Now this is a thrift store ! I can't wait to come back when I have more time ! They have *everything* ! Tons of furniture, clothing, toys, books - I mean everything ! I honestly didn't anticipate the store being so large or well organized. I love all their racks/organization systems. They have higher priced items at the front of the store so I missed them until I was leaving. Definitely will check out next time. There's a whole room for as-is furniture plus another room for select nicer furniture as well. Everything is organized with signs too. Make sure to look on top of the racks for larger/unique items. All their kids toys are sorted into plastic bags which is nice for keeping the place clean. Actually they do the bag system for all kinds of smaller items The prices are very thrifty which is nice - I didn't look at the clothes to be fair but the home goods were very well priced. More things to note: - in the as-is room they have some vending machines - there's a reward program and if you sign up for the first time with your phone number you get a discount on your purchase (if it's over $10) - they have the biggest shopping carts I've ever seen in my life - the parking lot is quite large so there's plenty of parking read more

The prices here are absurd. Do not come here. Everything is used terribly to the point where it has little to no wear left in it. On top of that you could find the same thing brand new for the same price at retail stores, if anything it's cheaper to buy brand new than here. The cashier also wouldn't let me leave unless she went through my purse first assuming I stole something. I didn't mind it but it definitely caught me off guard, so if u don't want them going through ur bag DONT COME HERE. read more

Okay so it is organized. But the selection is horrible. A lot of stuff was just low low quality. Prices were also higher than I felt was fair. $6 for well worn clothes. Items priced $10 when they sell for the same brand new. They had a few interesting pieces I photographed to share but I didn't buy anything. Also will mention there was a strung out drug addict wheeling a overflowing buggy around and trying to yank things off the wall and playing a radio loudly from her buggy. She was tweaking and very scary to be around. Didn't appreciate that the store did nothing. read more

They definitely have a large selection, but lots of things are overpriced for a thrift store, and it usually smells. If you're shopping within an hour of closing, they will rush you or close off certain sections. Last time I went I was waiting in line where there was only one cashier and the lady in front of us had quite a lot of items. About 5 minutes go by and another shopper joins the line behind us. Maybe 30 seconds later, another employee walks up to another register and calls for the customer who was waiting in line behind us?? She finished with her and of course, didn't call for me, so I walked over there and asked if she could check me out, she said "sure." I then asked why she decided to call for the person who was waiting behind me and she said "well I can get you now." I wish I caught her name as she ruined my night with her nasty and unnecessary attitude. read more

This is probably the most organized thrift store I have EVER been to and if you know me, you know that I've been to thousands of thrift stores in many different cities and states. Everything is in plastic bags, divided by category and the rows were clear of debris. It was amazing. They had more than one cashier station open which really helped clear up the heavy foot traffic. We were in and out within minutes and the cashier was very friendly. They had a ton of clothing in good condition, artwork in nice frames, kitchenware, good working appliances (ton of coffee makers, popcorn makers, crock-pots, griddles, etc), tons of toys (puzzles, games, bikes, riding toys, barbies, dolls, porcelain dolls, etc), furniture in really good condition, vases, tons of curtains, comforters, fabric, table runners, place-mats, etc. They also had a lot of golf clubs and golf balls for you enthusiasts. The DVDs, movies, CD's and gaming systems were in the front and they had a decent selection. I will say that although I do love this thrift store, it was pricey. We saw a few couches that were nice but used, for almost 300$. Ouch. We also found some picture frames that were very tiny and from the Dollar Tree originally that were over 4$. No thanks. Everything in here could use a little bit of a price reduction but other than that, I will be back to search for great deals. read more

This is my favorite thrift shop in the Houston area! I always seem to find great clothes at pretty good prices. Sometimes I will see something I like, but realize it is way over priced. In those cases, I put it back because I know I will find other great finds at better prices. The place is very clean and well organized. I never leave empty handed! The only con is that the neighborhood is seedy, so it isnt very good to go after dark. Other than that, 2 thumbs up! read more

I really like this Thrift Shop. They have everything organized wonderfully. I don't know why but this particular time everything seemed pretty picked over. My husband was able to find some really nice books and we bought about 3 other things for less than $15. Everyday they have a certain color tag on sale. We went on a Monday and I know that they have a big sale on Sunday so that maybe the reason why the stock was picked over. read more

I used to love thrifting here, but their prices have gone UP!!! (at least on home stuff) We looked at some pots and pans that were $40 and up. Curtains and bedding were at least $20 per piece. Casserole dishes, and other glass bakeware were marked at $15 and up. There were some bookshelves that were in major disrepair, with chunks of veneer missing that were marked at $89.95!! They were priced higher than most of the antique shops I frequent. They definitely have a huge selection of items, but prices are huge too! Clothing items are better priced, so if you are going for clothing, you're sure to find some things here. read more

We've been going to this place for over ten years now. We love it! This place is a warehouse full of mostly decently priced used clothing and home decor and furniture. Every time we go we leave with a few things. You have to spend some time searching through the racks, but you can find some brand name stuff, and occasionally with the original tags still on. They sort first by mens/womens/kids, then by type (short sleeve, etc.), then by size. There are rows of skirts, dresses, jackets, shirts, jeans. The shoes aren't the hot items; some of them look very used. The purses are hit or miss. Furniture is the same way. But the clothing always proves fruitful. And if the prices weren't cheap enough, they do have half off certain marked colors or letters, every day. Don't expect good customer service here, though. There's never anyone on the floor to help if you need it, but do you really need it at a place where you are just flipping through racks of random stuff? I'm not sure they could be helpful if the employees were trying. Heads up: keep your purse on you at all times. My mother's purse was stolen here when she turned from her basket one day. This has happened once in ten years though, so I don't judge the place as unsafe. Bottom line: it's worth the trip, but expect to root for the good stuff through the muck. read more

