I have be coming to this shop for a long time. My 2010 C300 had an issue with the taillight and Frank stated to go to the dealer because it was a recall. that's when I knew that this is where I will always bring my car. I also brought my 2019 tacoma there for maintenance. These guys are awesome! Now, I have my 2021 E-350 Mer Mer for maintenance and I will always bring it there!! Just had my b1 performed and it needed a battery. He added that to my list and I was ok with that!! People complain about services, but most people don't bring in their cars for maintenance.... that is the problem because it causes more issues and they get mad. It's not their fault! We were temporary residents of Santa Cruz, intending to stay for about two months. We had driven our Mercedes Sprinter cross-country, and the brakes were making a squeaking sound. We spoke to Frank on the phone, and he told us to bring it into the shop. Frank personally inspected the vehicle, and ultimately decided that we didn't need any repairs. He also patiently and competently answered some questions that my husband had about the Sprinter. When it was time to pay, Frank informed us that it would be gratis! My husband gave him a tip anyway for his time. We have since driven another 1000+ miles without any issues. read more

Their response was that they have enough customers that they do not need to follow through with me. Sadly I am not the only one who was told this I found out from other ex-customer. Incompetent. They did everything wrong. They parked the car unlocked under the only place with birds dropping onto the car in the sun causing permanent paint damage. They charged for doing absolutely no work, and were unable to do the most basic mechanical tasks of performing a repair for a common part with a common warranty, and did not find a basic turn signal problem, instead breaking some electrical systems, and for all this damage and nothing fixed, they charged me $130. My regular mechanic that is further away never did anything like that. Further is better. Don't go to Santa Cruz for any good services. read more

The receptionist was extremely arrogant, treated me very rudely on the phone, and quoted me $390 to diagnose what might be wrong with my car when there was an electrical short due to the heavy rain, not including any repairs. They had broken the handle off of the hood release without telling me or repairing it and drastically overcharged me for work beyond what I had requested when I had brought my car in years ago, but I momentarily considered going to them again in a pinch; thank goodness their rude receptionist and outrageous quote saved me from giving them my business again . Ordered a radiator and hoses from Alisha and it arrived the same day! Prompt service and call backs, price was higher then other shops but Ive learned my lesson buying after market parts for my e320, buy quality, because time is worth more then gold! Went there after my battery completely died. They need to jumpstart it do move it after I turned it off. Hefty price for a battery but hey, I needed it. So I paid. When I picked up my car I noticed my back camera didn't work anymore. Reached out and got told to come in so they will take a look. Talked to the owner Fred. Came in at 8am (after the call) and till 8:45am no one showed up at the reception. Left. So called in and set up an appointment on a Wednesday and arranged to work from home that day. Arrived. Dropped of the car and made myself comfortable in there nice little waiting area (not all bad). Not even 5min in, the receptionist comes back and said that the service previously performed has nothing to do with the faulty camera and I would have to pay an evaluation fee. I told her about the call with Frank and he said he will at least take a look at it. She said she is not aware of any arrangements and I have to pay or come back after I talk to Frank and setup another appointment. Not blaming that they caused the faulty camera although the next mechanic stated that could have happened during the jumpstart. But the poor communication and waste of my time is none acceptable. I needed them as I was over the hill and now I know why I'm always service my car on the valley side. read more

