I was looking for an…read moreATM (near the back of the building, past all the shops) and came across a permanent looking ring, where a 6 year old boy was wailing on a 8 year old girl. The kids were covered in padding, so it's not like they were in any real danger. The shops are nice- good for travelers, and people who are commuting on the trains. Sleek marble surfaces and chrome are the decor here, so it looks nice. It feels safe here. There's plenty of things going on around here- a bus station and a big library are next door. The station has a bunch of subway lines that come/go from here. They have a little model train that is supposed to go around on a track past miniature rural scenes. However that wasn't working, and a full scale model train that wasn't working either. Out in front of the station, tacos and other street foods are sold for ridiculously cheap prices. On the side of the station is the Plaza of the Americas- a nice open place to hang.
