I was not the only poc student that experienced this, and unfortunately I probably wasn't the last. I experienced several acts of racism, in front of faculty and behind closed doors, and each case practically fell on deaf ears. The administration will make it seem as though the situation has been handled but that's the farthest from the truth. The same perpetrators will still be rewarded in the end, if they are favored by faculty. The faculty also has a hand in the racism as well, whether they openly support it, reward the aggressors in the end, or commit their own acts of micro or macro aggressions. I say all this to say, save your time, and save your money. The education is also subpar at best. Even if you are not a poc student, if you don't feel like wasting your money, don't send your child here. The most they'll learn is the lyrics to sweet Caroline . When my child was interviewed for kindergarten, we were told that she is well prepared and will be ahead of her peers with the education and preparation she has received here. My son began his journey with services like OT; PT and SEIT at Ivy prep. They were able to accommodate his service providers within their building and my child was able to receive all of the support he needed. In the Throggs Neck community it is wonderful to have a place like Ivy Prep to prepare your children for a bright and productive future! Highly recommend!!

They had several teachers that were great throughout but a few of the new teachers were nothing but subpar. My daughter became ill one day and her teacher ignored her raised hand for 10 minutes before allowing her to go to the nurse... alone! The school is on the 4th floor... what if she fell. She mentioned she was not feeling well to the guidance counselor as well, who also sent her downstairs. They tried to call me but I missed the initial call. The nurse eventually told her she could either sit in the main office or return to class. Return to class?! The school is on the 4th floor! What happens if she falls?! She ended up having a virus and out for several days. I tried to call to complain and the parent coordinator lied about the principal leaving town. My husband ended up walking in without an appointment to find him there and made them talk to him. I also filed a 311 complaint. The algebra teacher was inexperienced and failed thesem of teaching. They talk to you like you are stupid but guess what...I have a Master's degree. Please don't. I tried to talk to the principal but again the parent coordinator managed to block us and other parents from meeting with him. Even the students created a petition to remove the teacher. My daughter passed her regents but only because I had to pay for private tutoring. I do not recommend this school.

The keynote speaker spoke of his ex wives and "baby mamas ", this annoyed me as my wife and I believe in the core of marriage and family. This set a horrible example to our children. Parents if you have a choice, choose a better school. We want better for our children, lead by example. #DoBetter
