I normally don't write Yelp reviews but here it goes! First, I spoke with the Office Manager, Janet, who was just the most sincere/sweetest person I've encountered (possibly in my whole life lol). Her response time was amazing as well. Because of that, I had high expectations going into the office and Dr. Jhin totally did not disappoint. I came here because my prior dermatologist ran some blood tests but could not really "pinpoint" the issue or best treatments for me. Dr. Jhin listened, examined, really took time to explain what she saw, and gave me a few options in terms of go-forward approach. I really appreciate her expertise and knowledge! read more

I paid $300 for a dermatologist consultation and left feeling extremely disappointed and unheard. I came in specifically for eyebrow tattoo removal and noted on my intake form a medical concern, an autoimmune disorder, that absolutely should have been reviewed and discussed before talking about laser treatment. It became painfully obvious that no one, including the dermatologist, had taken the time to review my intake form at all. The consultation itself felt cold and uncomfortable. The dermatologist was not warm or welcoming, and the appointment felt awkward, like she was simply waiting for me to ask questions. I have never had laser treatment before and expected guidance, education, and reassurance during a $300 consultation. I also asked for before and after pictures (covering the patients identity), but they were hesitant and weren't sure if they had any. It made me distrust their ability for eyebrow removal. I left feeling confused and not confident in their ability. What upset me the most was what happened afterward. I called a few days later to explain my concerns and ask about a possible refund because the consultation did not meet even basic expectations. I was told the $300 was for the dermatologist's time, which I understand, but I truly felt like my time and money were wasted. Rather than acknowledging my experience or showing any empathy, they repeatedly tried to push me to use the $300 toward other treatments with them. I was told the manager would call me back the next day. Two weeks later, I am still waiting. I originally had no intention of writing a review because I shared my feedback directly, but the complete lack of follow-up and care afterward speaks volumes about how they treat patients once they have your money. I recently made an appointment for December 2025 for a consult. I was told they're now charging a $300 consult fee which can be applied to a procedure. It's hard to believe this is the same company I've gone to for the last 15 years and have spent $10,000 plus. I thought about it and canceled my appointment. I began receiving laser treatments for scarring at Premier Dermatology over a year ago. After noticing a lack of improvement after 5+ expensive treatments, I consulted with a prominent dermatologist and my team of plastic surgeons, all of whom told me Dr. Jihn prescribed the wrong type of laser that would have no efficacy on my scarring. I subsequently addressed these concerns with Dr. Jihn, who claimed it was a "difference in opinions" and subsequently asked what my ethnicity was. When I told her, she claimed she chose that laser because I have ethnic skin, but she didn't know my ethnicity prior to doing the treatments. I had a hydrofacial with the esthetician Sayaka Lima and was delighted: my skin was clean, radiant, and very smooth. I have been seeing Dr. Arron for years and followed her to PAD. Dr. Jhin is the BEST! The entire Premier Aesthetic Dermatology team is professional, caring, and extremely knowledgeable. After a laser treatment with another dermatologist, I experienced irritation and discoloration for over a month. After two follow-up appointments, the previous dermatologist suspected allergic reactions to my skincare products and Hydroquinone, prescribed a new medication, and recommended further laser treatments. Upon my daughter's recommendation, I consulted Dr. Jhin for a second opinion. Dr. Jhin conducted a comprehensive evaluation--including a review of my medical record, prescriptions, skincare regimen, and an examination of the affected area. She concluded that I wasn't suitable for laser treatment and ruled out allergies. Dr. Jhin then developed a treatment plan that successfully healed my damaged skin. This place was actually recommended to me by a family member. I had a lot of tiny, stubborn bumps on my face and had tried various face washes to get rid of them, but nothing seemed to work. On my second visit, I received an acne facial and extraction, and they were able to reduce the number of bumps. The atmosphere was very calm and quiet. This review is for the facial services by Saya. I received the "Mini Korean facial with Dermaplane add-on." I was really excited to try their Korean facial since I've heard so many good things about the efficacy of Korean facial methods. Saya's hands are gentle during the application of products and strong during the massage portion, which I loved! Each step was carefully introduced, a good balance between informative and relaxing. My main concern coming in today was preventing future acne breakouts and cleaning up old scarring. I normally turn pink/red after any facial treatment, so with that in mind Saya did a jelly mask. It was super cooling and left my face with minimal redness at the end of the treatment. Overall, I am really satisfied with my service and highly suggest Saya for a relaxing and effective facial. read more

