While staying at an apartment next door to this beautiful shop in…read moreParis, my friend and I became obsessed with their gorgeous daily displays of fresh vegetables, fruit, flowers and plants. You can bet that we took a hundred pictures or so, since this adorable garden-like shop was Instagram-worthy on several levels! Since my friend is a professional photographer, she definitely took some great pictures with her fancy camera, while I happily snapped away with my smartphone. One of my favorite things here was their cold-pressed green juice simply called N°1 (Granny, Persil, Courgette, Kale, Broccoli, and Citron). It was especially refreshing and much needed after all of the cheese, bread, desserts, and wine we had been drinking during our Parisian vacation! Everyone that works here is amazing - so friendly and cheerful! It's just a wonderful, quaint, and lovely little neighborhood shop.

Among the superettes along Boulevard de Beaumarchais, this was our chosen one (and conveniently…read moreclosest to our hotel). This superette has the most attractive arrangement of produce just under the awning. Not only was it nicely arranged, but it also always looked super fresh and ready to eat. Inside is super tiny (about four aisles), but you will find everything from beverages (juice, water, soda) to sandwiches to cookies to carrefour suchard candy (oui oui). Prices are reasonable, and there's a good selection of pantry, produce, and other miscellaneous items that you'd find at a regular market and convenience store. I believe a father/son own this superette, as we saw the son every night (of our 6 nights in Paris), and his father on one of the nights. You can tell they take great pride in their superette. We would always see the son rearranging the produce or organizing the beverages. Every night, we would stop in so Mom could buy her one produce item-banana (for the next morning). He always greeted us very warmly, and with that smile of recognition (like he'd say to himself, "Hey, it's these ladies again.. Nice to see them again type of thing"). He'd ring us up very happily, and say something to us in French (which I believe was complimentary as he was smiling at us and laughing with us). One night, we even surprised him and bought more than just the produce, but water, suchard candy, and gum. Even though he spoke little English, we knew he was appreciative and happy to see us. They have a fabulously…read morevaried selection of fruits and vegetables, are very reasonably priced, have no minimum on cc payments and are open 6 out of 7 days (closed Monday). What that means is that you never have to wonder where your next bouquet of herbs is coming from, what seasonal vegetable you're going to jazz up your dinner with, or even whether you have enough cash on you pick up a couple of avocados. Having them readily available and just a short skip away opens up a word of culinary possibilities so much so that I can actually recreate almost all of the amazing dishes in the fantastic book Jerusalem, (which if you don't own you must pick up for the kaleidoscopic range of inventive, colorful, flavorful salads featured). The only drawback here is that their organic selection is null if nonexistant and they don't source super locally (though most of their produce comes from France, if not the Spain).

We brought back a couple of tiny restaurant sized jars of black cherry, blueberry, blackberry , and honey and then a full sized jar of strawberry. I regret not bringing back full sized jars of black cherry and blackberry which were absolutely superb. All the jams and jellies we brought home were perfectly flavored and not overly sweet.
