I learned of Primary ENT through a friend who had a positive experience here. I had a consult at Primary ENT this morning and was very pleased with the care I received. The office is a year old and very clean and thoughtfully designed, with a kid area in the waiting room as well as in the exam room. They also had a calming ocean video playing in the exam room. The PA I met with was knowledgeable and a good listener, patiently answering my questions and providing helpful explanations and guidance. I also appreciate that you don't have to wait months and month to be seen for other concerns. I absolutely love that this office allows walk ins and day-off testing for things like strep and sinus infections. Knowing they can fit you into their schedule removes the stress of trying to get care when you're sick! I will 100% be back for both myself and my kids. read more

Avoid Dr. John Boone - deeply disappointing care After many visits where my son's ear fluid continued to worsen, Dr. Boone did not recommend any action beyond waiting. The fluid eventually burst through his eardrum. Only at that point did he recommend ear tubes--despite earlier saying a small incision could also be an option. During visits, I found his manner to be dismissive and condescending, and he even raised his voice at us. Four weeks after surgery, one tube had moved into my son's middle ear and was trapped when the eardrum healed, while the other appeared to be at the wrong angle according to other doctors we consulted. Dr. Boone did not address these concerns, ended the appointment abruptly, and no hearing test was performed. Subsequent evaluations by other specialists indicated that my son's hearing was worsening. I was also surprised when Dr. Boone suggested placing another tube in the same ear without first removing the one that was already trapped. In my view, following the original advice could have risked further damage. We ultimately went to another clinic, where my son received care that helped him. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this practice. read more

My first visit to the facility nestled in a shopping area off of Highway 13. About 15 minutes from Bloomington. Parking is ample and close to the door. A minimalist foyer with Tv monitors with peaceful floating fish and digital fireplace. All very soothing and no sound. They have coffee/ water bar very nice. A play area for children off the main entry. Upon arrival you check in and show insurance if you have not pre-registered on the website. Receptionists take basic info and then hand you a tablet to enter health history. Be sure you know names and dosages of any current meds you are on. CVS and Walgreens app have your prescriptions in there. I have mine in my phone contacts. They will want family history of any diseases; your current health issues if any and why you are there ; you sign a release for care and agree to financial responsibility. A tech will take you into a room to talk to you about your issue; ask questions and listen to your concerns. All this being added into a tablet. It was a long wait. My appt at 10 but saw doctor about 10:45. They take walk-ins so there may have been more pressing matters than mine. Dr Boone saw me and immediately discovered my ear plugged issue. I had been on antibiotic for inner ear fluid for ten days and ear plugged all that time. I had a wax ball blocking my ear canal. Phew! Not sure why my other urgent care did not remove it then. I had been worried and walking around feeling like I had a balloon in my inner ear. Scoop he went and hearing restored. He said my hearing aid stem may have pushed it in. Accept many kinds of insurance and Medicare, Humana, Blue Cross and many more. Call for details when you schedule. I highly recommend them and ENT doctors in larger health facilities booked way out. read more

I am very disappointed in this office due to their unethical business practices, including getting people to undergo more tests which drive up health care costs. My experience: I went in for an ear cleaning at the recommendation of my wife. Reason is we were going on a Caribbean Spring Break trip, and the prior year I had issues with an ear getting clogged. My wife had been to this office earlier in the year, and had mentioned my ear to the office who told her to have me come in...cost would be ~$180. I set up an appointment and had my ear cleaning. Pretty simple, maybe 5 minutes to do. The PA asked me some more questions about anything else with my ears, and I mentioned my wife had mentioned my hearing wasn't the best...so the person recommended a hearing test, and not to worry because "insurance covers it". So I took said hearing test...I have experienced some high frequency hearing loss, not uncommon for my age (I have a background with acoustics testing from my line of work). The OA then told me I had some slight mass in my ear that should get looked at and offered to have a scan done (right then), and that "insurance covers it"....because I needed to get going for my first work meeting, and because I started to get uncomfortable doing another test (I came in just for an ear cleaning), I declined. A few weeks later I get a bill. Total charge was $750...and "adjustments" was about half. Almost half of this charge was for "an office visit", which is separate from the ear cleaning and hearing test. I met no doctor, just went through 2 "procedures". I went in the office to discuss the bill, advocating that I didn't know why I was charged an office fee, and that no, insurance did not cover anything (I was looking for a reduced bill). The person at the desk was very firm that everyone coming in is charged an office fee, and that knowing what insurance does and doesn't cover is the patient's responsibility. The attendant also asked me how I knew the ear cleaning was ~$180 because they don't give that information out....to which I said that is what their office told my wife, verbally. Then it got me thinking...why in the world would a health care office not be transparent and inform their patients of costs. Why would they be so quick to recommend additional testing with the phrase "insurance covers it", without any mention of a deductible. I can only surmise it is due to deceit and an unethical business practice. I told her it was no wonder so many Americans are frustrated by our health care system. After getting no where with the person at the desk, the attendant made a photocopy of my bill and said the business office would look at it and get back to me within the next 1-2 days. The business office only got back to me a week later, via a short email saying my full bill was due. read more

My son needed urgent care for an infection on one of his tonsils that had been going on for weeks and hadn't responded to any treatments prescribed by other doctors. Primary not only booked him an appointment quickly but provided compassionate, effective treatment. We were so thankful that he could see a specialist so quickly and especially one that was so well trained. read more