My experience with Premier Dermatology has been positive because of the front office employee Janet. While I was waiting during my first visit and was walking around looking at the sunscreen, Janet was friendly and smiling as she took the time to explain each sunscreen brand and the skin type that would be suitable. I thought that was very kind of her. I appreciated that the front office being quick to respond to my voicemail with an email confirmation that they have received my message. Run away from this place don't walk. CONS - Jhin was 40 min late: not that this is unacceptable, but when they ask that you arrive 15 min early AND Marie Jhin opens the door to the exam room looks at you laughs and then shuts the door and does not reappear for another 20 min after you have been awaiting 20 min already..., really? Jhin's beside manner: did NOT wash her hands, was really rough and heavy handed when moving your body parts. In addition, she was extremely rude to me because I inquired about her tardiness--hey I needed to get to work too. They try to upsell you on both procedures and product --which again is good business, however when they are dishonest about it that is not right. IE: I went there for a scar evaluation and they stated the best treatment would be a RX bleaching cream which they sell for $60 and to which insurance does not cover. What they lied about was that even tho it is true that insurance does not cover--the RX price is LESS. Before I could agree to purchase they had all the paperwork ready for me to sign..., ummm No! The pages of paperwork they make you sign is also standard--with the exception of their copies are so poor--the typeface is not ledgible (I will post a image of their paperwork shortly). The unprofessional ethics and rudeness of Jhin, I would not recommend them as there are plenty of other places that are cleaner, less expensive and more honest. Horrible experience!! Do not go here!!! I had a silk peel which left abrasions all over my face. Doctor Jihn pretty much denied that the silk peel could have caused the abrasions which lead to broken capillaries on my face. Reasoning was because she has never seen it happen before. It happened because the cap on the silk peel machine malfunctioned. She then stormed out of the room! So unprofessional. Update: Janet V. of premier dermatology just commented on my review. It's been over 2 years since this incident. She is saying they have never heard of my claim and that what I wrote is defamatory and slander. Actually Janet V you are defaming me by calling me a liar. I did read the yelp reviews prior to my visit, but decided to disregard them which was a mistake. This is not a medical practice. It is merely a greedy business feeding off of people's vulnerable moments. I am sure they have a very robust cosmetic element to them where they perform procedures like Botox and lifts that is better. Though my experience with Premier was on the medical side which was very unprofessional. I came into the office and was greeted by a friendly woman. I was taken back pretty quickly and was helped by an assistant nurse who took down some things. She was clearly still in school. The doctor came in and asked me a few questions, checked my head very briefly, then said something definitive as if she had read a webmd article and made up her min. She didn't go into any detail about what it was, ask me questions about my medical history, or get more details about my situation. Then she left the room and 2 nurses walked in with expensive vitamins and serum I was given no directions on how to use. I asked what I was supposed to do and the nurse in training shouted at the doctor in the hallway about the dosage. Then one nurse comes in (or office lady wearing a nurse outfit?) and doesn't know what a common skin condition is that I don't have which is listed on the bottle. I went for a second opinion at the office of Dr. Francis Hsiao in San Francisco the next week. I definitely recommend him. He took real time to ask me about my medical history and go the right direction after my appointment. I do not know how this place is in business. I saw Dr. Jhin (and several dermatologists and nurses under her practice) back in 2015 and 1) they sent me to collections with little to no warning, 2) called collections several times on me even after I paid my balance. Separately, they stuck me with a bill that I think was ridiculous, but I paid it anyway because I guess it was my fault for not checking with my insurance first. I have never had such a poor experience with healthcare billing in my life, and