President Thai's lunch specials are superior. I'd like to think they are one step above your typical Thai restaurant with their ambiance, service, and food. If you dine in for lunch, you get a complimentary bowl of chicken tom yum soup! They even have crushed ice for water which is always a plus. I specifically enjoy their three-flavor fish plate and my partner always gets the bbq beef plate. They both come with rice, veggies, and two ragoons. The green sauce that comes with the beef plate is so so good. You have to try it. I LOVE that they have their lunch specials even on the weekends. If you order from their lunch specials for take out, it comes with a complimentary side salad instead of soup. I don't often dine here for dinner but I do really enjoy their pad woon seen on their ale carte menu! Parking can be a bit challenging when they are busy during weekends but they have street parking on Rosemead Blvd too. They also have a semi-outdoor patio they sometimes offer seating in if the indoor seating is full but it is not dog friendly and only service animals are welcome in their outdoor patio. My first visit at the restaurant while the birthday honoree's recommended the place and it was a great suggestion indeed. Ample parking around the area. We were craving Thai food tonight so we ordered from one of our favorite places, President Thai. We wanted to try a few new things besides our usual order of Lard Na, Seafood papaya salad, and crab fried rice; which are always great! Today we ordered the Spicy Soft Shell Crab and Stuffed Chicken Wings. The crab was good, but I think it's definitely an item that you have to eat at the restaurant and not get it to go because it became soggy when we got home. My BF wanted to stop chicken wings... He thought they were decent, but I didn't like them. The feelings just didn't go with the flavor, but it was definitely better with the dipping sauce. I would say this is 4 stars, the one star missing is I think for this price they should put more Crab meat or other ingredients. Because besides the top having a little crab meat, it's only onions in the fried rice. Chicken Wet Sauce noodles (Lard Na)~This is my first time having this. I personally didn't like it too much. It was my friend's choice. It's with large flat noodles but they were always stuck together. So I didn't think the dish was prepared too well. Thai style Ground Pork with Fried egg~I was craving this dish, it was pretty good over all. We asked for no spicy. I was surprised they didn't give us rice. It was definitely a bit too salty to eat without rice. We didn't bother to pay extra for white rice. Garlic shrimp~Also first time trying this dish! The shrimps were large and fresh! The menu is extensive and I always try to make an effort of trying a new dish each time I've gone. My favorite appetizer is the calamari. It's nice and crispy with a sweet sauce to accompany the dish. My favorite entree is the crab fried rice which has so much flavor and the crab just melts in your mouth. Every time our family visits, the owner is so friendly and so great with our son. He not just acts kind, but makes us feel so welcome. Another reason we keep coming back. Service was amazing. Staff very friendly. We went on a Thursday night. There were 4 of us. We order a lot of different plates more to sample than anything else. The portions were huge!! Had I had know they were so large we would not had order 9 different plates. Oh my gosh the coconut soup was the best I have had anywhere. The shrimp cakes delicious. The spicy beef salad was good though I have had better. Several of the items I did not eat only because I was full after the soup and shrimp cakes. I did sample the combo fried rice and noodles one of us ordered. All delicious. Did I say the place was crowded - well it was lots of people and everyone looking as though they were enjoying their food. The building was old but it is expected in many parts of greater LA. One of my favorite spots. The best things to get here are probably going to be their Thai BBQ Beef, the chicken satay, and cashew nut chicken with white meat. I ordered the duck soup with glass noodles I was not given the glass noodles also they did not give us any cutlerys to eat the food and the staff was rather rude when I called to let them know what my concerns were they just totally hung up in my face and said that they would let the manager know I'm really trying to figure out what does that mean to resolve my issue very disappointed very disappointed. I also ordered the vegetable tofu soup it was just a bunch of tofu with a minimum amount of vegetables. One of my favorite Thai places! It is located on a fairly busy street. Parking can be difficult since the lot isn't that big. Service is very welcoming and attentive It can be pretty loud in there so it might be hard to talk with one another. Food is delicious and the portions are huge! They even have lunch special everyday except the holidays. Dishes are $16-18 during lunch special and there are so many to choose from! It even includes rice, fried wonton, and a salad! An absolute must is the crab meat fried rice. Huge portions and delicious crab all throughout the rice. It was flavorful and made very well. We ordered four dishes: Pad See Ew with beef, Panang Curry with chicken, President BBQ beef, and a Mango Sticky Rice. The waitress brought over the four chili condiments, and my favorite was the one that resembled a watery sambal. All the dishes were really solid! My one minor critique is that the pad see ew was a little sweet for my taste, but adding the sambal helped. The mango sticky was so good! Mango was perfectly ripe and not stringy. The BBQ beef came with a cilantro sauce, and normally I hate cilantro, but the other flavors in the sauce canceled out the strong cilantro flavor and I actually enjoyed it a lot. President Thai is one of the OG spots, around for nearly 30 years. I hadn't been back in a while because it's always busy, but we decided to come for lunch on a Saturday. Even though it was packed, we were seated quickly. We ordered the seafood papaya salad, pad kee mao, President's BBQ beef, and fried banana with sticky rice for dessert. The food came out fast. The papaya salad was refreshing--sweet, sour, and tangy--with lots of squid but not much of the other seafood. The pad kee mao was my favorite; the flat noodles were cooked perfectly. The BBQ beef was tender with a nice grilled flavor. The dessert was a perfect ending, with sweet sticky rice and lightly fried bananas. Ambiance is very cozy, traditional and somewhat small so make sure to get there early because it gets packed. Parking but not too many spots. The service is great, our food was brought up pretty fast. Now the food, I love Thai food and this restaurant delivered. Love, loved their fried wonton with a ginger honey. I want to go back just for the wontons. We also had the cashew nut chicken which has a lot of cashews, which I appreciated. You could taste the lemon grass in the Tom you soup. It probably had like 4 pieces of shrimp in it, which I thought could've had more given the size of the soup. It did contain a lot of mushroom though. Beef satay: 5/5 Really good, very tender beef! The peanut sauce that it came with was also delicious, a good combination. Garlic Shrimp: 4.5/5 The shrimp was so good, but a bit salty from the toppings. I've come to this place a couple of times with family and friends perfect for all occasions, although I've noticed many birthday's are celebrated whenever we're there. We sat down around 8pm ordered at 8:10 and our first round of food/apps was at the table at 8:23 second app at 8:30 and entrees at 9pm and the restaurant was at capacity.. 2-apps! the soup pot fed 6ppl and there were seconds. Had our group been 8-10ppl we could've definitely made it work and everyone had a round of soup. We also ordered the shrimp cakes(8:30), came in 5 big rounds. We cut in half everyone ate plenty.. We ordered the tom kha (coconut soup) as an appetizer. 3-the main entrees came out at 8:55-9:05 so about 30min later. Not sure if that time line would change or stay the same had we not ordered the apps. We had 4 entrées, the presidential fried rice, the Pad See Ew, Eggplant Spicy Basil with ground chicken and the green curry w/chicken, all dishes were delicious.. the four entrees fed our party of 6 with leftovers. This could've easily been split with 8ppl 4-staff! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about our questions of the dishes. And they hustled.. not once did se see anyone slacking or did we ever have trouble calling them over. They were attentive and polite. 5-ambiance! The restaurant was great.. it definitely is packed in I've came where I've sat both inside and outside and it's all nice, I don't have a preference as outside(patio) feels just like inside, you couldn't even tell they had heaters and nice seating.