The woman at the front desk is FANTASTIC! She was so knowledgeable about the issue my car was having and gave me an in depth reason why it happened. She also broke down the quote to me after inspection and I noticed she wasn't only nice to me but she also acknowledged anyone who came in the shop. Curious that there are only 5 or 1 star reviews. Believe the 5 star reviews. I have had Frank work on a number of high end MB and Porsche for me. All work exceeded expectations. Also note the shop is always crammed with cars. Meaning people trust the guy and his work. Not something you find at other repair shops! If his work really was bad it would be like all the other crappy shops in the area and only a car or two in the driveway. I mean the shop is in the middle Santa Cruz. These guys are the best! I have a 170" ext Sprinter van. Throughout the last couple years Frank and his crew have gone above and beyond. I travel a lot and have had my Mercedes in for routine services nationwide. Generally everyone tried to up-sell you on more than you need. Frank and Scott are straight shooters, light hearted, kind & they Make Precision Mercedes live up to its name! This is the only shop I trust. If you're within 100 miles of Santa Cruz and need Sprinter service, this is the place! One time the part failed from a repair they did on my van after an accident. (No fault of theirs). When it came time to replace the clutch in my 2005 BMW 530i, I looked at every shop I could. Luckily for me, I helped a friend drop off her Mercedes at Precision Mercedes, and just happened to ask if they do BMW's. Frank gave me a quote on the spot and said he could do the work within a few days. I got a dozen quotes all over the bay area, and Franks was the lowest. Which is great, since its close to my house, as well as specializing in German cars. Double win for me. When I dropped my car off the day before the service, Frank stayed around the shop after hours so he could put my car inside overnight. Another big plus. I even got a ride home from Kate, his office assistant. That was a great plus. The next day, my car was ready by 2pm, far better than I would have expected. When I picked up the car, Frank was nice enough to top up my washer fluid and also said that I needed new front brakes, which I knew. Now with BMW's you're supposed to replace the pads and rotors, always. Frank said that he'd be able to resurface the rotors and it wasnt necessary. Really great to see a shop owner do whats possible to save their customers money. Overall, I've got myself a new mechanic, and am very glad to have found Frank and team. The service was fast, spot on with the price, and the work was done very fast. The shop is convenient to get to in Santa Cruz. I went to this shop on Friday June 26 I met with a woman by the name of Liz. She immediately told me they don't work on RV'S When I told Ilz that I was referred by Richard and Juan the person (who was working with Liz) told Liz they can work on my generator and to bring my RV IN AT 8:30 Monday. When I arrived Liz told me where to park. She then told me to wait inside waiting room. When she got to me Liz informed me that they only work Mercedes vehicles I told her about the arrangements. She stated "sorry about that " and walked away. I am sure this is a shop that is very competent but in this case they really dropped the ball I hope the owner is aware of my experience . I feel very blessed that my significant other had work done on his car at Precision Mercedes and, he found Frank, the owner, by a mutual friend who had highly recommended him. CHARACTER/COMPETENCE/CONSIDERATION /CUSTOMER SERVICE: If you could imagine an angel being a mechanic that would embody Frank. Outside of his impeccable know-how and off-the-charts competence as a mechanic (and I've dealt with and paid, over paid sloppy less competent mechanics before far more and to fix their errors), Frank's know-how is matched, if not superceded by his sense of fairness, honesty, his attentiveness, work ethic and perfectionism with a deep sense of pride in not only doing right by your vehicle but by you. He under promises and over-delivers. He is thorough. His shop is impeccable. He has cars lined up and down the street as well as flooding his large, immaculate shop. This guy has amazing reviews and tons of them for a reason - and he is busy. Yet, he immediately jumps onto diagnosing my beloved 1993 400E Mercedes that's been inoperable because of a freakish event that led to a blown engine/motor. VALUE: I was quoted, worse case scenario, $6800 to repair my car. For many reasons, I wanted to keep this. It's an amazing car and it's already got other major repairs invested in it and well, I'm attached. Frank did the repair, rebuilt my engine - along with a TON of other additional detail work and parts, he had a genuine desire to do (at a mere fraction of competitor's costs) because he really wanted my car to be at its best and it would need to be done anyhow - significantly discounted - to $3500 for ALL. This was not an up sell. It benefited me, not him, after the steep discounts he gave me. IN CLOSING: I only have a few, minor and inexpensive, non-urgent things to attend to in the near-future to keep my beloved car up and working for many years to come. None of the "other" repairs greedy or incompetent mechanics had previously alerted me to unnecessarily "needing" in the future. He assured me that my car was a great, solid car. I believe him. He knows his trade, is thorough and a perfectionist. Nothing gets past him. Despite having cars lined up and down the street, I feel like he gave me his full attention. No delay. Chose the harder and more costly ways at his expense to do right by me. Selflessly. Additionally beyond that, he wants me to bring my car back after driving it for a week - just to check-in with him, to make sure all is well or address any concerns so he can make sure it's absolutely in perfect order. He apologized for not washing it and after everything he did for me, I never would've even expected that anyhow - from any mechanic - angelic like Frank or sloppy yet more over-priced, like prior mechanics. Frank has a customer for life. If you can love in a non-weird way (rather have so much gratitude that it is oozing like love) - for him, his lovely wife, their team - not only for his competence, attentiveness and precision as a mechanic but equally for his loving, honest and generous spirit, that's how I feel. One of those alone is a rare find; that combination is powerful. Filled with awe and gratitude. People like Frank are rare treasure. Thank you. Efficient, Excellent, and Expedited service. I never come in with an appointment: I drive an 85 diesel Mercedes, so I arrive only when something is very WRONG (in tears). This team is well-equipped with the idiosyncratic wears and tears of "vintage" Mercedes. They have a very efficient triage system going on here. Usually, Frank comes out shortly after to tell me what is wrong with the car, and whoever is behind the front desk gives me a quote. Free diagnostics are always helpful. My water pump blew and it was a 2+ plus "surgery." One of the guys drove me and picked me up so I didn't have to wait at the shop. If that isn't A+ service, I don't know what is! read more

