Horrible!!!! I told the store manager I needed to purchase a pair of school shoes for my child. And explained he wears a 4.5 he showed me the Jordan 12 obsidian and said it's a size 4 but they run big so it should fit him just fine. However that was wrong I came in to exchange and was told all sales are finals. It was never said to me during my initial purchase. And his response was well it's stamped on every receipt. Very fair store by doing first come first serve! Owner is a cool dude and the employees are all helpful. Come in on a normal day and all the employees are glad to help you. Besides shoes, they also have a wide variety of apparel, keep doing the FCFS and raffles PRIVATE! I've personally copped some clothes from here and the only bad thing is the EPTM pants are super low quality, they started ripping by the thigh region. Avoid that brand. The service I received wed was a total 180. I called within 10 minutes of the store posting about the Nike Reacts, I asked the employee if they had a size 9 and he told me yes. I confirmed once more before getting off the phone and I was reassured. I had until 1 to arrive and I got there at 1235, the guy on the phone wasn't transparent on the phone so I wasn't sure about the pick up procedure. I walk up to see if the door was open, as I'm walking up another lady is walking up and he asks her to wait in the car so I follow instructions as well. Still not sure about the process I call to let them know I'm here to pick up shoes and the guy on the phone, clearly frustrated, tells me "ok yes, one customer at a time" And hangs up. I wait 10 minutes in my car, still not aware of the process and finally an employee walks up to tell me whoever I spoke to didn't check and they don't have my size. It's definitely frustrating because I drove 20 minutes for nothing because someone didn't want to put in minimal effort after I asked him two times. The employee doesn't even offer me a solution. I'd think a manager would come out to address the situation. Nope, the employee says the shipment might come later today or tomorrow. I have to come up with a solution of giving him my number so they can let me know. I ended up not sending my info over. As frustrating as this experience was I chose to let the owner know instead of writing a public review about it. I tell him and he apologizes but doesn't offer me ANY solution. The whole point of customer service is to address a problem and provide a solution. It's clear why the employee didn't have a solution, it's because the owner isn't bright enough to think of one himself. He could've offered free shipping or 10% off to come back and pick it up. Could've offered something on my next purchase. Nope, he doesn't offer any of that. If I had gotten the shoes I'd have to drive double the amount time for the same result. Doesn't seem fair considering it wasn't my error. Not happy writing this review because I'm all about supporting small business. You'd think the owner would appreciate people supporting him during this difficult time but apparently not. Tried reaching out to see if there was a solution but he stopped replying. This place is awesome. I discovered it after leaving Staples and walking to the pet store, and was drawn in by the extensive variety of Adidas classics they had in the window. The woman at the register was super friendly, and the other guy was really accommodating as I asked to try on 3 different styles in 2 different sizes :) I ended up leaving with a pair of shoes, and they were reasonably priced too. This place is dope. I go to allot of streetwear spots and I gotta say Private is the illest. The store layout is done right, plenty of space without everything crammed up. They get exclusive Js, fresh Nikes, Puma, Staple, Hundreds, Stance and Adidas. All the apparel is current and everybody who works there know their stuff. Gus is real cool. Took my 12yr old son there to buy some shoes ($100+). 2 employees in the store, no customers. (1/26/18 1pm) Did not acknowledge us in any way when we walked in. Started to check out the shoes and noticed that the music that was on was completely inappropriate for a business, songs kept repeating the N word and the F word. Shout out to the store for the amazing customer service! I did a phone order for a pair of Adidas ZX Fluxes that recently came out at retail price, and the process was very smooth. The lady who helped me out checked to make sure my size was available, and sure enough they had it. Part of it was being lucky to get through after a few tries since they kept getting calls for it. She took my info down, and said it would be shipped out later that day. I probably spent no more than 5 minutes placing my order. Shipping to my area cost me an extra $10, which I don't mind considering how expensive shipping can be nowadays. Surprisingly, they came earlier than I anticipated, and the shoes are everything I expected, and then some. Looks like next time I'm in the area, Proper won't be the only boutique I check out. I would normally give this place more stars but had bad experience. I bought Christmas gifts there and specifically asked about the return policy. Was told with receipt it would be fine. When my son returned something the first transaction was fine. But then he wanted to return something that off the same receipt which the clerk had not given back. A huge issues ensued with staff being totally rude and making my kids feel like trash. They were given the run around, accused of stealing, and treated like crap because they are young and I wasn't there I guess. It's a long story but suffice to say they were treated really bad, stereotyped (tattooed kids), and made to feel embarrassed. The stuff here is expensive and I shop there every birthday, Christmas, etc. only to be treated like this for a simple post Christmas return. Won't be going back. read more

Hello I came to your Long Beach location tonight with my boyfriend. We called prior to leaving our Newport Beach home to make sure that we would make it on time before you guys closed. We made it here at 8:20 due to traffic and that is why we called in the first place. The doors were locked upon our arrival and the store manager claims that it's policy to lock the doors early bc they need to be out of the store by 8:30. To me that is complete and total bs. why would the hours state that you are OPEN UNTIL 8:30 when that is not the case. This is..well, now was my boyfriends favorite store to buy his shoes at and now he (as well as myself) feel completely disrespected and pissed off.
