I'll start out by saying the prices and service for a blow out and style were very transparent. And the quality and time spent were well worth it 620 pesos. However I decided to add on a manicure and felt pretty ripped off. On the price sheet it stated that it was 546, then at the register they charged an additional 98 to remove the gel polish, 546 for new polish, and added a manicure for 285. Fortunately I ran out of time and skipped the pedicure. I even went back after doing the math on my head thinking she over charged me for the pedicure I had to skip, but the cashier was kind enough to show me the break down. All in all- I was charged $2142 MXN plus tip on top, and left with bloody cuticles and an icky feeling. Won't be coming back :/ read more

This spa is so cute and really affordable compared to prices in the US. Located in the basement of this beautiful building with a courtyard, you might not notice it if you didn't see the chalkboard sign outside. I arrived and was able to communicate what I wanted despite my limited Spanish. The staff had limited English but were so friendly and patient with me when I had questions. They offered me a complimentary beer, and when I told them I'm allergic, they came back with a giant jar of gin and tonic for no extra charge. I got an acrylic mani with shellac, and a pedicure which came to about $35 (US dollars). I'm also going back tomorrow for an hour long massage that came to about $40 (US). They do not have a massage therapist always there, so it's important to make an appointment in advance if you want this service. Overall I had a lovely afternoon at the spa. I am so used to NYC mani/pedis where they race to finish and send you out the door. The woman who did my nails spent about 3 hours taking care of me, granted everything moves slower and more leisurely in Mexico. The owner was around when I stopped by and was so helpful in translating some things for me, and even hooked me up with a reservation tonight at a really exclusive bar. My partner and I stopped by as a walk in for a mani/pedi and nail trim for him, but were told that they would only have room for my mani/pedi. I had dip powder nails that they removed and had a gel coat put on (plus a regular pedi). The staff was very kind and helpful and there was someone who spoke English both times we went in to help sort out any confusion. The lady who did my nail set was amazing! I couldn't rate her higher (although I didn't catch her name, but she had super long black nails and blonde hair). Her attention to detail was impeccable and she was very quick given the amount of work she did. They were also able to take my partner in for a beard trim where they used the black wax and steam towels for his very thick hair. Compared to places back home (Texas) it was INCREDIBLY affordable for the both of us. Word to the wise though, in the US we use dip powder as an acrylic alternative, whereas I believe in Mexico it's still considered acrylic. The lady who did my nails knew exactly what dip powder was, but there was some confusion at the desk as to whether or not I had acrylic or something else and so my nail lady had to work a little bit after closing time and I felt bad. She was incredibly kind and did an amazing job regardless! As someone who gets my nails done pretty regularly, my boyfriend and I were very pleased with how my nails turned out. I was bit skeptical about making the appt, because of the name, despite the great reviews on Yelp. Nevertheless, I took a chance and was so glad I did. The staff is super warm and friendly from the moment you walk in. Also I met the owner and she explained that the name was more about empowering women, which I loved! Though she did a great job with my hair. They charged me an outrageous price for my just below shoulder length hair because I was American. I even had a yelp 10% off the cheapest service that the receptionist did not want to except until she called her boss on the phone who told her to except it. The hair colorist was new and I believe the price was made up by the guy who was there. Obviously it wasn't the boss bc the three of them called the boss to see if they would except that yelp coupon. She had written down on a ripped piece of paper $4300 pesos ($226 US) for my hair color. This is just way too much for Mexico! I asked them to break down the price and tell me why they were charging me this much and they couldn't !!!!!!!! On there vague service list it showed 1500 pesos for color even if they doubled that ! They still would be at 3000 pesos!? Why they couldn't they explain how much they were charging me ? What kind of business is this? They just made up numbers and charged me whatever. I kept telling them it wasn't right ! She blended my dark roots and made my base brown then threw in some random