I went to Alamo Thrift looking for things to decorate my budget conscious kitchen. I found everything I was hoping for!!! I feel as though the framed art was a little pricy ( we buy that stuff for the frames anyway). I found the perfect canister set at a great price. Something similar was going for $50-$100 on line. I found some other great vintage looking pieces. At the checkout the cashier was very kind, and had a box brought up so that I could carry my fragile objects. She didn't even make me move so she could assist another customer (they were very busy). They made me feel like I was the most important customer all day. I will certainly be back!!! read more

I'm not someone who requires help, especially at a thrift shop, so I can't really speak about customer service because I didn't even pay attention to how many staff were available or if they were helping people. Honestly, when I thrift shop I wear my ipod, so I'm not really someone they would probably approach anyway. However, I can say that they, BY FAR, have the cheapest men's t-shirts I have ever seen. I actually bought a couple shirts for $0.14 each! Seriously? That's insane!! And most of the others were $0.49, $0.99, or somewhere under $2. Definitely a huge selection and very clean and organized. I was visiting from Chicago and found some thrift stores I wanted to visit. this was the last one I visited which was the best. The prices and selections were awesome. they also.had fitting rooms to try in all of your possible purchases. I found a beautiful silk floral tulip dress that was half off and also an excellent used conditioned black double breasted blazer which was also half off. My bill came to a total of 9 bucks. The customer service was superb and everyone was very helpful. This store is worth the trip if you live or are visiting the Houston area. read more

There is usually a special every day and I've never had to look too far for an employee if I had a question. Give selection of kids clothes and decent section of men's tee shirts. Very nice thrift store, with a wide selection of items. Staff was very friendly. Clothing is sorted by size and type of item. Higher end items are hung on the wall, or in a glass case. Items are color coded and there are sales based on the tag color. They have a large selection of housewares, clothing, shoes and belts/purses. After reading all of the rave reviews for Alamo Thrift, my expectations may have been a bit too high. But I was really unimpressed with it overall. Yes, it's almost weirdly well organized. Any item you find, there will be a half dozen (or five dozen) similar items neatly stacked, hung, or piled right next to it in a perfect group. It's remarkable. But the excitement ends when you check out some of the prices. I could not believe the prices on clothing and shoes. I have thrift shopped all over the country so I truly don't believe it's a case of having sticker shock from one area to another. I have never seen cheap big box footwear brands for $19.99 in a thrift store before this. I took a look through the ladies clothing and found very little of interest to me, which is also rare...I couldn't believe out of such a huge stock, everything just seemed to be junk. The best "brands" I saw were Old Navy and Kohls stuff, and instead of prices I'd expect to pay at a thrift store ($3-7) they were all around nine, twelve dollars and up!? I wound up buying a couple of baby items for a friend, and some crazy old Bollywood magazines. Those things were priced well. I understand this store runs a lot of specials and deals, but I didn't have time to investigate further than their daily specials as I was only in town while traveling. If I had it to do over, I'd just avoid Pasadena thrifting entirely. read more

I have been going to this place for at least 6+ years and used to love it. WHAT HAPPENED???? $50 for a used coat? Did they not know you can get a BRAND NEW name brand coat at Burlington for HALF that price! Also, the toy department is a joke. There is a massive selection of a bunch of walmart, knock off Care Bears overpriced toys. Now, why would I want to pay $15 for a Build A Bear when you can't even sell them at a garage sale for 50 cents? It looks like a handful of the good toys had their tags torn off (looks to be apparently by someone who wanted it, because it was just too many that I would have even considered purchasing had their tag torn off). So, I guess their idea is to come back when the tag color changed and staple it back on. TERRIBLE Other than that it was okay, I guess in some of the other areas. I mean where else can I find modern cloth diapers for $.49. Thanks for not knowing what a G-Diaper was, because otherwise they would have charged me $10. Geesh! read more

I thought this was the jack pot in thrift stores. It's huge and very well organized. It's also very clean which I loved. I thought the prices were really good on most items. I read previous reviews before I went. We found the staff to be very helpful and cheerful. We went went it was close to dark and we were not fearful when we were leaving at 9 pm in the dark. They were looking at me like the crazy lady just because I couldn't understand their thinking. I finally found an open tunic kind of shirt, in the costume area, that I needed to make my kid a costume. I've been looking for something like that ALL day and was about to give up. My kid loved it and was wearing while walking in the store. When we got to pay and he handed it to the cashier we were told that they couldn't sell it to me because it was a 2 piece item and they couldn't sell it without the pants. I explained that there were NO pants with it or in that area if not I would've got them too. I explained I was willing to pay the whole $6.95 that was for the 2 pieces but just take that one. I didn't even wanted the 30% that the pink ticket had today. I kist wanted to pay and take the tunic. Managers were not in the store, just supervisor. She said that they can get in trouble if they sell it and later found the pants. WHY??? I was willing to pay for them and not take them home. If you found them you can sell them by themself and make more money out of them, trash them or take them home; it shouldn't matter because I would've payed for them already. But NO they prefer to keep the shirt and most likely get stock with it because you will never find the pants in the mess they have there. read more
