Mr. Shebar and Jose are both excellent instructors who are patient and make sure that the students know the correct form for punches, kicks, and combos. The class isn't just for beginners, as the workouts are very difficult regardless of fitness level and most exercises can be made more difficult with variations. The other students are very friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. Amerikick Pompano is an excellent place to learn kickboxing and get in shape!

At Semper Fi, new kids are eagerly welcomed into the fold by the other kids and parents are quickly welcomed by other parents. There are no cliques and everyone is very open. When you join you are welcomed into a family like environment: There is no supremacy complex here. Higher belts help lower belts and learn even more while doing so. Their technique is refined and every class you practice what you know and learn something new. Sensei Julio is incredible. He establishes a safe environment for students to learn in a way that is technical, rule-based, and effective, but always fun. Even after a class where someone is corrected and doing push-ups or after a class where you just can't get the move down, every person leaves with a smile and a desire to come back and get back on the mat. Even more impressive is the feeling of family. Sensei Julio sponsors and provides all the eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt. His depth of caring for his students and the community is apparent, and he does all he can to make Semper Fi a positive community partner. The owners, Charlie and Kate, are experienced coaches and both have fought before. Charlie has a really vibrant personality and always has a smile on his face. Kate is a bit more of a drill sergeant so there is a good balance between the two. Assistant Coach Mary Bee is a great addition to the staff as well. She's fought several times in Thailand and is an active competitor in America. She has a real passion for teaching and has a wholesome demeanor making her very approachable. Mary teaches a weekly LGBT class which really helps the gym be inclusive. The membership of the gym is quite large so if you're looking to make friends this is a great place to go to as well. They have a large fight team as well for those of you looking to enter the ring. That of course isn't mandatory though.
