St Stephen's Shopping Centre is the main shopping centre serving the town centre of Hull in the…read moreEast Riding of Yorkshire, the location within the city is good, it's pretty much right next to the train station. The mall opened in 2007 and the interior still feels modern, especially in comparison to the rest of the city. It's pretty much a straight high-street-style walk throughout the mall, with a small number of food and drink outlets upstairs including Starbucks and Nando's. The main flagship store in the mall is a large Tesco supermarket, this remains open between 6 am and 12 am between Monday and Saturday, even when the mall shuts much earlier. Between the hours of 7 pm and 12 am when the mall is closed and Tesco is open, you can expect to be allowed to enter the mall, but only for Tesco with barriers in place. Again, I do find the mall shuts a little early, while the centre remains open until 7 pm, most of the stores end up closing an hour earlier and starting to wind down even before that. With the location of Hull pretty much in the sticks, with few alternatives nearby, this makes it even more frustrating for people who prefer to go out in the afternoons and evenings. The selection of stores within the centre is OK. Brands located here include Boots, EE, JD Sports, Superdrug, TK Maxx and a couple of others. The security at the front seemed friendly, and helped offer directions elsewhere in the centre, although they could have done with being inside the mall, due to groups of children loitering, and littering, which meant the mall was untidy and I was having to watch my step to avoid getting something stuck to my shoe. Again, lots of wasted potential, and the best out of a bad bunch of places to shop while in Hull. 3*

But, there's not really that much there apart from going to a cafe for some tea. There is loads of clothes shops at J32, but there's only a few of them that are on the High Street, and others are shops which you've probably never heard of before. I'm only rating this place 2 stars, but that's maybe because I'm used to seeing the High Street shops.

Located just across the road from the fabulous Xscape, Junction 32 is the more shopping oriented venue out of the two, offering an array of discounted shops, in the form of Christy's, Gap, Gaggie, Whitard's, Nike Factory Outlet, Rockport, LaSenza, Monsoon, Mango and Mexx to name but a few. Once you've walked your feet off following the square layout of the place, there's a Starbucks to indulge in, but as Starbucks' go, this one isn't that brilliant, Thornton's Cafe, Subway, BB's and some others to recoup and gather energy back to the core. But if that doesn't just do it for you, wander over to Xscape as there are plenty of food facilities over there. Massive car park, so if you've climed into your motor vehicle, there's no worry about finding a place to park, and it's free too, nice little bonus. Open until 8 on weekdays, it's been a life saver on occasions where work doesn't permit leaving until 6pm, and everywhere's shut.

Flemingate Shopping centre is a the new shopping street located near the train station in Beverley…read more This review is based on todays experience (2 weeks after opening) and as I visit in future, I will update my review. Firstly, although it is classed and called a shopping centre, it is really a street with shops all long both sides. The street itself is quite pretty and keeps the styling of its surrounding areas. It was very clean but there is a lack of seating areas (not that we'd want to sit down as it was raining!). There are still loads of empty units. To be fair, most of them have been let and are just waiting for the tennants to move in, but at the time of writing the selection was ok, nothing special. The main tennant was Debenhams, which is quite a bit smaller that the Hull City Centre branch, but is much nicer and has that 'new' feel to it. Other retailers that are open include Calendar Club (pop up shop), Card Factory, Poundland, The Entertainer, Tresspas, Wilko, Costa and Patisserie Valerie (located within Debenhams). Units let and still to open include PremierInn, Parkway Cinemas, Greggs, Deli No One, Stagefright, Zizzi, Outfit, H&M, Guest & Philips and local clothes shop - Bolo. As you can see from the list, when everything is up and running, there will be quite a good selection. There is plenty of parking thanks to the multistory car park. There are only a few spaces on levels 0, 1 and 2 but get to level 3 and there is plenty more space. Prices are ok, but not really cheap either (especially when you can use one of the free car parks in the town centre), however, it is only £2 all day on a Sunday. The PremierInn will be using the car park which has a fee of £7.50 per night. From the street you can walking to Beverley Town Centre in about 10 minutes, which has a lot of the high street names missing from this development, such as Boots, WHSmith, M&S etc. On he whole, a nice development which, when all the units are open, will have a nice variety of shops and restaurants

A whole Victorian street in the shopping heart of Leeds enclosed by a wonderfully modern glass covering. OK, so the shops are all designer, the ones everyone loves to look in, sometimes go in to have a look at just how much some people are prepared to pay for t-shirt....but boy the designers have designed a perfect place for designers to come sell their designer bits 'n bobs. little bubbling fountains, coffee and bagel huts for that quick pit stop and belly filler. I sat in here for about an hour, just sipping my cheap filter coffee and commoner's bacon and egg bagel getting a good view of how the other half live. I didn't mind, I was content, in such a place I find it hard to believe anyone could feel otherwise.

In all seriousness, The Victoria Quarter is the opulent home to some of the more high end brands of the Leeds shopping arena, and with it comes certain prestige in being housed here. The little independent stores like the French Revolution and Rose & Co gain a little kudos in being located here, as that is the effect the Victoria Quarter has on a business here. It is really rather easy to get lost in the annals of the walkways, be it through gawping at all the lovely shopping enticements, or be it from the identical high vaulted ceilings and archways criss crossing across one another, identical fountains, and sympathetic shop signage so that it doesn't interfer with the original features and feel of the Victorian decor. Depending on which entrance you take you will find fountains tinkling delicately, or small tables with coffee service, or even a small but assuredly delicious pattisserie. Benches are also dotted around and if you take the time to perch, and knock your head back you'll see the bizarre yet beautiful glass decoration. A worthy attraction all on it's own.
