PRESIDIO Native Plant Nursery rocks!! I thought I wrote this review before but I will write it again. PNPN merits such. The Presidio is a wonderful place for adventures, hikes, and bike rides, and the Nursery will allow you to see how it becomes such a place. The tiniest plants that start as mere seedlings blossom into wonderful flora that hide secret paths and cushion your step. Wow. Even better, you get to help the plants thrive!!! Hands-on. Fun for gardeners and green thumbs. Lovely people work at the Nursery, many from around the world. In the four years I have been volunteering here, I have met people from Nepal, Wales, and Japan, not to mention the entire U.S. I even met someone who knew ARNOLD! The volunteer programs are very welcoming. No pretentions or airs here, only pots and pruners! A delicious and tantalizing snack is served midway through the volunteer program. Tea, ginger snaps, or ice cream bars anyone? Yes, tis true. Equipped with a Japanese water boiler, PNPN can make anything from hot chocolate to peach tea. Additionally, PNPN has a litany of snacks waiting to sate your palate. However, I must warn you about the PRESIDIO POPCORN. It is spicy, earthy.. and ethereal. I realize I have gone on too much about snack. Presidio volunteering includes activities like weeding in the Demo Garden, pot washing, pruning, transplanting, compost tea, bucket run, and occasionally, seed collecting in the field. If you come, I would say do pruning or transplanting. Those are my favorite activities. And spraying compost tea, but that is a rarity. Maybe I should say do Demo Garden instead. hoho.
