I stopped in for a regular manicure. First of all, I had trouble communicating with the folks what I wanted services, etc. Really unlike any other place. For my regular manicure, she got out the nail clippers. Usually they ask me how much I want cut down but she didn't. I looked down the next thing. I know she has cut off all my nails, which were quite long. They are nubs. I don't know on what planet you cut off the nails. But again, very hard to communicate with. I'm not going back. I got a gel manicure done a few days before Valentine's Day. I went with my friend and we didn't have an appointment, but they still got us in fairly quickly. For 2 manicures and 2 small decals it came out to be $70. The very next day after getting my nails done, not only did the polish come partially off of my nail, but my nail broke. I didn't even get to enjoy it for a day. The last time I went here, my nails were so brittle they took 4 months to actually grow back and stop breaking. I walked into this shop for a manicure. There was one customer whose toenails were completed and she was waiting for them to dry. There were two employees there. I asked for a manicure, and she said no, she couldn't do my nails. When I asked her why, she said she was busy. Two employees and no other customers!!!! My girls and I love going to this spa. They always accommodate my last minute requests for an apt. They are very nice to the girls and tolerate their crazy requests for different colored nails. I have never experienced a worse and more painful pedicure in my 25 years of pedicures. I was a walk-in and asked for a mani/pedi. After a brief wait someone told a young girl to help me. It was clear from the first "hello" I was an inconvenience to her. She started cutting my nails. When I repeatedly flinched in pain and told her she was cutting my nails too short and it hurt, she actually rolled her eyes at me. When she tried to bend my toes in ways that were more convenient for her but painful for me and I said so, I was met yet again with an eye roll and an aggressive pull of my leg and feet. I started white-knuckling my way through the rest of the pedicure and was grateful when someone tagged her out and finished the job. The manicure (conducted by someone less inclined to inflict pain) was average. The paint on both the toes and fingers began chipping almost immediately. I look forward to trying other establishments and waiting 2 weeks for my toenails to grow back so I can walk without pain. read more

First time trying this place out, upon a recommendation of a co-worker who takes her nieces here. I was able to snag same day appt on a Friday. This place is clean and one of the nicest nail salons I've ever been to. My nail tech was a very nice young lady named Shadai (not sure of the spelling but it's pronounced sha-day). She did a fantastic job trimming my cuticles (I usually get at least one nasty pull that bleeds at all the other places I've tried) and she had a very steady hand. I received a giftcard for a pedicure, so I thought I would check it out. I never knew this place existed! While the name is misleading ("Mommy & Me") you don't have to have kids to go here. (I was a little thrown off, I thought it was for moms... Don't judge me :p) Upon arriving, someone (I forgot their name) asked me to pick a nail polish and brought me right to a chair and sat me down. I was thinking that there may be a lack of quality due to the fact they knew I was paying with a giftcard, but I was wrong! The whole pedicure lasted about 35 min. With a good 15+ min of massaging and scrubbing... And then at the end when they brought me to the "drying area" they gave me a little back massage! This place really couldn't get much better :) Also, if you have kids, they have a small play area in the back and I believe there is someone there to keep an eye on little ones, awesome for Moms who need a break :) read more

My rating mostly based on the quality of my gel manicure and regular pedicure. I''m very happy with the neat and precise application on my short nails. My technician was named, "Jenny." They have about 200 gel colors to pick from and twice as many for regular nail polish. The pedicure massage chairs work and have a variety of massage settings; knead, tap, roll, vibrate. Everything you'd expect from the soaking of your feet, and scrub and emery board filling of your feet for the typical nail salon. I like how when they set out to start your nails they open a packet of tools. They don't have prices of the services on the walls as I've seen at some some places but they do have a paper pamphlet at the counter. While I was there I saw them removing a set of acrylics and adding a new set to two ladies. There's the usual language barrier so we didn't chat much. They had music playing but there are no tvs on the walls. read more

