Rice bowl with beef brisket and burnt ends!!
    Carolyn J.

Best queso and best brisket I've ever had. Primal has nailed it. My husband had the rice bowl with brisket (you can choose from at least four proteins). I had the beef brisket tacos. So good. And we shared the green chile queso and chips. I would come back just for that. Homemade right here. Delectable for what is usually an ordinary sauce. Don't live in the area or I'd be a regular.

Brisket. Aka pot roast. Not smoked at ALL.
    Heidi S.

This was a huge disappointment. The "brisket" tasted and looked like pot roast and not even good pot roast at that. It had zero taste of smoke. And I mean ZERO. We both tasted it first because it's our favorite when we hit bbq joints. Really not worth the drive. I choked eating it, was so dry and over cooked. The slaw lacked seasoning (basic salt and pepper even?), wasn't balanced in flavor. Not even much vinegar. No sweetness at all (which can be fine with the right slaw!!) this just wasn't appealing. I've eaten cabbage with plain mayo, & salt/pepper that had more flavor. How do you mess up slaw at a bbq joint?? It was fresh though. Everything was. The pickles were great! Homemade and crisp. The beans were delicious as was the sausage but again I didn't sense it had been smoked on site. It just tasted like stuff I pick up at the grocery store. Hit of smoke flavor? Not *smoked*. Even 10min on the smoker would have given it more flavor than this had. The flavor of it was good though. I would have preferred more of this over the brisket. I've tried many local bbq places, don't waste your time here. We noticed nearly everyone was getting salads. Cool. But probably a bad omen at a bbq joint. I guess this might have been why?? The locals already know?

a variety of foods on a tray

I've been here twice so far, and honestly was all I could talk about after the first time. Order at the corner, they will bring the food to you and clean up the tables after. I've done the food for you which includes two meats, two sides, and two sauces. The brisket is so tender with the right amount of fat left on. The pulled pork is also very good, and the sausage is worth a try. The baked beans are really something special. Not a lot of sauce and mixed with onion. I could just do a double helping of the beans! I've also tried the elote (Mexican street corn) and potato salad. Both are good but liked the elote better. I am undecided between the tangy and smoky sauces. There is also a hot smoky sauce that has a little heat but not very much. Great service, excellent food, and check out the plant store upstairs and the market next door!

Can't believe I only tried it here now after being in Camano for awhile now. Taste really good, service was fast, nice staff, and I love the ambience next to everything like library and Camano Commons for an afternoon coffee and gift shopping after lunch. Highly recommended! Will try more from their menus for "shore"! Photo taken was a takeout as I have to go somewhere else.

OMG so so good! They must be brand new as the signage board of the commons still shows the old pizza place that was the before, just follow that sign and you'll arrive here. The restaurant is cute and modern with plenty of seating inside and nice small covered patio. Staff was super friendly and they got a good choice of combos for your BBQ craving. We got the ribs and pulled pork, very delish. We also loved that their side of slaw and potato salad had great seasoning. They got a big fridge of beers, soda, juices, plenty to choose from, we'll definitely be back.

They have 2 tables for 4 and one table for 2, and both were taken. So we sat at the empty long community table in the middle. Seating is NOT plentiful, and I see why they take reservations later in the day. We'd checked out the menu online before coming, and knew we'd try the street tacos, with all the flavors, except the zucchini (!) and the Pastor, which is spicy pork. Now, pay attention when I say I'd looked at THEIR website before coming. The cashier announced the side bean soup was "a dollar extra". Apparently "complementary" means something else to them? They just looked blank when we said "thought that comes with it". A buck is fine, but CHANGE the ONLINE menu. Ok. Now you go and pick up your napkins, plastic spoons/forks, and water in the corner. (There's also the trash bins, so you can bus your own table after) If you ordered a soda, they are in a case in the back corner. They brought out the soup immediately. Oddly, it was in a little Styrofoam bowl, but only 1/3 full. (No problem, because it was so spicy I think it had jalapenos grated in to it.) Might want to change the size of the bowls, because it looked chintzy. The tacos arrived piping hot. The size is about the palm of your hand- "street taco" size. They say they are flour tacos, but they are thick and chewy. All are dressed only with cilantro and onion. 1. The rock fish was badly unseasoned. One little lime comes with the 5 tacos, and it was dry, at that. I couldn't use the table sauces, as the green was atomic, and the red was oddly umami, sort of savory, but not in a good way, and also way too hot for PNW palates! (Please note another reviewer mentioned she IS Mexican, and it was too hot for her!) 2. The chicken was more flavorful, but again, without any sauce, and dressed with cilantro and onion only. 3. Carne Asada- sirloin steak chopped? Well, it was full of connective tissue bits. Like, stick in your teeth forever. Dry. 4.Carnitas is the pork. This was good, because it had a little sauce of its own. 5. Best of the bunch was the Deshebrada- slow cooked beef, with quite a bit of tasty sauce. I'm sure ordering the $8 guacamole side dish would have picked up all the tacos and I'd recommend that if you want some kind of flavoring. I realize we only had the tacos, so I can't speak to the torta, sincronizada, or parrillada (I don't even know what that is)...and supposedly they have desserts, but I didn't see any. There is also a drink menu on the tables, with cocktails, which you don't see on their website. Final result was a 3. Some good flavors, most too spicy and dry. Not a fan of community seating, but no other choice given the tiny space. Tourists will probably keep this afloat.

I came for the food -- in my case a Reuben sandwich stuffed to the gills -- and coleslaw, though obviously most people choose fries in one of the available variants. Both the sauce on the sandwich and the slaw had a kick to them - a hint of heat that added to the whole. The food was promised for 15-minutes, but took less than 10 -- I like it when promises are kept or even exceeded. The pub had three distinct seating areas: outside in the courtyard, outside under a deck (sheltered, with transparent vinyl sheeting to block the wind, and inside. This is a place where you order and pay at the bar, then find yourself a seat. It's not fancy, it's not upscale, but it's solid with good food and brews. The service was friendly and competent, but young and a touch overly enthusiastic (I'm not fond of being repeatedly called "my man" - not so much because it's excessively familiar - which it is, but because the enthusiastic repetition of the phrase at every chance is a bit forced and formulaic).

Counter ordering as you come in, quick, helpful and patient while I tried to keep my dog behaved and figure out what to eat. I landed on the prime rib dip - the absolute BEST I've ever had. The pretzel bun texture alone is to die for, slightly crisp outside with a light and soft inside. The au jus loaded with onions (love!), and choice of fries, tots, or side salad. They have so many unique options on tap, but for us non-tap drinkers they have decent options for white abd red wine and champs. Bundled outside, I had the most attentive service as a party of one plus my furry compadre. So kind, personable, genuine connection between 4 different staff members! Aside from the ridiculous prime rib dip I'll be dreaming of, the kindness of the staff is unmatched.