I don't think I would ever see Premier Dermatology again simply to avoid this fiasco forever. Fortunately, I have ample documentation (email and receipts) proving payment, so hopefully, Premier hasn't negatively impacted my credit as a result of their poor financial organization. The girls that work the front desk are friendly and amazing . Dr Jin was the complete opposite of the staff . She was short and came across as not listening to my concerns and what my actual problem is. She did not introduce herself and was very unfriendly and unprofessional . Her responses made me feel like I was bothering her, and her tone was condescending I would not refer her office to anyone in the future - I had great experience in the past with laser hair removal but that was with a different nurse . I just left my appointment at Premier Dermatology and waiting at Allura Skin Care To be seen . I copied the rest from another review because that was my exact same experience . Came to this office in August for the first time to fix slight discoloration due to sun exposure in my decolletage area. After filling out my details and talking to the nurses and to Dr. Jhin about my extremely sensitive skin, she recommended IPL treatment and started working on me. As I was leaving, I paid an exorbitant amount of money for multiple IPL treatments. But something wasn't right. It was burning like mad. Soon I realized that I had second degree burns. I've contacted the office numerous times and they continued to say that it can't be. I took countless pictures and videos of the damage and eventually they believed me and admitted their fault. Dr. Jhin said she had no idea this could even happen. That really put me at ease, knowing a doctor could he so clueless. Sigh. She offered multiple "corrective" treatments free of charge, and stated that if and when the burns disappear completely, I could decide whether I wanted to continue with my treatments or get my money back for all of them, including the first one. I got these "corrective" treatments, and they were useless. They were so useless, in fact, that the staff kept trying to make me purchase creams and lotions to "speed up the healing process". One of those times, I actually did, and as I walked towards my car I realized that I shouldn't be paying for their malpractice, so I went back and asked to return the cream. They said they couldn't give me my money back and when I raised hell (I made the purchase exactly a minute prior) they finally cancelled the transaction. I didn't go back there after that, couldn't trust them. I let time and home treatments work their magic on my burns, and months later, I'm much better (still scarred, though.) Two weeks ago, I've decided to contact them and ask for my money back. They answered slowly and in a way that was very shady and kept telling me that they don't refund and that I got treatments and stuff. I explained my situation and was still mistreated. So I told them that I have a case to sue, and that I prefer not to, but only if they send me back my money as promised (mind you, this money was paid for treatments that I never got, with one of them causing me severe burns and scarring, so I definitely deserve it). They kept asking me to talk on the phone and I decided to tell them that I don't trust them anymore, and I prefer having it in writing. I wanted them to send me the money via check so we could have a paper trail of it (which would also help protect them from a lawsuit). They continued to ignore that, said I was harassing them and bothering them, and kept sending me a release form to sign where I would guarantee not to sue them. I told them that it makes zero sense for me to sign it before I get back my money, and that legally, if they send me a check, they can prove it and I have less of a case either way, but they didn't bother caring. They are calling me names when I ask them for humanity and kindness, for my own money back as promised to me (without any sort of compensation, I might add. I'm not even looking for compensation at this point - but I may look for it once I am forced to drag them to court for malpractice) as a result of me getting burned and scarred. read more

I love Premier Dermatology!! My sister and I attended one of their events back in Oct 2016, just for fun. I was curious because I am and looked 67, but still felt like I was 50. First they recommended the Obagi Skin Care. Pretty quickly my skin started changing for the better. Dr Jhin then recommended a few procedures. My tattoo artist has a more gentle touch than Dr. Jhin--and he learned his trade in prison! I'm serious... the whole experience was truly upsetting: 1. The front-desk staff are not well informed or knowledgeable about what they are doing. I walked in, and stand at the front window for five minutes before two of them stop their conversation [a major inconvenience to them, I know] and ask me, "What? Can I help you? What are you here for?" WHAT do you THINK I am here for, ballet lessons? For Chrissakes, look at the appointment book in the morning, folks, and see who's coming in... 2. I was led back to an appointment room and asked to put on a surgical gown--without even being asked what the area of concern was (a mole check... on my face [it started bleeding a few days before]!). This made me feel very uncomfortable. 