Preikestolen Camping has actually only one goal: being quick at the Preikestolen Hike the next day for this wonderful route to the fjord. But honestly, the campground is well maintained, I have heard there was a change in management a year ago or so and since then, it improved a lot.
I cannot say what was wrong before that point of time, but I can say now it`s a pretty smooth campground. The reception is very friendly, not much to wait and helpful, free WiFi you find there. The ground is quite big so there is plenty of space for any kind of vehicle, tent and everything inbetween. The bathroom/shower-aera looked nice and clean, there are no tokken needed for a shower, makes it comfortable. Though, I am not sure if 3 toilets for men are enough. There are also tables and fireplaces around for comfy evenings with a sip and a chat.
The bad side of this ground is the lacking of enough electricity. Only a few electric power supply stations across the campground, never sufficient for everybody so dont bring your battery completely down that day.
Ah, there is a spot behind the reception building, a small hill where you can see the sundown, clear and beautiful, stunning and amazing! By coincidence, I discovered this spot and was so lucky; my only sundown in two weeks Norway! read more
