We had an extremely disappointing experience with this company. My husband scheduled an appointment for someone to come out and provide an estimate for garage door openers, expecting it to be just that...an estimate. At no point during the Google quote process, email confirmation, or prior to the visit were we informed there would be a fee. At the end of the appointment, my husband was surprised to be charged $95 with no prior disclosure. If we had known there was a cost just to receive an estimate, we would have made a different decision. Transparency matters, and this felt misleading and unprofessional. To be fair, the technician was nice and knowledgeable, but that doesn't make up for the lack of upfront communication about pricing. I would not recommend using this company based on our experience. A human answered and scheduled an appointment for them to come check out our situation for a quote on Monday. They arrived within the window and called and texted to let us know when they were on their way. Was given estimate for repair and for replacement. Precision Garage Door is exceptional! My garage door springs broke late in the afternoon and I called Precision to see if they could send someone out to fix it. Talk about responsive! They answered my call right away and their service technician, Mr Robert Sawyer, came out within an hour. He did a complete assessment of the problem and provided me with several options. Door and springs were over 30 years old and due to their age I ended up replacing the whole spring and rod assembly, as well as put in a new garage door opener. Price was in the ballpark with past repairs I have had at my previous house with other companies. I lost one of the remotes for the opener that Precision installed for us several years ago. I thought that the easiest way to get a replacement was to order one from Precision. That might have been easy, but it was EXPENSIVE! After my first email inquiry, I was contacted and told that the opener would be over $60.00 and installation another $80.00. I demurred. I then emailed again and asked if I could buy the remote only and skip the installation. I was told that wasn't possible, since Precision does not do retail sales. I then did some research and learned that Precision openers are made by Linear. I looked on the back of my remote, found the Linear part number, and bought one online for $20.00. I have used Precision several times in the past, and always received fine service. Due to this experience, I will use another company the next time that I need service. read more

Long story short- Precision quoted us over the phone a few hundred to fix our torque master spring on the garage door. Guy came out, said he couldn't fix and he'd have to convert and it would be $800. I understand it's a dated crappy system and we wouldn't have had a problem converting if they gave us an honest price. Had another company come out and charged us $280 to convert the system. Saved us over $500 and I'm so glad we refused to do business with Precision. I don't want to name the other company here, but if you search other garage door companies in the area- you'll find my review! Shame on them for trying to get one over on us. read more

Well let me start off where it all began. I ordered my new garage door and garage door opener in January of 2021. I was quoted 8 weeks till the door would be installed. Then the nightmares started. First Mary called in early March saying the door was in and they were ready to install so we set a date for a few days later only to get a late night text from Mary starting the door had not come in and they would have to wait to reschedule. Then the next week Mary called again to say the door was in and set a install date a few days later. Well a few days later Mary calls and says the door didn't come in but this time she was going to have sales representative call me to explain the circumstances. Of course his story was completely different then Mary at Precision. Based on his call, I didn't expect delivery till at least another month, but low behold Mary calls again soon and says the door is in, I put my eyes on it and we are ready to install. She said she would do it whenever it was convenient for me. So I set up for that Friday to install. Each time they scheduled a install date I took off that day for them which amounted to 3 days of no pay and I could not go into work after taking the day off. I explained this to her her and asked for some concessions on the cost of the door, they gave me back about 10 percent off the cost but was no where near the equivalent of the money I would have made had I worked when they told my door was to be installed. I asked for 10 percent more and she said she would get back to me but of course she never did. The door got installed although they have terrible housekeeping, I was just glad to get it over with. I paid a few days later and then almost 2 months after the door install, Mary contacts me again saying the credit card company they used didn't accept the money off my card and they needed to recharge me. Come on does it ever end with this company. I told her I needed to insure my bank didn't release the funds, but of course she was inpatient and kept emailing me saying she was going to recharge my card and emailed me like 10 timeS. Then she just recharged my card without even a phone cAll. Something is fishy with this business and the reviews seem to attest to this. read more

Had our garage door opener repaired on 9-24-2020. Failed on 9-30-2020. Serviceman came back out and admitted he should have replaced a plastic part on the chain that was worn. That service call cost $175.00 for a few minutes. At the second call he spent 10 minutes replacing the plastic part and wanted another $75. My advice, use Precision Garage Door at your own peril. Definitely felt incredibly misled by this company. I was searching for a company to repair the rollers on my sliding glass door. The door was in excellent condition, but recently had some difficulty opening the door. After a technician from Precision came out to evaluate the door, he said there was "absolutely no way to the repair the door" that I would need to replace the door for nearly $3,800. Meanwhile, I called another company and explained the problem and he said he was very familiar with the my door and had repaired several in the neighborhood. This company (NOT Precision) said it would be ONLY $135 to repair! Quite a bit cheaper than $3,800. Before the other company came out to fix it, my dad, who is NOT a window repair technician, took a look at the door, determined the back rollers had moved off the track and adjusted the door back on the track for FREE! I'm still in shock about these guys!!! Garage door was stopping randomly when going down, Precision Door Service sent one of their technicians (George), after almost 30 minutes of pointing out how many things he thought were wrong with my garage door and motor, he suggested a completely new door, motor and spring for a total of $2,800. I didn't believe a word of what he said and started doing some research, after going through our house paperwork I found the company that replaced the garage door only 2 years ago (we bought the home only 1 year ago, so we didn't know about the new garage door). I called the company, they came over and replace a $35.00 high limit switch and the problem was fixed. George wanted $2,800, he was 100% sure that I was having issues because of the age of the garage door....you hear about these type of stories on the news, I never thought that they were companies like this around here. George didn't even open the motor unit, he made his whole diagnosis from the ground, also installed a L shape bracket that wasn't needed. Terrible experience!! read more

