However, there are many entrepreneurs who take the course. There are extra, optional sessions in the evening that are extremely helpful to those looking to break into the ice cream business. The Ice Cream Short Course is ideal for a very serious and focused attendee who will learn the true SCIENCE of ice cream. Another course called Ice Cream 101 is held separately and that is three days in length. It is geared primarily to the small business owner. It is recommended to stay at the Nittany Lion Inn, where the class is based. The class accommodates about 150 attendees and every year, and there is always a waiting list. The overall experience is excellent. I am still in awe of all the speakers. Most of them have PhD's and spoke of their expertise to an audience with a vast variety of education and background. It is very helpful to have a science or food industry background before you attend this program. The staff did an excellent job of anticipating our needs to make our experience comfortable and as smooth as possible. Make no mistake. This is no cake walk (pun intended). My brain still hurts. It's a lot of information in a short period of time. The statement made several times was that the amount of work we completed in seven days was the equivalent to a 3 or 4 credit hour university class. I went to all the optional sessions, so I will chalk this up to a 4 credit hour class. And I will pat myself on the back for placing 11th academically after the final exam (yes, there's a test!).

The questions he had weren't rocket science, but he was treated as if he had asked the salesperson to personally drive over to look at our fireplace and offer hours of advice. My husband was even willing to take a look at new fireplaces, but that was also apparently asking for too much effort. When you rely on customers (as businesses do, I hear), it's generally good practice to make *some* effort. Absolutely unimpressed.

It should be said that their office completely lacks communication. Different people are responsible for different activities, and NONE of them communicate! It took three attempts to get their sign person to put the "under contract" sign on the house instead of the "open house" sign. Their scheduler didn't know the house was contract or the black out dates where inspections couldn't happen. The only successful way to get ANYTHING done was repeatedly yelling at the realtor and including the co-owner on it. Because just yelling at the realtor didn't work. Things were late, poorly done, the realtor couldn't remember facts about the house, had difficulty understanding things. Basically if there wasn't a script for it, she was useless. If there was a script for it, she needed to be hand held through the whole process. She never kept track of important dates and made sure things got done, we always had to contact her (or the scheduler directly) to get anything done. Basically, working with JULIE HUGHES at Weichert was HORRIBLE.

We used Doulas of Central PA during the birth of our first child in 2024. We had struggled with the…read moredecision a lot because of the cost, but ultimately made up our mind after researching the positive effect the presence of a doula has on desired birth outcomes. We had an incredibly positive experience and my husband and I have said many many times since then how grateful we are that made this choice. As soon as we hired them during pregnancy, much of the weight/stress/worry about childbirth was lifted. We had both a primary and backup doula, both of whom we got to know through zoom calls and in-person meetings. The fact that even if our primary doula was unavailable for any reason during our birth, we would still have a wonderful doula who we knew well and were comfortable with gave us so much peace of mind. They both came to our house during the third trimester to teach us tactics to use during early labor and birth, and to talk through any questions we had. Anytime I had a question during pregnancy, they were there to answer it and support us. When labor started and stopped before birth, I contacted our doula (Maria) who helped us interpret what was happening, when to remain at home, and when to go to the hospital. When I was told I needed to be induced for a medical reason at our last appointment, I was incredibly worried and anxious, but contact Maria and she helped me understand what was happening, that it was the correct choice to make, and was on her way to us right away. During birth, Maria was incredible. She has an absolute gift. She helped me stay calm and comfortable, suggested positions, helped me through each contraction with her calm and reassuring voice, encouraging me to relax my body, breathe through it, etc. To be honest, that description really downplays the effect this had on the birthing experience. I know that without Maria there, I would not have done anywhere near as well. Maria helped us decide if/when I wanted an epidural, and helped us stay calm through any complications. Maria worked beautifully with my husband, seeming to know when he needed a break, when I needed both of them, and when to let us have a moment together. After our daughter was born, Maria took pictures of us as a family enjoying golden hour, helped with first latch, and made sure I had anything I needed, even feeding me to make sure I regained some nourishment. She checked in on us after that day, and visited our house to check in on us and see how she could support us a week or two later. The bottom line: Pregnancy and birth were full of lots of decisions and choices, and in the moment they all seemed very important and impactful. But looking back, the single most important decision we made, the one that made the most difference, with the absolute best results, was hiring Doulas of Central PA. We would do it again in a heartbeat.

All of a sudden, the day prior to the event, we suddenly had no water from any of our faucets. We were in a real bind and were hoping we could get help right away so as not to have to cancel our plans. We thought that maybe the well water pump had died. So after a search I called Hull's Well Drilling, LLC, in Bellefonte, PA at 8:30 in the morning and was connected with a truly terrific fellow named Keith Strasko who assured me they could deal with our situation that very day. Within a few hours he and his son Mason arrived at our home from the next town and went right to work diagnosing the problem. They found a faulty pressure switch which they replaced along with a new gauge. Fortunately didn't have to replace the well pump. Within a short time they had found the problem, fixed it then and there, and they tested everything meticulously before leaving. It was a blessing to have guys like this willing to work us into their busy schedule and save the day! On top of all this, it was a real pleasure meeting them and talking with them.