painted highlights. Which she probably didn't even need to do bc my hair was highlighted to begin w and my lighter color would eventually pull through. So, she said my hair was dry and I needed a conditioning treatment. When I went to use the coupon they took it off the stupid conditioning treatment which all of a sudden they gave me 200 pesos off. I just looked like someone they could take advantage of and I didn't appreciate it at all. It was horrible business! The guy in charge spoke some English but he wouldn't explain how they came up w that number. After I left I asked a Mexican friend who lived there and she even told me they charged me double!!!!!! I was so mad it was my last full day there and I didn't have time to argue. Let Karma deal with them. This is not the first time I was ripped off in Mexico. If you go here and you speak Spanish then I'm sure you will receive better treatment. This is nothing to do with the hair dresser because she said she was working at that salon only a few months. Obviously she went in the back told the guy and he told her the price to tell me. I will not be back !!!!! I was in town for a couple of weeks and desperate for a powder dip manicure. Apparently Mexico doesn't do that yet, so I decided to settle for a shellac mani pedi here. I came in with the powder on my fingernails and that needed to be soaked off first. They started in on my pedicure and I immediately requested a bowl of acetone to soak my fingers, because this can take 20+ minutes for the powder to dissolve. That wasn't a problem until one woman came over a few minutes in and started picking at my nails. I tried to explain in broken Spanish, using my translator app, and through the kind receptionist (whose English skills were far better than my Spanish) that they really just needed time and it would be ok. The woman wasn't having it and started trying to clip and file my nails. I kept pulling back (she was legit hurting me) and trying to sweetly explain that they needed time, that it was a thing not in Mexico, and that I would happily pay whatever fee to let my nails soak in the acetone. She started screaming that it was inefficient, there was no way I could just sit there, and that the acetone was going to damage my skin. I've been getting powder manicures for over two years and know how to take the polish off, but there was nothing I could do to get the woman to leave me alone and I was getting extremely uncomfortable. The comments that I could translate were not complimentary. Eventually, after pain and several layers of my own nail lost to the drill, the woman took another customer and proceeded to talk about me to the customer for the remainder of my time there. She even had the gall to ask repeatedly if I knew how much the mani pedi was going to cost and insinuated that I was not going to be able to pay. Truly unfortunate experience. HOWEVER! The woman who actually performed my mani pedi was wonderful, hence the three stars. I would give her even more stars if it were just for her! She was also clearly uncomfortable with the other lady (who seemed to be a manager or something) and she worked quickly and diligently with me. I was thrilled with the results and it was one of the best pedicures I've had in a while! I was sure to tip her well when I paid the ENTIRE BILL ALL BY MYSELF! read more

Super cool trendy salon in Roma. This place happen to be down the street from our hotel Nima Local House. I got a gel mani and spa pedi and my husband got a haircut. Definitely worth coming here if you want a clean salon, with a hip trendy vibe and modern upbeat music. They even bring you a drink or choice while having services done. This place could not get any better. Came here to grab a mani-pedi with some girlfriends for a birthday celebration and WOW, it was difficult to leave!! Amazing service, fantastic skilled artists, and the atmosphere was totally superb. It felt like a sweet getaway from the loudness of Mexico City, an oasis of sorts. I can't say enough good things about Alfredo and the crew at PBS. I popped in for a consult over the weekend without an appointment and they happily accommodated me. Alfredo showed me color swatches and he understood immediately what I wanted. I just left the salon with the exact champagne blonde balayage hair I haven't been able to get anywhere-Austin, Scottsdale, LA or NY. I live here so finding a hairdresser and a salon that can do everything-Color, Keune Bond Repair (like Olaplex) and Hair Botox is essential. Alfredo is amazing and very detail oriented and made sure it was exactly what I wanted. Not only did I get a color cut and bond treatment, I had a gel manicure with Carolina which was excellent. All I can say is that this salon gets 5 stars for quality of work, the welcoming environment and the great prices.