A Precision technician came out. We requested help in fixing our broken garage door opener. Technician claimed it and our door were shot. Would not quote us on opener, but only garage door with new opener. Quoted $1500 to $2100. He said our garage door was too old and shot. Truthfully, the garage door is 39 years old. But I believed his claim that it was shot untrue. I chose to get a 2nd opinion. He fixed the opener and replaced some garage door rollers and it works fine. The total cost was $350. I asked the price of a new door. This company said $850 including labor. End result, I would not recommend Precision to repair garage doors. read more

Our garage door wouldn't open using the garage door opener installed by Precision less than 2 years ago. Our home warranty company dispatched AHS to fix it. When the Precision technician came, he didn't even get a ladder and look at the motor. He said the motor wasn't strong even for the weight of my heavy door. Precision recommenced and installed the motor I have less than 2 years before. The technician only was interested in selling me a door for $2200 or rebuilding my door for $900. I asked if the motor could be defective and he said he has never seen a defective Linear motor in his lifetime. He was rude, pushy, and couldn't answer our questions regarding if the motor could be fixed. He was insistent we needed a new door or to rebuild our door. I asked AHS for a second a opinion. The technician from East Coast Door came and checked the door opener and said he would get his ladder. He got on his ladder and thoroughly inspected the motor, tracks and all parts in of the door. Then, he explained that the gear was stripped and said that happens frequently in the Linear motors installed by Precision. He told me the problem was strictly the motor and that my garage door was not the problem. He showed me parts of the garage and explained how they work and why mine are fine. I cannot express how disappointed I am in Precision Door Company and would not recommend them. I would never use them as they use inferior quality equipment and when it fails, they try to sell you new doors and try to sell you parts that are unneeded. It was a bit strange to schedule it through what seemed like a large operation instead of directly through a small local company. I received several email and phone communications from Precision before AND after the service. I even received a call on the day of service saying the the tech was running behind schedule, and the tech did not charge us the consult fee because of that, which was nice. They may answer the phone 24/7, but that's about it. Called last night, as we believe our springs broke while we were out. Got a hold of them, took our info, and said next appointment was Tuesday, but then offered a 10pm-11:45pm appointment since our car was inside. No one ever called or showed up, we waited a couple extra hours. Nothing. Called the next morning to see what happened, and ask if we could get someone early to make up for it. Christina didn't apologize, or seem to much care that no one showed - instead reviewed EVERY piece of contact data on our account, placed me on hold for 2-3 min, and then proceeded to explain that it wasn't her fault or dispatch's fault, but that the tech, Nick, just didn't show (which we were already painfully aware of). Ron kull owner of precision garage door in Rochester NY came and gave me an estimate...went well... 3 weeks later I remove my door as discussed with Ron and his guys show up to install...first this I notice is no mask no gloves I was very surprised after being told they were using covid 19 guidelines...then I notice that they parked half on my driveway half on my lawn....not a great start...my garage is pretty full so I had a days work to move things to supply the room needed for install....as discussed with ron during the estimate...we supplied 8 ft from the garage door and a path 5 ft wide the depth of my garage....I was very abrupt with the technician when I saw he was parked half on my lawn....at which point he said we need the rest of the garage emptied because it was raining and they needed room to work....I told him we supplied the room discussed with his boss...at which time he walked to his truck and left....leaving a 16 ft hole in the front of my garage and rain pouring in.... Contacted Ron Kull And was told he was too busy to look today and he was unable to help me... Great job guys... Five minutes into the visit the technician told me that I needed a new garage door opener and that they would install it for $441.00. I told them that I did not have the money then and for that 5 minute visit they charged me a $65 "estimate fee." We called our home owners warranty and Clint Faber was assigned to our project. He showed up on time, introduced himself, and was extremely professional. Clint showed attention to detail, was methodical, and very meticulous. He systematically worked through the problem until he got it fixed. At one point, he reassured me that he would get to the bottom of the problem. Once finished, he picked up the mess, explained what he did, and offered some maintenance tips for the future.
