Spa is used very loosely. It's not like those Day spas like Hand and Stone. They do offer foot baths, a relaxing massage and what have you to put it in a "spa" category. What I need in a massage is pain relief, not the frills of a typical overrated spa setup. Price wise is very reasonable. American spas can go at least $90 for 50min ( I've spent $140 for a 60min massage before TIP at one of those "Day Spa" places) when this place is $60 for 60min, I get way more out of it than those places like Sanctuary Spa or Hand and Stone. ( Spent $90 + $30 tip at Sanctuary just 2 days ago just because my sister in law wanted a facial and ended up having to come to k8 massage after work to relieve the pain still residing in my lower back) This Place is simple, and clean. Divided into rooms, but the " door " is a curtain, no biggy. Can't really hear other people talking unless they're talking loud. Any time I've went it was pretty quiet. Definitely recommend Sarah. I have major back pain and I feel so much relief after seeing her. Just make sure to let them know what kind of massage you want or you'll get the basic Swedish massage. They always ask how much pressure I want and time to time throughout the massage they'll ask if the pressures' okay. So I've had no issue with communication. It's sad to see that this place has 1 Star on Yelp when it doesn't deserve that at all. Communication is key, if it's too rough just say something, you have a specific spot you need attention on? Just say so. Ever since I've got my massage from Sarah I've been boasting to everyone about this place. It's a miracle that I can find some relief for my back. I definitely will be coming here on a regular basis.

From her nurturing demeanor and professionalism I felt at ease... even from the first few moments i knew this was going to be a cathartic session because of how safe i felt. She works with beautiful music, and crystals and sage and big metal singing bowls and her hands. Its a wild paradox that someone can hold you lightly and also with strength and certainty and you feel comfortable to let go. Yes i cried. I hate crying and it was amazing. My whole body was lighter and i was having visual experiences that made sense- its a beautiful and rare thing to feel that your cells got nourishment. Truly cathartic and bonus was the enchanting lightness i carried with me from her session. This is part of my wellness routine

She begins each session with a conversation so that she can truly meet you where you are and provide a wholistic approach to what you need to heal. Whether that is an emotional or physical release, a deepened connection with source, an energetic balancing or cleansing, or so on. Every session is unique to where I am at in my physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual bodies. She always seems to know what is wrong before I open my mouth, but she always holds space for me within her loving glow. Emily has an incredible way of making you feel instantly comfortable, even the most advanced of wall builders, like myself. I have broken down into tears before getting on the table, had massive physical releases, and healed in ways I thought weren't possible. She has guided me through deep emotional trauma as well as physical trauma (I had abdominal surgery to remove 15 tumors in 2016). I will say it's not all glitter and romance, there are often hard lessons to be learned and dealt with, and they can be difficult (but always necessary) and she guides you through it with light and love. I could go on and on, but really my words will mean nothing. What Emily offers is intuitive and experiential. Everyone's session is powerful, uniquely their own, and always far beyond what they expected. She is a true facilitator for your healing journey and I am blessed to have her in my life. My advice: go in to your session with an open mind and ready to receive her gifts.

I had never tried reiki before I met Marie. She did an excellent job explaining both the scientific…read moreand more ethereal sides of the practice, and I decided to try a first session, just to see how I felt. I arrived at her office a few minutes ahead of my appointment and filled out the necessary paperwork. The waiting room has plush furniture, smells beautiful and has soft lighting. When it was time to begin, I entered the room with a table (similar to a massage table.) The natural light pouring through the windows, calming music and lovely and minmalistic decor all added to the feeling of peace I felt immediately. I laid face up, got comfortable and the session began. Since we had talked about what to expect, I felt prepared for the hands held over points of my body (not touching), and some of what was said (some statements, some questions that are a brief conversation between her and I). But I was not prepared for the intense feelings I experienced - like glowing light radiating from my core, a soft, warm blanket enveloping my body, the feeling of my breath in my chest and my heart beat and blood in my veins more significant - both physically and mentally. The entire experience lasted about 90 minutes, but it felt more like 30-40. I was never unconscious, but felt close to a dream-like state for much of the session. Marie's voice was soothing and she herself exudes a bright energy that is both calming and invigorating. I honestly can say that the first session has already helped me. I feel more centered, more in tune with my body, more aware of the way my mind is working and how I am connected to my environment. These things are hard to quantify (I feel 60% more aware!) but I can tell you the feeling is like none other. Similar to self care routines of exercise, massage and preventive doctor visits, I will be incorporating reiki into my routine. I live in Philadelphia, but will gladly make the trip to Swarthmore to visit Marie again soon. If you are considering reiki, this would be a perfect first experience.

I'm sure reiki is now my favorite. Marie knows her stuff. She's been doing this for 27 years. She teaches reiki and is very encouraging, telling me anyone can learn and ultimately help themselves. I will be back and I hope to be a student soon too. I recommend a visit to Marie to relax and feel fantastic. You have to try it.