3. When the Dr. Jhin came in, she did not introduce herself. She did not shake my hand. She immediately started poking me, without explaining the dangers or possibilities of skin cancer, mole treatments, and cancer prevention--nothing: complete silence. More uncomfortable feeling on my part. She even sighed when looking at parts of my body where I have tattoos, saying "It's so hard to see with all.. this." (Again, feeling uncomfortable!) 4. Dr. Jhin then said, "Well, since your mole bled, we should biopsy it. I'll have to see about your HMO. Just a minute." "What does that mean?" I ask. Blank stare. "We biopsy it. We cut it off and send it to the lab." Such a nice bedside manner! She disappeared. Reappearing five minutes later, she says, "We have to get approval from your HMO to do the biopsy. This could take a few weeks." A FEW WEEKS? My moles are BLEEDING! 5. She disappears again. And doesn't come back... Ten minutes go by, and I figure I should check on what is going on, so I dress, and go back to the front. 6. "I'm sorry, what do you need?" says the front desk. I hit the roof. "WHAT do I need? How about a little communication? I'm left in there, being told it's going to be a few weeks. I have no idea what the next step is. I'm not told to re-dress. I'm not told to come back to the front. You're the one that works here. You tell me what I need." Well that certainly got them shuffling papers and scuttling about! When I came back two weeks later (after my HMO approved the biopsy), Dr. Jhin came into the exam room, no mention of the past experience, and said, "This is XXXX, a medical student." She then proceeded with the biopsy. I don't know about you, but I'd like to be asked permission to be some medical freak experiment for grad students to observe! I was not asked... Dr. Jhin then administered the anesthetic, saying, "You'll feel a slight prick." That prick was a sharp pain, enough for me to cry out! It was more painful than any of my four tattoos! "Well, good thing is, you won't feel anything after this," said Dr. Jhin. Wrong again, Dr. Jhin. I'm feeling very angry about the fact that my PCP gave me a referral to you. The facial here shouldn't be called a facial. Even though the thing they call a "facial" was covered by insurance I will NEVER go here again, not for anything. The aestician Sheila did not know the slightest thing about skincare and provided a 15 minute service that was clearly NOT a facial. She got offended when I asked her a simple question about what the facial entails. The Dermatologist was nowhere in sight they said she is mainly in the SF office......the only folks running this office are assistants and the like. They are the most unknowledgable about skin. I felt like going here was the biggest waste of my time and it turned out a colleague of mine had the same exact experience months before as I later found out. I was not just looking for zero stars but actually I was looking for negative stars for review : unprofessional, unskilled and unethical. When I went here for a medical issue (not a cosmetic issue), I was seen by a nurse rather than a doctor. I was not told that when I made an appointment by phone. Apparently Dr Jhin works at a completely different office on the day when I had an appointment. Why was I not told that. The nurse was completely clueless as to what my skin issue was and using a scalpel and very carelessly scraped my skin off for 'test'. Then she asked me to come back in a week. I called a few days later to ask what were the results if the 'test'. I was told the results take two weeks to arrive. So why was I asked to return in just one week when the results take two weeks? So I cancelled my appointment and told the receptionist that I am not going to come back until I get the results. Two weeks pass. No results. I was told it would take longer. After about three weeks or so I got a call from Dr Jhin herself (remember Dr. Jhin had never seen me as it was a nurse who diagnosed and scraped my skin for test). Now this time Dr. Jhin says the tests were negative and asked me when I could visit again. I politely refused to be seen by them again. I wonder how this place is still open. I would have thought some federal agency would have closed shut this place long ago. Again, I would give then MINUS five stars or worse. But yelp does not allow me to give them less than 1 star. read more