I was fairly happy with this shop the first few times I took my nice 1984 300TD in. Then I had them replace the rear axles and they failed at this task in a very big way. Both axles developed excessive play where the splines plug into the hubs. It was bad enough that I had to get it towed in for them to follow through and do it right. They did their thing and said it was good to go but by the time I drove it home they were loose again. So I bring it back and the same thing happens again....they say it's fixed and then it comes loose. I ended up bringing it back 5 times after the first repair and it is still loose. The last and final visit I left the car there for 3 weeks, asked them to test drive it to make sure it is right and they didn't even bother.....It's still loose. During the course of all my visits they also 1) Left my hood unlatched and I had to pull off the highway in a hazardous place to shut it. 2) They also did this with the rear hatch. 3) They left nasty greasy dirt all over my steering wheel. 4) They would not reply to repeated phone messages or emails. 5) I asked them to lock my key in the car so I could pick it up after hours and I arrive to find my car unlocked on a busy street where many unsavory characters walk by. The lack up professionalism is astounding. They clearly do not give a crap about my classic Benz. read more

If I could give more than five stars I would. I am so impressed by the integrity and dedication of everyone at this shop. In the fall my daughter purchased an older Ford Focus which after a couple months started having intermittent problems. First, we did the basics... tune up; changed the oil, plugs and plug wires; replaced the distributor cap. None of those helped so we took it to Frank. He and his team worked so hard to figure out what this intermittent problem could be and since the check engine light wasn't coming on, he had to work from the description of events as provided by my teenage daughter. Not a lot to go on! Long story short, It took several trips and a tremendous amount of time and dedication from Frank and crew, but they found the problem (actually two problems) and my daughter's car is now back to its happy self. *** It's important to mention that Frank refused to charge us even a penny until he found the problem and was able to fix it.*** Precision Mercedes took such good care of us that I also brought my 2017 Fusion to them for new tires, brakes and oil change. So tired of getting jerked around by these guys. I came in needing both catalytic converters on my CLK replaced. I was given a reasonably priced quote and told to drop it off whenever, get one replaced at a time. Called the next day to confirm that the part was in stock and I could drop off my car, was told of course, come on down, so I asked a coworker to meet me at the shop before work so I could drop off my car and get a ride back. When I got there I was told the part wasn't in stock and I'd have to wait a few days. That's annoying, but fine, I arranged to come in a few days later. Again, called the shop 15 minutes before I drove over to confirm that I could be seen that day and had a coworker meet me at the shop when I arrived. This time I was told my car couldn't be worked on that day because some of the lifts weren't working. When I explained to Frank that I was a little frustrated because this was the second time I'd taken time out of my work day to be blown off after confirming my appointment on the phone, he just said "I'm not Jesus." Well you don't have to be Jesus to double check you've got a part in stock. I asked if he could please make an effort to see me that day and he flatly refused. When I left, I got a call from them saying Frank decided he would do the repair that day. I said okay, when should I come by? He said I'll call you right back and give you a time. Never called back. After shopping around for other quotes, Frank's was still the lowest price. Really wanted to give these guys a chance based on the other reviews and their proximity to my house, so I begrudgingly brought my car back in a week later and finally they were able to switch out one of the converters. Couple of days ago I called to ask if they could repair the second one that day, and they said I'll call you right back. Never called back. Yesterday I called again and I was told sure, bring it over. I said, are you sure you have the part? I was told yes, bring your car over tomorrow. Had the same coworker meet me at the shop this morning so I could drop my car off and go to work. They made me wait half an hour before telling me, surprise surprise, the part isn't in stock. Clearly there's a massive communication gap between the front desk and Frank. I'd have to be an idiot to step foot in this place again. EDIT: Just thought I'd post an update. I had my catalytic converters replaced at Holiday Muffler & Brakes for nearly 1/3 the price Precision Mercedes quoted me and they were very timely and professional read more

This has been the worst experience I ever had with an auto repair shop. Disorganized and unprofessional. After I expressed three times I would not be able to leave my car over night, the owner decided to keep my car to finish work on it because he located a part. Not only did I have to stay in a hotel, they gave me a loaner car with absolutely no gas in it. Of course I was stranded the next day and delayed for an appointment. All this could have been avoided had the owner simply followed the customer's wishes. read more
