Every plant I've gotten at Scrim's has been beautiful and done really well. I wouldn't really say I have a green thumb, nor am I death to all houseplants--and the staff at Scrim's has always been really knowledgeable and helped me choose plants that are not toxic for my plant-chewing cat and that are pretty easy for me to care for (and therefore won't die on me). The plants have always been healthy and survived the move from the flower shop to my apartment--I have one plant that has doubled in height and is just doing beautifully. I've picked up housewarming gifts here as well, the staff are always really prompt and happy to help. Gold stars all around. Also, they do a great job wrapping up the plants for you. I picked one up in winter one time and she wrapped it a few layers to protect it from the wind and put a cute little ribbon and sticker on it--simple and pretty.

The flowers had to fit in a small glass box, around the urn. I was served by Lynette, a true artist! She immediately called the funeral home to obtain the dimensions of the box and started sketching out desings with dimensions/ created a maquette of the box with a vase to replicate the urn. Lynette was able to provide us with ample visuals of what the arrangement would look like, and we were right to have full faith in her abilities because the final product was SPECTACULAR. My grandmother wanted a cascade of pink and white roses. Stoneblossom not only created two horseshoe arrangements to caress the urn, but a beautiful cascade of pink and white roses to top the box which is exactly what my grandmother would have wanted. We received multiple compliments from friends and family on how gorgeous the floral arrangements were. It really took away from the experience of received surprise flowers. Instead of my house smelling of lovely flowers, it stank of cigarettes for an hour until I threw all of the packaging outside.

The Long Version: I had to make specific plans to visit this store even though it's in my neighbourhood and I walk by it all the time because they are only open Tuesday to Saturday 10am-4pm. So they open after I'm at work and close before I finish and they're close to my home, but not my workplace, so I can only go on Saturdays. Hey, if they can make that work for them (and they do because they have been in business for well over a decade, maybe even more than two decades, as they've been there ever since I moved to the neighborhood), good on them. I would love to work limited hours too, lol. Anyway, I finally made it in to browse the shop. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but poking around for anything interesting that would catch my eye. Admittedly, I have limited space for plants and am at the point in my collection where I'm only looking for small unusual looking plants (think mesembs). I did not find any but enjoyed looking around. They have pretty plants that looked to be in good shape. Nothing too exotic or unusual but a good selection nonetheless. Staff were busy tending to other customers so I did not interact with them, which is fine by me, as I prefer to browse on my own anyway. The store is very cozy and nicely laid out. Prices are higher than greenhouses/garden centres but that's to be expected, since it's a small boutique in Westboro, lol. Prices are comparable to other small plant stores in the city. Since I walk by all the time, I'll keep an eye on their window display and if they get any new and unusual plants, I'll make it a point to drop in again on a Saturday ;) Review #86 (2025)

There is a large selection of arrangements to pick from and I found some really gorgeous ones at very reasonable prices. Today, I had to mark a sad occasion, unfortunately, and I wanted to get the flowers to a friend quickly as she was devastated and alone. Sandy's flower arranger went out of his way to make the arrangement special and sent me pictures so I would know what he was making (very reassuring!). He agreed to a little addition I requested at no charge and the whole order was in my friend's hands within 2 hours. Truly outstanding in my book. She loved it and was very moved by it.
