They did a root canal in 2018, and I came to discover it was done wrong, so I had to do a re-treatment.

The doctor and his team are great and the music in the office soothes you and calms you before you meet the doctor. Great office.

Update: Sep19 2022 Summary:…read moreI rarely write online review... Unless there is something exceptional.. Just get back today from a quick root canal follow up visit with Dr. Burgener @ Wheaton office ... Couldn't be more happier with the result of root canal.( All the issues with tooth were fixed in just one previous visit ) ************************************************************ Below more details: ( For patients whoever want to know more) The Situation with my tooth was complicated (before root canal).. During the first visit , Dr. Burgener immediately point out there was serious Periodental Pocket around the tooth..If it is left untreated.. The tooth probably can not be saved eventually (even after root canal)... From that moment , I realize why she become Excellent Surgeon..(Looking at the root causes of a issue, foresee all other problem in the mouth that will cause future root canal failure...) Gum issues/ Disease is a different function(Periodentist) I was expecting her to say " After Root canal.. Suggest to see Periodentist) But she never say anything like that... To my surprise, As a talented Endodontist, She come up with a creative solution( Special filling with medication to cover the gum area).. So here I am , Within 2 Weeks after root canal.. My Gum @ that Problem tooth area come back( almost fully recovered) As we all know, Periodental pockets / Disease are difficult to treat...and very very slow recovery.. or in certain cases.. Can not be reversed at all. I feel I owe Dr Burgener a Big "Thank you".. She fix both the tooth problem( Root canal) and Periodental issue( Gum Pocket) in one visit for root canal. She is doing extra work( not her function at all) and don't even mention about it...( My original thought was I might need Periodental surgery or at least root scaling and planing with a Periodentist) Really appreciated for her Kindness. ************************************************************* BTW. One of my friend check on me lately and ask me how I am doing after root canal.. During the conversation , We find out we are seeing the same Endodontist(Dr Burgener) I was thrilled to know she drive all the way to Hinsdale ( That is a one hour drive for her..) to see Dr Burgener two years ago for a front tooth root canal.. The minute the two of us find out we are seeing the same doctor. Both of us smiled with a big relief... as we know we are in good hands and get top notch Endodontic care. My friend also give Dr. Burgener Thumbs up.

First visit is a consultation, and I liked him right away--realistic, not rushed, not pushy, and confident. Immediately no longer nervous for actual root canal. There was no pain- none-during the treatment. Only after, which is my own fault for delaying treatment and letting it get so bad! Called to ask a question the next day, and the receptionist immediately spoke to him while I was on hold and got back to me. The reviews are true, he really is the best. Highly recommend!

My initial phone call to schedule an appointment was even a positive experience! The receptionist was friendly, considerate, helpful, and precise describing what I needed to bring and what to expect. Dr. Vince Penesis had extensive knowledge of my autoimmune disease, Sjogren's Syndrome, which is rare to find and necessary given the effects Sjogren's has especially with dry mouth. I was very surprised to find that a 20+ years old filling fell out while flossing on a Saturday night. I felt the small hole in my tooth and immediately started to panic. I had this fear that the entire tooth would fall out and quickly turned to Yelp to find any dentist in the area that would be open on a Sunday. That was when I came across positive reviews for Dr. Baek at Healthy Smile Dental. Their operational hours listed was 9:00AM-3:00 on Sundays so I called at 9:01 pleading to seen. The receptionist was very kind and was able to fit me in at 10:30AM so I quickly rushed over there. They had me seated and took x-rays to show if there was any nerve damage. Dr Baek explained that there was a possibility of another filling falling out since the tooth wasn't as strong from prior fillings and the tooth next to it had a small fracture in a filling. Rather than just patching the problem up temporarily, she gave me a permanent solution that would still save my teeth from potential nerve damage and having to get a root canal down the road. She discussed getting a temporary crown and the process. Throughout the procedure she made sure to check on me and we made a follow up appointment for 3 weeks to complete the procedure. So grateful for a knowledgeable dentist that is open on Sundays!

I have always had an excellent experience at Hidden Lakes Dental…read more I see Dr. Petrilla and my usual hygienist is Melanie. Both are friendly, professional and do excellent work in explaining every procedure that is needed, while making me feel comfortable and alleviating anxiety. I had a recent situation where I needed and implant and the referral as well as entire process and the way it was handled with Dr. Petrilla showed me what a professional yet extremely caring person she is. My last appointment was for the first part of my crown. Both Dr Petrilla and her assistant/hygienist, Cynthia, put me at ease. Cynthia was on top of giving me water rinses and making sure to keep my mouth clear with the suction tool. They are constantly communicating to make sure you stay calm and comfortable. I have had other hygienists at this practice and every single one was friendly and accommodating, while doing a great job with the cleanings. My husband found this practice, and the rest of my family comes here as well. We are referring more and more people here, and everyone is happy with the treatment they are receiving.

