I would leave 0 Stars if possible. This was by far the worst service I have ever received from any…read morebusiness ever. It all started in January 2022 when I started my 2021 self employment tax return with Richardson Accounting. I had just started working for myself and had never filed self employment taxes before, so I had no idea what I was doing. After dropping off all of the paperwork they asked for, I waited weeks and never heard anything. I emailed to ask if they needed anything else from me and, I was told they needed proof of my husband's income. My husband is a disabled veteran, therefore his income is not reported and not taxed. They knew this, and yet they still asked me for his income. I told them multiple times that he did not have "income" to be reported. Weeks went by, and I never heard any response. Even though we started filing early in the year, we still ended up needing to file an extension. When I was finally able to pick up my '21 return, I expressed my concern for the horrible service I felt I had received. Ms. Sue looked over the emails I had been sending and agreed with me that the service I received was not standard for her practice, and she offered to refund my fee for that year as well as complete my next year's return for no charge. I agreed to try her business again to give them another opportunity to provide a service that was better than what I received. Not long after we filed, we got a letter in the mail that stated a adjustment had been made and we owed more money. We sent in the payment and were still getting notices of a payment being due. I told Ms. Sue about this letter and she told me to bring it in and she would work on it. She was able to figure out where the payment went wrong and was able to resolve the issue for me. This is the only positive thing I have to say. This year we scheduled an appointment early in the year, and Ms. Sue personally handled my return. She had all the paperwork from me that she needed by February 1, yet by the middle of March I had heard nothing about it. I emailed to see if there was any update, and once again I got no response. I sent 3-4 emails over the course of a month with no response. Finally I sent an email begging someone to respond to me. "I have never had an organization ignore me like this. Please respond as soon as possible" my email said. To which Ms. Sue replied " Sorry you are disappointed, but maybe it is because you do not understand how much work there is in a tax return...I am currently researching options to find more deductions. I do not let any return be released until I am sure there is nothing more I can do. I can only state that I know of no other organization that would deal with your returns the way I have. But, if you do not agree and want to take it elsewhere, that is certainly an option open to you. I would like to ask if you have heard from the State of MS regarding your payment that was entered in error. Did you notice that the response to that letter was out fast because I was concerned MS would levy your bank account, and although the error was not made by me, I cared enough to fix it. So, all this being said, I can quit on the return today or proceed for a few days to resolve it all." So because I stated I do not like being ignored, Ms. Sue threatened to quit working on my return!! I really did not appreciate the "you do not understand how much work there is in a tax return" comment. Obviously I don't know how much work is involved, that's why I am paying someone to do it for me!! There is also nothing stopping them from responding to my email and saying that they are still working on my return. Any update is better than silence. Then she went on to have the audacity to boast about sending a letter to the State about my payment that was entered in error. Who else would help me with that if not my tax preparer?! Yet she made it seem like she did me such a favor!! The payment was like $150, so the chances of the gvt levying my bank account was not high. Also her comment "..no other organization that would deal with your returns the way I have". What's that supposed to mean? No one else would takes weeks/ months to finish my return, while ignoring me in the process? She barely provided me with basic services, nothing special at all! I think any other organization could handle that. After starting my return on February 1, today is April 17 and my return is finally complete. When I go in to pick it up, and they attempt to charge me $285!!! For garbage service and to have the owner to scold me. I reminded them that Ms. Sue was the only who offered to waive my fee due to the horrible service I had received the previous year. Fortunately, they still had the email showing where this was offered to me, and I was not charged. Two years of this horrible service shows me that this is how this organization operates. I am glad to finally be done with them. Even for free, I would never use them again!

Keep in mind I have 7 children and a wife living in the house so it was worth every penny. My takeaway: spend the money and don't complain because no one wants to do this type of work and when someone does it right don't be a cheapskate about it. Since I was confused and the rep was on the phone, we went ahead and "rescheduled" for 930 Tuesday--I walk in the door at 9:22 Tuesday and am told I'm late, our appointment was for 915--this while a customer is already standing at the counter being helped! To me, that speaks volumes: rather than welcome customers (the sign on the door says "walk-ins welcome"), H&R Block actually chastises them both on the phone and in person. They are so comfortable doing so that I question whether it's worth their price to put up with it. Since they send no confirmation email or text message once the appointment is made, nor leave a voicemail reminder, there is no way to dispute what they are telling you--better to shut up, take your medicine, apologize like you're supposed to and let them do their job even though you can't be bothered to show up on time for appointments you never made. yeah, no - and they've been doing my taxes since the 1990s! I went to another national outfit, they were very kind even though I was still a bit gruff, plus they gave me a very nice discount for leaving H&R Block, so I'm happy. You can be too. Bad behavior shouldn't be rewarded with actual dollars.
