I ended up with the Königlicher Käsekuchen (German Cheesecake), paired with an espresso macchiato. They have a wide assortment of cakes all on dazzling display. I chose the classic New York Style Cheesecake with a sour cream topping and a coffee. The slice was cut perfectly, it looked like something you would find in a food magazine yet here it was in front of me. I dug in, carefully carving bit by bit slowly nibbling it. The filing was amazing, not overly sweet and the sour cream topping complimented it with a bit of tartness. This was a delicious cheesecake and was fairly true to the New York style as it had been made with cream cheese instead of quark that is used in German cheesecakes. It taste just as good as it looked! The place gets packed but service was quick as I opted to sit outside. The coffee was also delicious! So, first of all, being there is not relaxing at all. It's way too much light, glass tables, all white - you feel like you are exposed on a stage or you are at your strict teacher's house, where you have to look perfect, sit perfect and behave right. Don't get me wrong - I look good and dress well, but I just don't like this unrelaxed feeling there. The service is also cold and strict. A Compromise of a Review This is a girls place, there's no doubt in my mind of that. I know it's pricey, but I was prepared to pay for top notch cake. They have 20 or so on offer and we opted for the champagne cheesecake and the chocolate cheesecake and a couple of coffees, just shy of €14. Unfortunately it was the wrong choice as they were both mousse based, so pretty much sugary air. My fault maybe? I should have talked to the splendid waitresses to get their opinion. A baked cheesecake would have been more my cup of tea, because in my mind mousse cakes are a con and finished in seconds. The place itself is great. Seating outside and in for about 30 peeps and its beautifully decorated in white. The staff are all charming and the location's top notch in Mitte, just north of Oranienburger Straße. You can buy the cakes outright, order one, take them away or eat a slice inside.The custom is mainly female, probably 60/40 when we were there. The Frau likes it though and doesn't mind the airy egg white cakes, so I'm sure we'll be back. Next time I'll choose a cake of substance :-) read more

Nice decor, really great cheesecake and the white hot chocolate was flavorful too. The only down side is you can't really talk since the sound is really echoing and you sit right next to the neighboring tables. Decor is cute. If you want to take you date here it is highly recommended. read more

Upon entering, the employee cautioned us to the time, and rudely said that they will be closing in 45 minutes and maybe it would be too late for us to eat there. She claimed that the cappuccino machine was down already, and being cleaned for the day, but they we could choose from the few cakes that were still out. You probably are wondering what must I possibly be doing ordering a cheesecake if I detest it so much. Well, my husband likes cheesecake. No. He loves cheesecake. So, I've tried a lot of cheesecake over the years (bites of his) - hoping the next might actually taste somewhat decent, only to be let down time after time (especially with the German cheesecake). When he offered me a bite I first declined, thinking it would be a letdown (and waste of calories). He then insisted, claiming it to be 'heaven'. So, I begrudgingly took a bite and was blown away. I went to princess's because the Resturant i was at prior did not have a satisfying dessert menu. When i first walked in, I was a little bummed as all the seats were taken up inside, and it was raining outside. What amplified this disappointment was the great selection princess's offered. The cashier lady suggested I try her favorite, the lemon tart, and how it was worth the wait. Fortunately five minutes later a seat opened up, and the cashier immediately started to prepare my order with the addition of a cappuccino. What felt like seconds later, both the cheesecake and cappuccino was delivered to my table with a beautiful smile from the cashier, as she walked away she stated " if you don't like it, I'll quit." This made me laugh almost instantly. From the first bite till the last, the lemon tart was well worth the wait. The lemon flavoring wasn't too overpowering, as can be the case, and the texture was spot on. After I finished, I washed everything down with my cappuccino, which was delectable as well. The thickness of the foam was perfectly done. As such, if you love cheesecake and or coffee, this is your place. First of all, amazing selection of cakes. Really charming atmosphere, first impression is 5 stars! Then it comes the disappointment from: 1. Service - extremely slow waiters and waitresses, there is something completely wrong with their service process - only two, three people behind the bar, trying to serve all the people in line who are waiting for a takeaway service. They simply cannot handle serving all the tables and the long queue at the same time. Secondly, tha staff is really haughty, taking tips and not returning exact amount of money as if their service was actually present. 2. No payment with card possible. I am sorry, but the place is really amazing, it was recommended to me by many people, but going there on a weekend at any time in the summer, is just a bit disappointing - waiting for table, waiting for service and no option to pay with a card, I had to walk in the summer heat trying to find an atm and it just sucks if you have a limited time to do that. Place is usually packed and looks promising from the outside. The desserts and cakes look wonderful and are beautifully made. The interior is clearly tailored to the middle-upper class in Berlin, in unison with the surrounding environment near Oranienburger Str. . It's not really my style, but that isn't the reason for the low rating. After we chose the cakes we wanted we had to wait a full 20mins until the coffe + cakes were served. The madame at the service is painstakingly slow. She did put a candle on the cake since it was my friends birthday - still, no excuse for the slow service in my opinion. The cakes cost around 5 Euros a piece, a couple are cheaper, but most are around 5 euro +. Tartes, etc. are around 7-8 Euro. For that price I expect a properly sized piece of cake. The cake itself was really, really small, maybe 3 spoonfull. I thought it was audacious to serve such a small cake. The cake itself tasted good, but you can find cakes like that in a bazillion cafes around Berlin - only cheaper. The reason for the very low rating though is that my friend and me felt quite bloated after having had the Russian Zupfkuchen "Katharinchen". It is not cheap and after having been here a few times I can def say some cakes are all show (no this is not subjective) and were completely bland and unexciting to taste.