Based on that, I was genuinely looking forward to becoming a patient myself. While the staff were kind and the care itself was great, I have to express major concern about how billing and insurance transparency were handled. I'm 30 and relatively new to having health insurance. I've always been cautious--some might say overly cautious--because I've heard too many horror stories about surprise medical bills and unclear insurance coverage. That's why I was very thorough in asking upfront about the cost of my treatment and whether anything might be billed later. I was told clearly that my insurance would not cover the deep cleaning due to a waiting period, which I understood. I made it very clear that I was fine paying out of pocket, but only if the amount I was quoted was the total and that there would be no additional charges later. I double-checked before both of my appointments and even again while paying--each time, I was reassured that the amount I paid was the full and final cost. Then I started receiving conflicting bills. One person told me I owed $325, another said $773, and yet another said $441. This inconsistency is incredibly frustrating and has completely undermined my trust in their billing process. If you're someone like me who needs cost clarity and peace of mind, I would not recommend this office. The care may be great, but the lack of transparency on billing is deeply disappointing. The update is that they recently gave me a treatment plan with all these added numbers and notes on this sheet which is totally different then the ones I've received in person after paying for my services honestly it's kind of ridiculous . Especially when I explicitly asked for transparency and nothing that was written down was spoked to me at all.

Due timing and pain I took the first avail appointment with Dr Wong. I waited one hr for my appointment to start. I could hear Dr Wong w his other patient talking. Sounded like he Spend more time talking about his Telsa, cars, etc versus patient treatment. Which is fine if that patient was ok with. But I am sitting in the next room still waiting for my consult which is already one hour late. Dr. Wong didn't acknowledge or apologize for the long wait. Without looking at my mouth, a 2 sec look at the X-ray rambled a lot of confusing information. He spent more time on making notice of how my hair was done, looking at my shoes, ear rings etc, which became uncomfortable. Dr. Wong was very arrogant, and what he claims is his ice breaker was to ask about my nationality.... He questioned my last name and asked if I was sure my last name was from the ethinicity. Than he questioned if i was married. My nationality is and was irrelevant to the purpose of my visit. He clearly has not had any DEI training. Dr Wong didnt believe his ice breaker is/was culturally insensitive and told me that I was sensitive and he would make note of it. Dr Wong than went to use a common foods in my culture as an analogy to describe my issue. Dr Wong was all over the place explaining the treatment place, bc in the middle of his explaination he kept making comments about my look... which he justified as being "observant". He should be more observant in the care he provides not a persons looks including the items they are wearing. His front desk couldn't explain the itemize bill or what they call care plan Dr Wong was ready to take my tooth out that minute bc they said he was quick and had an opening. They could clearly see I was confused by what was going on. I declined to take action bc I needed to consult my dentist bc I was surprised by Dr Wong saying I had a bacteria eating away at my bone. After thinking over and waiting for the email plan, I called back for an appointment w Dr Jurkas as a 2nd opinion since I had a good and educational experience for my first root canal. I clearly remember Dr J saying why try to save the tooth first. To my surprise Dr Wong called me bc they shared w him that I was not happy w my experience w him and wanted a 2nd opinion. I brought to Dr Wong's attention the above concerns I did not like. Dr Wong was condescending by responding some ppl are slow to understand. I stopped him there and again brought to his attention his rude and unprofessional response. During our call when I brought to his attention the insensitivity of my culture he thought it was ok bc he had a lot of friend in the "x" culture. I than brought to his attention that is not my culture... He clearly was looking at my file picture and again made and assumption. He didn't catch it on his own that he was associating me w another culture when i was telling him what my culture was. Dr Wong was very arrogant and rude to say Dr Jurkas was not going to be able to do the work I needed and that he works under him. Dr Wong response was a narcissist response. I decided to end the call by saying I need To take my services somewhere else. I asked for the email w the recap if his consult I still hadn't received it. 10 min later Dr Wong called me back I sent him to voicemail bc I was working. To my surprise I get a unprofessional text message saying... "I know you are screening calls."To close the loop I acknowledge the email being received: I thought we were done...No he calls me again... now this was starting to be harassment. I picked up the call and just listen to Dr Wong ramble... "I can give you recommendations for a new consultative exam. " Than he started to explain to me what should've happen day one. The worse, worse experience by one Dr Wong. Which is unfortunate bc my experience w Dr J was pleasant. Dr Wong clearly wanted my money versus helping understand what is in my best oral interest
