Cautionary Experience with Funks Lawn Care Service - Fargo, ND…read more I'm sharing this review after nearly a year of disappointing experiences with Funks Lawn Care Service. Despite multiple opportunities to address concerns, the quality of their work and lack of communication have been consistent issues. In Fall 2024, we hired Funks to aerate and overseed our the front yard. However, despite our instructions, the crew also aerated the backyard and, in the process, damaged a sprinkler head that required replacement. During the Winter of 2024-2025, their snow removal service caused significant damage to our front lawn by pushing and driving snow over the curb, which tore up a large swatch of grass. In Summer 2025, we brought them on to handle regular mowing. Unfortunately, their emphasis on speed over quality has resulted in: * Ruts and visible damage from careless use of a riding mower, * Excessive grass clippings left behind, and * Trimming that has damaged garden flowers and milkweed due to lack of care. We also contracted Funks to replace a section of sod in the backyard. Despite clearly requesting that no chemicals be used, their team sprayed herbicides anyway, killing more grass than was replaced. To make matters worse, the sod was installed without proper ground leveling, resulting in poor drainage and a section of sod that never took and has since died. They've declined to take responsibility for replacing it, and instead quoted us an additional $800 to replace the dead sod. Throughout all of this, we've tried to be flexible and understanding, but the ongoing issues and refusal to acknowledge or correct mistakes have led us to a breaking point. The owner has ties to our neighborhood and we really wanted to support a super-local small business. But based on our experience, I cannot recommend Funks Lawn Care Service for any residential lawn care needs and we will not be using them for any of our future work. Edit: Amending this to say that we mowed the new sod (where it was alive), and the install is so uneven, you could barely take two steps without twisting your ankle. I'm so disappointed in the quality of Funk's work. Seriously - if you're looking for a lawn care solution, keep looking, and don't linger on Funk's.

I went outside to talk to him and he loaded up and left me with a large pile of beautiful sandy loam dirt sitting in my driveway. He wouldn't talk to me. He posted on Facebook that his machine is a piece of crap and needed improvement to work right but blamed my product for not finishing the project. He brought out a mini skid steer of his own but couldn't figure out how to operate it, he used mine without permission and ran it out of diesel. He is now demanding I pay him his full amount in cash to him. He called me a "Libtard" because "Libtards" don't pay their bills. This is after I told him I'll pay for work that was done. Lol. Stay clear of this guy. He really thinks he something special. There Is was better choices after doing some research. Even 1 guy with a shovel would have been better than this guy. Glad I've got cameras on my house and shop because this guy is out of this world.