I went to this place a total of 4 times. I made an appointment to let them know that I am coming during work, and due to time restrictions I just needed a fill in and a color change on my toes. The last time I came and mentioned I had to go back to work, they were nice enough to do both at the same time. I understood today that wasn't possible, perfectly fine, I just asked when to come back the same day to do the colors. I was there already an hour in the meantime, not complaining, trying to be nice....she said to come back at 5. I was there on the dot, and by 5:25 pm they finally took me in. I am already nervous as I have to pick up my dog from the camp as they are closing at 6:30 pm in West Hartford. I came at 5, it shouldn't take more than an hour just to color my nails, and here I am, running late, and still being nice about it. The girl who helped barely speaks English and when I pointed to a thread on my toes from their shoes which was on my fresh lacquered nails, she thought I wanted her to match the nails colors which she kept asking me at the same time. I always have the same gel and toe color, but in this place they say they have the same and don't at the end....be careful with that, as you walk out with different colors which happened to me the last time. So since she didn't understand the mess up on my toe I just let it go, and told her to use the same color for my nails. I paid for gel prior to find out after that the colors were no match again. I guess they didn't like that I changed my mind now....but, do you want to walk around with different colors? I was still nice the entire time, no complaining as that is not my style. So instead of staying to let my nails dry all the way I figured to just pay the color and worst scenario fix it at home if I was to mess it up. So here I am asking what the price difference is for the gel and regular as I also still wanted to tip them 20%, still, even I wasn't the happiest. By the time I spoke to the owner, who never once in all these times bothered to smile once, is mostly just passive aggressive and apparently rude at the same time, she actually told me to please not come back. I am sorry, but who was wrong here? I have never ever been treated like that. I don't have time to sit 3 hours in a nail salon, people do work!!! So please, if you want nice people, this is not the place, if you want matching gel and toe nail colors, definitely not the place....and then to be treated rudely because they cannot keep up with their work appointments. I never write reviews, but with the high prices they charge to start, and I am not cheap....I lived in Manhattan for the last 20 years, you should be able to expect a certain treatment. This lady....watch out, you better do everything her way or you are told to not come back!!! One thing to say to be fair, it's the owner who is rude, the staff is nice....just that they don't always understand what you are saying. I understand language barrier and would never judge....but in this case it apparently added to me being treated as I was. To add....now instead of acknowledging that something went wrong....she is referring to what I paid for.....I never argue price...and changed my mind from gel to regular since again they didn't have the right colors, which they didn't show me prior....completely different colors, not matching. She is telling me that I have to come twice a month not once a month.....who does that? My nails are perfectly fine. I get my nails done since 20 years, and this lady gets mad because I don't come in every 2 weeks? I don't have time to....so I get treated bad because I don't come as often as she wants? I also stated that I was fine with them not doing things at the same time.....and here she tells me no one does that...I very much stated that I was very patient and didn't complain about anything....as I said. Loved Mommy and Me! One Sunday my friend and I were looking for a nail place close to us that was open and had decent prices. We decided to try Mommy and Me. We were not disappointed! All we wanted was two pedicures. We walked right in, knowing it was Sunday, and there was no wait time at all. They have a great selection of colors to chose from. In fact, enough that it was hard to choose! We loved how they had a spa treatment incorporated into the pedicure. We both chose between two scents of pedicure packages of exfoliating scrub, a foot soak, and lotion. All of it was used throughout the pedicure. We loved that they took their time and did not rush. The outcome was great, and the five minute shoulder massage while your toes dried was the perfect finish. Definitely worth the $32!! read more

Ugh. I so wanted to like this place based on other reviews. Unfortunately, it's now at the bottom of my list for nail spas in the area. I took my daughter, who is six, here for a pedicure a little over a week ago. I made two appointments for 3:30 PM, and we arrived early. We were seated by 3:20PM. Off to a great start! The woman who handled my daughter was - no joke - done in 10 minutes and moved onto another 3:30 appointment. Which is what time I had made our appointment for, so I am really not sure what they would have done if we didn't arrive more than ten minutes early. My child then had to sit there for another 25 minutes while I was catching up. I went to pay to find out that my pedicure was $32 and hers was $24. TWENTY FOUR DOLLARS for a crappy 10-minutes. I wasn't planning on writing a review, honestly I was just trying to forget the entire experience. And the waste of money - over $60 because we also tipped; that's what I taught her - you thank people for their work. The problem is that now, a week later, neither one of us has a full polish left, and while I realize it doesn't last forever, nail polish shouldn't also peel off in giant pieces after a few days. She has been going to get her toes done with me since she was four, so this is definitely not typical. Feeling horribly ripped off and clearly their polish is old. Very bad experience. The girl was really cold and distant and barely answered my questions. I don't know her name, she looked spanish. When someone is spending 50$, it would not hurt to smile and maybe answer the questions. I should have left right away, when i first came in and asked her about the service. She answered my questions while looking at the computer screen, did not bother to look at me. It was a waste of money and time, I won't go there again. Mommy and Me is the only salon I will go to in the area, because they are the best! Their prices are incredibly reasonable for what you get. For example, a spa pedicure includes a hot stone massage, lengthy foot massage, wax dip on your heels, lotion, exfoliating, etc. It is awesome!! I never feel rushed, although some staff do a more thorough job than others. I would highly recommend Mommy and Me! read more