I had a horrible experience dealing with this place. I was visiting my family in the Bay Area for ONE WEEK only, so WELL OVER A MONTH IN ADVANCE I reached out and requested an appointment date to get a peel done. I had a very important event 2 weeks after in NYC so I planned this accordingly. Anyways, I spent (and WASTED) SO MUCH TIME emailing them back and forth about all the details of the peel including pricing which I was fine with and images of my face etc. Was very happy and looking forward to the peel until just a day or two BEFORE when I never received a confirmation email or call which I thought was strange, I emailed them for them to tell me they didn't have MY APPOINTMENT TIME AVAILABLE!!! I scheduled it 6 weeks in advance because I was only there for ONE WEEK! Knowing this they told me their soonest available was a week later after I would be back in NYC. I can't say anything about the dermatologist because I NEVER GOT TO SEE HER! Absolutely horrible customer service and disregard for my time. I emailed them explaining how upset I was and showed them proof I requested the appointment over a month in advance which they confirmed. I don't know why Yelp takes down HONEST reviews.!! Lets see if they take this down. It seems to be consistent with dozens of others here. How can they run a business like this? I am writing to you about my recent experience at Premier in San Carlos. I made an appointment in the beginning of June to see Dr. Jhin for a growth on my head and to check my moles. The entire experience was disturbing from beginning to end. I had a subcutaneous growth/blood vessel on my forehead that needed to be looked at. I expressly asked both the nurse and the doctor to look at my moles in addition to the growth. Dr Jhin walked into the office and in less than 120 seconds shot me in the face with the topical pain reliever and left. Dr. Jhin spent no time at all with me as a new patient. NONE. She came back and removed the growth on my head. This took a total of less than 10 minutes in all. Because she was in such a rush, I was not numb enough and felt the procedure. She shaved it unevenly and sloppy. During that time, I asked her to look at my upper body for moles and SHE REFUSED. She stated, "You need to come back and see my nurse for that". VERBATUM! I couldn't believe it. 5 minutes! You couldn't spend and extra 5 minutes with me! I didn't take time off work from a bust biotech startup to see a nurse! I am entitled to see a board certified doctor where my health is concerned. Forget that fact I arrived early as requested and was seen a half hour late. Par for the course I suspect! In retrospect, I was so disappointed in myself for not going to my Dermatologist in San Mateo that I have seen for 20 years. He was always booked out 4 weeks and I was working 50 hours at a new biotech startup right around the corner from Premier. I live in San Carlos so I thought I would go somewhere new. I should have read your YELP reviews. After refusing to look at my moles, I made an appt to see the nurse on the following Sat. After I thought for a while, I was so disgusted at how I was treated I decided to go back to my dermatologist in San Mateo. When I arrived to see my long time dermatolgist he patiently listened to my experience. In 2 minutes, he found a very serious melanoma on my back. In one appt we managed to catch up on our families, laser the mole on my head because it was not taken care of the first time with Dr. Jihn, and spend less than five minutes of his time looking at my chest and back for moles. He then shaved the worrisome mole from my back and it came back badly. My dermatologist has been practicing for 25 years and is booked out for weeks, if he can spend 5 minutes with me than Dr. Jhin could have. Total time: 20 Minutes I have now had a huge 4-inch section of my back taken off. Of course if Dr. Jhin could have been bothered to spend an extra five minutes with me she would have found it! What a disgrace she is to the profession. To not even check the skin of a 44 years old woman who has skin with moles because she was disinterested, apathetic, uncaring, and had a more expensive treatment to get to! Marie Jhin was recommended to me by a fellow Wellesley alumna -- I guess she went to Wellesley undergrad. Like many dermatologists, her practice is also focused on skin treatments, a higher margin business (presumably) than her medical practice. I visited for a toenail fungus. Each visit was very brief (less than 5 minutes), but I liked that it was fast and efficient. The recommended treatment was clear so, really, I went more for the prescription than anything else. Today was my final appointment (hooray!) and I was fairly happy with the overall service. