I have been putting off leaving this review for almost a week now, as an altercation with Drashko and his secretaries led to a police confrontation. This, from my understanding, ended with them getting told off by an officer and also left me emotionally distraught. To summarize, Drashko is a quick-to-anger, aggressive and unreasonable man who has manipulative secretaries to back him up.
On June 24th, I attempted to submit my application online three times for the Insurance Reduction course. It did not work, so I phoned the school and Olga told me that their website was down. She booked me over the phone with a great schedule for my on-road lessons, all at noon and on a fairly even interval that worked. She told me that I could pay when I come in the next day for my theory classes, and this seemed straightforward to me. I transferred the money I would need from my savings to my chequing account as soon as the call ended in preparation for the payment.
The next day I entered the building 11-12 minutes before the class was supposed to start. I walked to the classroom where I met Brent, an amazing instructor who I would rate 12/10 if I were able to leave a separate review. He told me that I was the first in class and made a joke about how early I was. He let me know that I should go get a snack, as he noticed I didn't get any before, which I decided to do. At this point I assumed he knew that I still needed to pay, as he took attendance later and we had our names on cue cards. When I returned to class around five minutes later, I saw that it was about to begin. I assumed that I was supposed to pay after class, as I was not told anything about payment yet. This did not seem odd to me, as I have taken private classes before where you would pay right before you leave.
Brent told us to either put our phones on silent or turn them off, so I turned mine off and kept it in my bag. After 40 minutes or so, a couple of ladies entered the back of the class and mentioned to Brent that a student would not be attending today. I didn't think much of this at the time, as I thought they were talking about another individual from this class or a different class they are conducting. I believe that this was a logical conclusion, an average person in this situation would not assume that they were the one being spoken about.
When we took our first break, I turned on my phone and saw two missed calls with voicemail. One of the secretaries said that they had cancelled my schedule as I had not attended the class that day. Baffled, I phoned them back, but they did not answer my call. I tried calling them 10 times, concerned about what they had said in their message, before leaving a voicemail stating that I was in the class and that I had not picked up the phone as I was told to turn it off by the instructor. I asked them not to cancel my schedule, if they have not done so already.
I notified Brent immediately and he told me not to worry, he said that the ladies had been waiting out in front of the building to do a standard screening and collect payment. I had not been previously notified of this through email or phone. For the rest of the class, I kept my phone on silent with the screen up, so that I would see if one of the secretaries responded to me. Close to the end of class, I received text messages from them saying how they had waited for me until 30 minutes after the class started. I had to repeat twice that I had arrived at the class 10 minutes early, as they thought I came in late. They apologised for not telling me about the procedure and not being able to spot when I entered the building. I was polite and told them not to worry about it, as I understand that mistakes happen, and asked how I can pay.
They said cash or cheque would suffice, but I did not have either and the closest ATM for my bank was 15 minutes the opposite way from my home. I informed them that I could only pay with debit and they did not respond to that statement. They then told me that they will reschedule me, but there might be minor changes. A change to one of my onroad lessons would not bother me, but the next evening I received an email with a completely different schedule that would not work for me whatsoever. I called them soon after, and, unsurprisingly, they did not pick up my call. I told them that I shouldn't suffer the repercussions of their error and emphasised that this schedule would not work as I would not be able to make it to most of these classes.
The day after, I attended the class again and gave Brent a Hotwheels car, as I really appreciated how passionate and hilarious he was in class and how understanding of my situation he was throughout this ordeal. I did the test and was the first to complete and pass it, which made me really happy. I soon called the secretaries again, as I had not received a response, and immediately requested to talk to the manager as I felt that I was circling around the problem with them. They informed me that h read more
