Since I had only been using TurboTax before, I didn't have much experience in working with professional tax advisors and I contacted Yan after reading some reviews on Google/Yelp. The experience of using her for my CPA was completely different compared to the previous one I had. She was very detailed and meticulous in checking each detail of my situation, and also didn't pretend to know everything - if there was an issue that she wasn't clear about, she didn't hesitate to look up the necessary IRS documentation to make sure that we weren't making any mistakes. Even after our meetings in-person going over documents, she would also follow-up and double-check to make sure that I hadn't inadvertently overlooked something (and she did find a bunch of details that I had filled in incorrectly as well through this process!) She was also more interested in making sure that I understood the process and what each document was for, rather than just taking everything into her own hands and just asking me to "rubber-stamp" documents. I really appreciate her spending the effort to help with my tax literacy. Would definitely recommend Yan if you're looking for a reliable CPA who looks out for your interests, rather than just treating you as yet another client!

I am sure they got PPP money to pay their employees, but the thought of paying it forward was completely lost on them.

Horrible service! I was recommended to this firm from the next door app which I will be posting…read morethere too. I was in dire need of getting my 1099 for my small business completed. I was already 6 days behind completing them. Melissa -the daughter of the owner- knows how to swindle you especially when you are desperate for help. I was told when I came in to pay $350 up front which they never told me that was just a deposit. To my knowledge it was to perform the work. All the work. And she also had said she could do it in a few days (3). Ok so I paid and I put my credit card down for them to keep. Big mistake. Never leave your card for a vendor to keep! After the 4th day I was wondering what was the hold up. They needed two more ein that Melissa never emailed on. I had to reach out and she finally responded after a day. Then she preceded to tell me since she just gotten the new ein number it would take another 5 business days! After two weeks I was asking when they will be done. I know they were slammed and trying to buy time or charge me for that time. I was right when they finally called that they were ready after 2.5 weeks they said my invoice was $1900!! They processed twenty-eight 1099s for me. I was flabbergasted. I said to the front lady Patty which I am sure she is use to swindling people for the Chan's that I was not told it would be more. She said oh yes sweetie we charge by the hour. When the invoice finally came in there were no hours listed!! It was just a straight preparing and rechecking etc all for $1900. I said I'm not paying. I ended up doing my own 1099 through a phone call with Intuit. How long did it take me less than 2 hours! And I'm a novice with QuickBooks. If I can figure it out anyone can. The only advice I can give is to do your due diligence on this firm! This mother daughter team is a modern day Bonnie and Clyde! **Update** see forms below. A picture is worth a thousand words! Do you see deposit or hourly rates listed on them?

I was very pleased with the services of Jonathan Jackel of Rousso & Jackel. Without too much…read moredetail, I was employed for many years by a large out-of-state corporation who forfeited my unused vacation hours each year. When I resigned from the company I requested payment of my forfeited hours of vacation but was rebuffed. I retained Jonathan Jackel after interviewing several other law firms. I hope he is not offended by my comments, but I choose Jonathan because he was the most down-to-earth individual of all the attorney's interviewed. He didn't appear to have a huge ego and he came across as genuine and trustworthy. Also, in my opinion it is important in wage claims cases, particularly in front of the DLSE, to have an attorney who knows the system and who doesn't come off as a slick corporate attorney. On to my story, the company fought my claim and at a DLSE hearing Jonathan represented me while a large corporate law firm attorney from Los Angeles represented the employer. The result was a victory in the DLSE hearing for $33K. But all was not over. Of course my former employer appealed the case to the Superior Court of CA. This meant we started all over again and it eventually ends up with a trial. Although the process took about 3-years due to the court system, we eventually went to trial in front of a Judge, known as a "De Novo" or "bench trial." Again, the slick corporate attorney from LA representing my former employer and Jonathan Jackel representing me. We met beforehand to prepare, even meeting on a Sunday for several hours (wow). Jonathan was well prepared with a trial binder with all exhibits numbered, organized and easy to find. He encourages his client to participate and read all of the materials. Come Monday we start trial, Jonathan makes his opening statement and then I take the stand for the next 4 1/2 hours. Just like the movies, the defense attorney tries to get me to slip up on the witness stand, Jonathan does what he needs to do when appropriate and by the end of the day the judge said she was ready to give us her verdict. Despite the tactics of the defense attorney and their witness who lied, Jonathan stuck to our case and we were victorious, winning a judgement of $48K plus attorney's fees which I am guessing will be about another $17K back to me, for a total of approximately $65K. I highly recommend Jonathan, he is ethical, intelligent, witty and most of all, effective. He knows labor law and how to present an argument on behalf of a plaintiff.

I worked predominantly with Jonathan over the course of several months and his perspective was always transparent and encouraging. It's not often that you find yourself in the position of 'taking on' a former employer, and from personal experience, that feeling can be overwhelming. Should you find yourself in a similar situation, do not hesitate to give Nora or Jonathan a call.