I never give reviews, but I feel it's important to give this one. If I could give negative stars, I would. Dr. Boone is a horrible doctor. He does not care for his patients, makes them do things they don't want to do, and has no compassion. I went through an incredibly traumatizing experience going here and getting a septal button. He would ask me if I was in pain, and when I told him I was, he didn't care; he just kept going. He didn't apologize for causing any pain and didn't care that I was crying my eyes out while sitting on the chair. My husband came with me the second time because the first time he put it in, it was too big (even though he supposedly measured I) (and it was traumatizing the first time, but the ER said I had to go there to get it removed), and I had such pain I ended up in the ER to get pain meds. The second time I went to get it removed, he wouldn't remove it; he only trimmed it WHILE it was still In my nose (which, by the way, is not how they do it at other places and causes severe pain) and kept giving me lidocaine without asking or telling me what he was doing. He told me that I shouldn't get it removed and discouraged me from my wishes. My husband came with me the second time, and he threatened to kick my husband out when my husband asked me if I was doing okay. He kept telling me he was proud of me and would ask me how I was doing, and if I told him it hurt, he just kept plugging away and didn't stop or tell me what was happening. He told me that if I was going to cough, I should cover my mouth even though I couldn't stop coughing because the stuff he was doing in my nose, for some reason, made me cough. I was not in a position where it would have been easy to cover my cough, and I didn't even know when I was going to cough. I was shaking and crying extremely when I left and immediately went to the ER after because I walked out before my bleeding had stopped. I felt extremely violated and have never had such an awful experience with a provider who is supposed to be there for you and to take care of you in a vulnerable situation. Even my husband, who isn't as emotional as me, felt very pissed off and not okay with this provider's behavior. I would encourage anybody looking at going here to NOT go here. He is incredibly negligent and not a doctor I would ever return to or let anybody I know go to. read more

I started with the Primary ENT/Dr. John Boone's clinic in Savage MN in February of 2024 because I had been suffering from multiple mouth sores under my tongue and on the inside of my cheeks for over two months. Both my dentist and PCP referred me to an ENT to have a biopsy conducted. In my first visit with Primary ENT/Dr. John Boone's clinic, my appt was with an NP/PA (I cannot recall). Even without a biopsy, she indicated that she knew sores are not cancerous but due to stress. Nothing she could do. The sores got worse & developed elsewhere in my mouth. Because I am not in a strong financial position, it took me a little while to gather the money to pay my bill and then to go back for another visit. This time I saw a different NP/PA. She gave me the same opinion, and told me I would need to come back to see the actual doctor. So, I made the third appointment. The appointment was for 2:45 pm on the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend. Unfortunately, Dr. Boone was running very behind and walked in 45 minutes later. He performed a cursory exam of my mouth, told me that unfortunately the mouth sores are very common and like his colleagues, he indicated that there was no need for a biopsy. He went on to tell me that both he and his son suffer from them and they simply have to suffer through them like I would (not sure why that should be brought into the conversation). I told him that I had been suffering for more than six months. He shrugged his shoulders at me. So then he looked a little closer at my mouth and decided that my problem is a function of poor dental care. He believed that one of my teeth was jagged and was rubbing against my mouth. I was unsure how one tooth could cause mouth sores in many different places in my mouth. I asked him. He had no answer. He just went back to telling me that it was my tooth and proceeded to lecture me on correct dental hygiene. I also asked him that if the answer is simply "my teeth" then why did it take three visits to his clinic to provide me with an answer that even my dentist did not identify. Very arrogantly, he told me that HE IS THE SPECIALIST and a dentist would not have the knowledge to "diagnose" the situation. I also asked him to consider medications that I am currently taking...could there be an issue with one of them? He would not even look at the medicines that I had brought along for him to consider. Every time my adult daughter or I asked questions, he became more arrogant in his tone and even put up his hand in a "stop sign" gesture to stop us from speaking. He encouraged me to leave by telling me that since it was a holiday weekend he wanted to let his staff go home so since there was nothing else he could do, he dismissed us. I walked out overwhelmed in tears and feeling embarrassed, deflated, and hopeless. I told him that three visits to his clinic to receive no care was an expensive price to pay for me. He went on to indicate that "yes, healthcare is expensive..but it is necessary...and "lucky" for me his rates are lower than most ENT costs. I broke down in tears...between the constant 24/7 pain of the ulcers, the anxiety over paying my bill, and the utter realization that there was no relief in sight...at least not in near sight, I was overwhelmed with sadness and worry. We walked out and I was sobbing. When we went by the front desk, my daughter had had enough. She asked the receptionist for a grievance form. She said that the office did not have anything like that. Dr. Boone came out with a very aggressive demeanor and told us that his clinic is a private practice and if I had a grievance then we would need to simply talk to him. He again used his hand in a gesture to stop us from talking and told us in a haughty tone that this was a holiday weekend and he wanted to let his staff go home and enjoy the holiday weekend. So, if there was nothing else, we should leave. And as we walked out the door, he yelled that we could always leave a review. I'm not sure that my story conveys the arrogance, disregard of human kindness, and lack of empathy that he displayed. Nor am I sure that my story shows the utter sense of hopelessness that I have had since that visit. I feel like I was emotionally ambushed by a person who should know better. For over 3 weeks, I have been on the verge of tears for any little thing. The constant pain, the fact that it is difficult for me to communicate because my mouth is so painful, and the constant sadness that leaves me feeling very somber and alone is reminiscent of the major depression and anxiety that I have experienced on & off over the past 10 years. And I worry that this experience his triggered yet another episode of depression. My last hope is to return to the dentist and hope he can help me with my teeth. My denstist is sending me to an oral surgeon pathologist. read more
