I wanted a Unico high velocity air HVAC. system for an older home that had window units. Unico is…read morea highly rated system in other parts of the USA but it seems to be almost unheard of in this area -especially for retro fitting an old home . I had four contractors evaluate the house: one said it could not be done, another said( even though he had put in a Unico in his own home ) that he would have to tear up the attic floor and that the adjoining sunroom could not be serviced, and a third wanted to take away both bedrooms' closets and put the ductwork under the house in spite of our house being in a flood zone. Chris, the owner, said it would be no problem and designed and installed a Unico system that gave me a cooled and heated house-including the sunroom and all the bathrooms- with minimal disruption and I still have my closets! Overall, I was very satisfied with what Dutchman was able to accomplish in my small Cape Cod house that would have cost about 25% more and look horrible if I had gone with the "mini-split" that many other HVAC contractors had tried to sell me

I called this company for a diagnostic repair because my gas fireplace was not working. From the…read morestart, I pointed out that I suspected the pilot light assembly was the issue, since it is a common failure point. Two technicians came out and told me the entire fireplace needed to be replaced due to rust, quoting approximately $4,000. As an engineer who works on ships, I am very familiar with the difference between cosmetic rust and structural failure. The rust present was clearly superficial and did not justify replacing the entire unit. I decided to get a second opinion from another company, and they confirmed the problem was the pilot light assembly. They repaired and cleaned the fireplace for under $600, and the unit now works perfectly. I highly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to major replacements, as this diagnosis could have resulted in thousands of dollars in unnecessary costs.
