Failing that, there is a multistorey car park next to the hotel for which there is a discounted fee of £15 for hotel residents. It is a shame that the pool has been closed for a number of years, but I understand the reason as it primarily due to the running costs. All the staff I met were great. Slight problem was that my credit card hadn't been requested to add extgras, this was rectified later. I paid for a stocked minibar, it appeared to be chargeable to the room any items removed. It ws only just before checkout that I found that this wasn't the case. The signage in the fridge was confusing. Nevertheless a good size room and a comfortable bed. Although, my wife complained about the hard pillows.....I didn't find them to be a problem. I'm sure the hotel would have rectified them for my wife, if she had asked. I was recognised as a Diamond Elite member and breakfast was therefore included free of charge. The breakfast offerings were great, unfortunately, I didn't see the porridge in time and had cereal. Not the end of the world. Would I stay there again? Yes.

The location is perfect for walking to shops, restaurants, theater venues, etc. - almost too many places to list! Parking is off-site but is right around the corner. I would love to be able to stay here again should I ever be back in Leicester!

The hotel is only two years old so everything was new, modern and in pristine condition. My room was really nice and a pleasure to just hang out in. The bathroom was like a semi wet room. The shower was really powerful, bit like a warm massage. Crap view but you're in the middle of Leicester, so what would you expect? Talking of being in the middle of Leicester, the location of this place couldn't have been better. It's situated right in the centre of the Leicester's main shopping/dining area. As you walk out of the hotel you're walking distance from coffee shops, restaurants, bars, pubs and many shops. However I had to remove a star for two reasons. One, this Ramada Encore doesn't have it's own car park. Instead you have to use an NCP car park that's a few minutes away. Not a major problem but not ideal. The second reason I withheld a star was because I found a lot of the staff to be a bit arrogant and/or unhelpful. The service at reception just felt really unprofessional. Maybe I was just unlucky or caught them at a busy period. Who knows? Apart from those two minor complaints this is a lovely hotel. Ideal for short stays in Leicester. I'd definitely stay at the Ramada Encore again.

The rooms are typical Travelodge, basic, cosy and comfy. I have always liked them. I don't need a flashy hotel room. 2 towels is not really enough for a family room mind you, although I expect you can ask for more if you can be bothered. Also 1 bar of soap between the bath and the sink means you probably should be bringing your own shampoo/shower gel. Foodwise there are a lot of quite cheap options that you can get here and they do have a bar (although it is not especially good). I would avoid the overpriced crisps/just add water meals in the vending machine if I were you. During my visit they seemed to have a lot of technical problems. On arrival the booking system was not working so we had to check in manually. This was not in any way inconvenientand nor was one lift being out of order, because the other one was working just fine. In the end though these issues mean that I can't give more than 3 because the 3rd technical issue I encountered was a royal pain. Twice, during a 36 hour stay, my room card somehow became unsynchronized or unset somehow from the room. This meant I could get in through the first door and get up to my room, before not being able to get in and having to go back to reception. That was really irritating. I'd stay here again though..the location is superb for going out or shopping and you generally know what you're getting with Travelodges

Last time I stayed at the Belmont, which I adored, but this…read moretime I was hoping to save some money, and trusted the good reviews I saw online for Castle Park. After I had booked and told my friends where I was staying they said they thought the hotel was probably "cheap and cheerful," and I suppose that's the best way to describe it. I had a single room, a few (walk-up) floors up. The room was small but had an en suite bath. For the price, it was a great deal. But the room was so small that the door didn't open all the way. When I described this to my friends, I admitted that the single bed was wider than most, so perhaps that was the trade-off. And for that, it was worth it. I watched some TV on the itty-bitty television, I looked out the window into the alley-ish space. I also heard my neighbor snoring much of the night, and was thankful to have the TV to drown him out. I skipped the breakfast, which is served in the basement, but it seemed cozy. I had a funny experience when it came to getting to the place. I had taken the train up from London and the scheduled arrival was a little late for their check-in window. I had called and pre-arranged this with the front-office staff, but then the train was late and I was cutting close to the time we'd set. My Google Maps GPS is generally pretty horrid in Leicester, and I managed to overshoot the side street that the hotel is on. When I found it, I read my map (my GPS still not helping) to the place where Google told me the hotel was -- only to get there and find no hotel was there. I called the hotel, feeling somewhat frantic, and the desk clerk very kindly directed me back to where I should have been all along. She was super nice, calm, and helpful, even though I was probably keeping her late on what was probably already a long shift! They were also super nice the following day when I had them hold my bags. Overall, I was content with the hotel, and especially with their kindly service. The room was fine - clean and simple. But I'm realizing that I'm getting to an age where saving money isn't always my best idea -- and for me, a splurge to go back to the Belmont is probably my best bet for my next trip to Leicester.

Many moons later, I was back for a 30th birthday party so I thought I would book us in at the Belmont Hotel. I booked via Booking.com and it was £95. I think it would usually be cheaper but they were pretty booked up with a wedding and birthdays and so on. The hotel is on New Walk, not far from the train station, in one of the prettiest areas in town. I don't think people realise how pretty a lot of Leicester is. The reception is near the back of the building, if you go in via the car park. Staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was small but lovey. It's an old building but the rooms are modern. As others have mentioned the beds are super comfortable. Springy but firm, it was like sleeping on a sponge cake. Plus there was a firm pillow! That's all I need. Good tea selection on the hospitality tray, good toiletries, a hot shower. A comfortable night's sleep. Why 4 not 5? £95 didn't include breakfast and the walls are super thin so we could hear our neighbours. Nevertheless, I would book again and make sure I booked well in advance.

We stayed in a suite and it was huge. Like, so big that I told my husband if we ever lived in Europe we'd dream of having a flat that big -- because it was just a lot of real estate, especially compared to the average European hotel room. I think it may have made him cry a little inside because our home in California is a four-bedroom with us as the only inhabitants. But I digress. The furniture was also comfortable, power sources were ample, wifi free (after sign up), and the shower was great. If I had known then that my hotel in Paris had a shower head that would contort itself toward the shower wall, making my shower extra unpleasant, well, I'd have stayed in the shower at the Belmont longer. We had breakfast in the dining room and it was quite nice. I stuck with the cold stuff, but my husband added eggs which he said were fine. (In his words, "Yeah, they were good. A little runny, but whatever." This is why he doesn't Yelp.) The location was great - very close to the train, and right on the New Walk, which was convenient to me, because I was spending my days at a conference at De Montfort. The whole place was clean and lovely. I would absolutely return.
