I have Type II Diabetes, and my PCP told me that I could get Podiatry services every 3 months…read morethrough Medicare. I had thought that Penn State Health accepted Medicare for full payment for services at this clinic. Wrong. I went to a Podiatrist to have my toe nails cut and requested Topical medication to cure toe nail fungus. The Doctor was great and addressed my medical needs. She spent about 20 minutes with me and had a prescription called in to my Pharmacy. Several Weeks later I get a bill for $359 for her services. Medicare covered $244 and I got a bill for $114.00. I went to their office and asked if I could get installment payments. I am living on Social Security. They told me to contact their Hershey office about payments. The woman that took my call at Hershey said that if the amount is under $200 they don't ACCEPT installment payments. She sent me some forms to fill out requesting to have my balance written off by Penn State. The forms they sent me were ridiculous. They wanted me to mail them copies of my last 4 bank statements in addition to another bunch of BS. NO way i would do that instead of just sending them installment payments. My account numbers is none of their business. As far as I know, they MUST accept installment payments by law. So guess how much they are getting? Anything Penn State is a RIP OFF. From their tuition to parking, to anything Penn State, RIP OFF. Find a different Podiatrist and save yourself a headache. Penn State Health is for rich people.

Being in the meadows was the most traumatizing thing that's happened so far in my life…read more This was 4 years ago, but only recently have I stopped having intense reactions to talking about my expiriences. April 1st to April 13th 2022 I was pressured into signing the agreement papers without any time or the space I needed to be able to read them. I was then strip searched in a hallway where I could clearly see people walking by. And led to the "group" room There were barely any windows and the place was COVERED in locks and alarms. I was put on meds without my knowledge the first night. I didn't even know where the med counter was yet. Everytime I asked a question, it would get brushed off(I do not have any specific examples, as its been so long) They do not separate the people struggling with rage and people struggling with stuff like anxiety. I saw a girl get punched in the face while watching shrek and THEY KEPT BOTH TEENS in the SAME AREA We were not allowed to make lasting friendships. We would get a group scolding everytime someone tried to exchange a phone number. One time including a worker slammed the door and started crying while scolding us about not making friends in there. They would promise meeting with a therapist one on one, and did not tell me until my discharge that "that's not something we do" They did not tell me my release date until I issued a 72 notice hour form. Every 2 or 3 nights, a nurse would wake me up for a blood check(normal, as I was on like 5 meds in there) and everytime they would miss my veins and I had a bruise spanning my entire forearm(I named it Harold) We were not allowed to make any kind of physical contact, which I think makes sense, but we were not allowed to hug. A group of struggling 13-17 year old (I was 14 with a 17 year old roomate(at first)) and you do not allow them any kind of physical reassurance??? Pressing my back into a corner was the closest I could get. Overall, I cannot take psychiatric meds or have bloodwork done anymore without freaking out Or automatic blood pressure cuffs, those HURT This place was in not theraputic in the slightest

Never go here or send anyone you love here…read more A family member was recently a patient there, arriving for care on a voluntary admission because of suicidal thoughts, and what she needed was a safe place in which to receive thoughtful therapeutic care. This is the opposite of what she received. Among the issues that she reported: A male patient sexually assaulting a female patient and attempting to assault our family member and other women, while the sparse staff did nothing to prevent him continuing to wander loose in the unit. Due to the understaffing, the phone on the unit often went unanswered, so that the family members could not reach her despite frequently repeated tries during the permitted client phonecall hours of 7-9pm. Likewise, our messages on the staff voicemail to request a family conference with the nurse or doctors went unanswered. There was nearly no therapy and while she was told upon admission that they had all of her regular meds in stock, this proved not to be the case and so she did not have access to one of her meds while she was there. She was also not informed for a few days that she needed to formally request to be released before the 72 hour wait began; and then it was 96 hours because there was no doctor available on the Sunday when the 72 hour wait was up to sign her release form. They were very very nice and respectful and made us aware of everything that was going to happen. The food here was very very good but not always hot one brought to her room. She had physical therapy and occupational therapy during the week and on the weekends she had a little break. All the nurses were exceptional and were very helpful with anything she needed. I would highly recommend this rehab facility coming from a family of healthcare providers we know what we're looking at and I truly have to say this place was amazing.
