I wanted 110 power and would run the power for the automated gate. It was a single gate with a man gate on the side. They had one on video on their website. They are very fairly close to my residence within 45 min. Josh quoted a price for $18,000 to $22,000 installed. No fancy end posts which you might expect at that price. I said I thought this was way too high of a price. He said removing the man gate would only reduce the price $1,000. Really? I asked if he had cheaper and more reasonable options at a lower price range? He got upset at this and said the prices were all in the same range and I could check other dealers! He said they were a family run business and needed to make money. Well not from my account! He hung up on a customer and lost a sale!

I have just had a horrible experience with Cascade countertops. I attended the store, picked out my…read morequartz and paid my deposit. My full kitchen plan was provided to Cascade along with the details that I was in a second floor condo. All went well until not long before the install is scheduled to occur they send me a final plan to sign that shows my island quartz being cut in half. They assumed there was a freight elevator in a 4 storey residential condo and never bothered to ask. There is not!! So they just decide the right thing to do is cut it in half. They refuse to bring it up the stairs and tell me it weighs 900 lbs which is an exaggeration because they don't want to bring it up the stairs. I offer to pay for a crane or something to lift it to my balcony and they tell me they cannot help me with arranging this. They make no efforts and offer no suggestions as to where I might be able to seek help with this as I am trying to problem solve. When I arrange this on my own they communicate with the contractor that I have hired, paid and arranged for on my own and give him so much cause for concern he understandably backs out. I decide to change my order to an even lighter weight so that they can bring it up the stairs or maybe hire a professional moving company to assist. Two days before install is scheduled and all the trades are lined up behind them they back out. This company should have attended the site from the beginning or asked key important questions about the location and access to my condo from the beginning. If they couldn't accommodate the job they should have let me know this so that I could hire another company. The manager promised to call me back and instead he made one of his office staff deliver this news to me.

The value is not even in question, the price was very competitive as well.

When I first met with Joe, he was very personable and gave good advice/suggestions! Sometimes, we think we know what we want, but when it gets close to getting done...not so much! Do It All Contracting had reasonable rates/pricing; e.g. another contractor was going to charge $20.00 more per hour for the electrical work. The folks working on his behalf made numerous mistakes, causing the project to go over time (by multiple weeks) and over budget, to the point we terminated working with them and had to finish the project ourselves (which was more time and more money for us). If Joe had been on site, it may have gone differently, but in the end, it was a very upsetting experience. Looking online, I see only the positive, raving reviews, but the company has been in business for so long that I wonder where the other reviews are...? If your project is unusual at all, shop around.

They started tearing off on a Friday but stopped. This wouldn't have been a bad thing but that was one the numerous freak winter weekends we were having, and the ridge caps had been removed and replaced with a flimsy piece of aluminum that blew off by the next day exposing the roof underlay to the weather. Looking at their work the ridge caps were all uneven and look like a sloppy mess and most of the flashing wasn't done right including bent eaves troughing not properly adhered to the house. Following their work and attempt at a cleanup they left a lot of shingle residue and nails and were asked to go over it again with the roller magnet. We were out for a couple of days finding roofing material all around our house and neighbors. There has been no follow up or inspection as of 6 weeks from completion and we were assured that a thorough inspection would be done to ensure the quality of the workmanship. We were also promised eaves trough cleaning upon completion and found that it was not done with multiple nails and tar build up.

It was a pleasure to have Alan and his team at our home, and we couldn't be more pleased with the end result. Alan quickly responded to our inquiry via TrustedPros and provided us a very reasonable written quote for our project ... which never changed even though our deck concept evolved significantly. Alan also made time in his ultra-busy schedule to accommodate our summer-sensitive deck project. It is refreshing to see a small company with a huge work ethic and a 'whatever it takes' attitude. For example, our deck stairs were substantially altered to better suit our needs and one of Alan's super-courteous staff members, Matt, single-handedly removed about 200 lbs of concrete slag under an old fence post. Alan Cogan is an honest man and a very talented carpenter whose sole focus is building the dreams of his clients. He is also a very respectful listener and super-engaged project communicator who faithfully delivered every promise to us. Our family is delighted to offer an unconditionally positive reference to Cogan Contractors for any type of carpentry project, big or small.

We now feel unsafe in our house. #1 - We had left specified drawings indicating our specifications on the job site as well as via email. At the end of day 1 of the project, we noticed that our drawings were not adhered to. Alan (director and owner) decided to do job differently because he thought it was better. At no time was this communicated to us. But, as the job was 1/2 done, we decided to let it go. #2 - We asked at the onset if he accepted credit card for payment - he said he did. That was our determining factor on hiring this company as we had another company quote but they did not accept cc. After the job was almost complete, I heard from a previous client that the company does not accept credit cards. As surprised as we were to hear that, we then asked him if this was the case? Alan said he doesn't take credit cards. We were shocked as this was why we chose this contractor to complete this job. #3 - After stating there was no other way we could pay. He said there would be a 3% surcharge to use credit card. Again we were shocked as this was not mentioned at any time previous. As well, that 3% surcharge to use credit card is prohibited by MC and VISA. We mentioned this to Alan and he states we should pay for this service. We do not agree as it is prohibited. #4 - Alan asked us to call him which we did because we had to clear this up and he started to yell at my husband and proceed to call husband names (very strong explicit names which I will not detail here). Alan quit the job (with the deck not 100% complete and the fence posts not touched) and finished the 'conversation' by yelling that he was going to sue us and lien our house. At that point, we no longer felt safe with that company on our property. #5 - We then asked for an invoice to be sent for work done so we could be done with this matter. After numerous harassing emails from Alan he finally sent an invoice for entire project. We will not pay for entire project as entire project was not completed. We asked him to send a revised invoice for work done so that we can pay. He has refused. **Update - Sadly as issues still unresolved, we decided to pay the full invoice for work not done in order to alleviate the amount of stress this situation has placed on us. After this horrible experience, we will never go with a small time contractor/company again. After receiving multiple harassing emails from owner, this has left us feeling unsafe in our own house, vulnerable and appalled that a professional would treat his customers like this.

I can only imagine they must have been sleep deprived after days of clearing snow right now. Still no excuse to drive aggressively in a company truck (or be on the roads at all).
