Terribly disappointing experience. I had called about selling my used Baldwin because we were moving and spoke with Greg. They had interest and offered to pay me and said I would receive a call for pickup from Clark. For a week I kept following up and finally got a note from Greg that the reason Clark didn't call was because plans had changed and they would not be picking it up. Apparently Clark didn't have the decency or integrity to let me know they would not be picking up the piano and with an upcoming house closing this was very upsetting. Thank goodness I spoke with The Piano Guys who have come for the piano. Pritchards Pianos is not recommended for their lack of integrity. read more

Bottom Line: Clark Dawson, the owner of Dawson String Covers and Pritchards, is a dishonest liar who held my money for months and did not provide the product until it looked like I was about to demand a refund, then he provided it instantly!  He lied to me saying the cover could not be produced/sent, while he supplied others.   I ordered a wool piano strings cover for a Yamaha baby grand in late December, at which time they took my money (about $450), but then told me delivery would be delayed.  I checked back monthly and he'd say no updates yet, their suppliers are not supplying, and  wool is hard to get. As late as 28 July he was still telling me the same thing --  absolutely no info on when the wool will become available. I became fed up and later that day started checking around for options, searching online and contacting multiple providers by email and phone.  Turns out many of these regional providers still get the covers from Dawson, then resell them.  I contacted them on 28 July.  Then, surprise, on 29 July, the day after telling me no word on when wool will become available, Dawson emailed me saying the cover can be made and shipped the next week!!  The regional suppliers had contacted him about availability, he got spooked I might find some alternate cover altogether, and suddenly had covers ready to go - said he could make it and ship next week!  Keep in mind if he got word from his suppliers that day that they were shipping, it would still be time until the wool arrived and the cover could be made, so that is not what happened.  Is it a coincidence that suddenly after I sent out a large set of cover inquiries suddenly his covers were available the next day?? On 1 Aug he again started saying there could be a delay, possibly to 12 Aug.  Right away I said if I don't have a shipping number by 5 Aug I'm cancelling and demanding a refund.  Surprise! Suddenly the next day, 2 August, threatened with a cancellation, he emails and says the cover will be in the mail by the next day 3 August!  I had told Clark Dawson we are in Hawaii, without air conditioning.  He delayed and delayed, instead providing covers to his main customers, while the delay could have damaged my piano given the humid environment.  He lied and delayed until he got a realistic threat of cancellation, then instantly had covers to send. read more

Called about a month or so ago and spoke to one of the sales men in regard to a reasonably priced baby grand piano and asked how much they would give me for a trade in on my Yamaha console. They offered me a lowball price to begin with and I also asked about lay-away since I knew my credit was challenged at that point. Sales man said he would call me back the following day regarding possible lay-away. Needless to say he never called me back and left me with the attitude that this possible sale and a lay-away request wasn't their way of doing business, and was beneath them. I did sense a bit of arrogance from Pritchards. A friend of mine also visited them several months ago and experienced a negative attitude. I guess if you aren't equipped to buy a Steinway.. you aren't their kind of customer. Bought a grand piano elsewhere..with lay-away. read more

A wonderful selection of pre-owned pianos of various manufacturers, new Steinways and Rolands. Gorgeous instruments of the finest quality and sold by a store that has been in business for 54 years. Have to gibe these guys credit. We bought a baby grand for our son to practice on. It's a nice piece of furniture. The staff were very helpful, we didn't want to spend a fortune but wanted something nice in our home. They suggested a few pianos and were very reasonable on price. The delivery guys were great and made light work of setting up the piano. I would not hesitate to recommend them if you are looking for a piano. read more

I have purchased a few things from Clark Dawson, one being a QRS piano player for our grand piano. Just recently I could not get it to work. I finally called Pritchard's and found out that Clark is now the owner. I was delighted to hear this, but better still was the fact he remembered me from five years ago. This is the words experience I ever had, we when for a piano and will like to finance it but because of a prior credit issue that I had was denied the owner Dave ask if I can have someone else apply and I had my dad apply and they did not even wanted to run his application because the Piano will be deliver to my address, then Dave ask if there was another way that we could play for the Piano I again ran out of my way and got my mother to put it on her credit card I call Dave and gave him the CC number and he call me later that afternoon and told me that he could not use the CC because it could be charge back he ask me if I can just do a wire transfer so I got the cash advance from the CC and call him to get his wire transfer information to transfer the money and he did not even wanted to take my call he had his store manager call me and tell me that they have sold the piano and that they will not have another one in stock. Will never do business with someone like this again. read more