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Jhin for YEARS and have gone to her offices in Redwood City, San Carlos and SF. I have high expectations of customer service (and have no problem writing less than stellar reviews) and I have never, ever, had anyone at Dr. Jhin's office be unfriendly to me. I am not the easiest patient by any means because I get massive anxiety about my face being touched and it's a dermatologist's office! Not only are they completely understanding and kind about it, they have definitely taken extra time to calm me down when I'm fearful or nervous about something. Dr. Jhin's "bed side manner" is awesome. She has never failed to inquire about my daughter, my business, and my own health and happiness. Let's be clear, when I have gone to the "Day of Beauty" events, it is crowded for sure and I have had to wait a long while. However, these days are offering procedures at deeply discounted rates and people come from far and wide to get them - often getting two to three things done at once. I sure as hell don't want anyone to hurry up on my Botox or laser treatments! On my regular visits, I have had a shorter wait, but again, it's like any doctor's office and no one can assume they'll be seen immediately. I have had everything from Botox and Restylane to IPL and sclerotherapy. I've had moles removed and biopsied and my daughter has been for various things. On all occasions, we've been treated very well and when I had a full blown panic attack about getting stitches (due to the mole removal) and started crying (I know, right?) the staff were freaking awesome and calmed me down. I didn't even feel it after I was numb so I panicked about nothing. I cannot tell you how many times I have had people tell me I'm lying when I tell them how old I am. I give Dr. Jhin all the credit for that. Her Botox injections are done in a way that preserve facial expressions (yes I CAN smile, raise my eyebrows, etc.), my Restylane looks totally natural and I've friends inspect my face close up because they don't believe it, and the skin creams such as Obagi (which I use for dark spots) really do work and are completely worth the cost. You can find it online for sure, but I'd rather know my cream is not expired, the real deal, and sold to me by a qualified practitioner. I'm not going to tell you that it's always painless, but it's never unbearable. Hell, I'm getting needles in my face what would I expect?! Anyway, I've just scheduled an appointment for Monday and I can't wait. I want to start 2013 refreshed and feeling good about myself and Premier Dermatology helps me do that. It's unfortunate so many people seem to have had bad experiences because I totally cannot relate after 8 years of being a patient. I'm dumbfounded and highly recommend them. I would have given 5 stars but voluntary procedures are indeed a little pricey. However, I get what I pay for. :) read more

Dr. Jhin is the best dermatologist I've ever seen! Not only is she an amazing physician, I would also call her an artist ... who is always on the front lines, when it comes to cosmetic procedures. She has a talent, in my opinion, which can't be taught. In my last visit, I had a "Vampire Facial" or PRP treatment - as it is professionally known - where your own plasma is injected back into your face. As with all treatments with Dr. Jhin, I was WOWed by the results ... my face feeling and looking younger, rejuvenated and illuminated. I wanted laser hair removal and decided to do it at a dermatologist's office instead of the laser centers. I've had Dr Jhin do my hair removal a couple times but I think that Gayla, the RN, does an exceptional job and I'm very happy with the results. read more

I went to Premier Dermatology 3 times for the same thing. I had a wart which would not die! The PA was extremely nice and attentive. She tried the least evasive procedure first however since it kept growing back she cut it off. I felt no pain and she described the entire procedure so I was at ease. Well done! The receptionist is friendly for the most part and I've had no problems with the staff. I've never met or needed treatment by Dr. Jhin. I referred this office to my wife for a skin tag removal. As a small business owner myself, I can understand how we cannot make every single customer happy. Even though some experiences may not have been as pleasant as mine, you can tell a lot of the negative reviews about this office were based purely on emotion. I'm sure other factors such as unexpected results play a huge factor in the reviews as well. I like this office so I'd give them a try and judge for yourself! Slamming a small business is just not cool, especially a local business trying to make it here in California. Just my 2 cents. read more

I've seen Dr. Jihn twice, she was very confident in diagnosing a problematic rash on my foot. It turns out it wasn't a skin condition but some other underlying condition which my primary care physician completely missed. Her diagnosis was spot on. She didn't head straight into a prescription medication, just home care, and the symptoms were gone in about a month. I also took my daughter in, this time to see another doctor on staff for what appeared to be a cyst. Considering my daughter's activity in sports, she gave us the options, actually recommending we see another doctor who specializes in the procedure we need. In terms of dermatology for medical needs, Dr. Jihn's office is very caring, very professional and I will definitely return one day should the need arise. read more

I would not recommend this place. I email them to renew a prescription but instead try to throw me under the bus and tell me I have to schedule an appointment with them in order to get it. Never happened to me before. Please find somewhere else, don't recommend. read more
