I got my first rough-haired Griff from Renee over 15 years ago (Chunk). He died at 15, breaking my heart, but was the most wonderful, obedient, loving dog ever. From day one. And I attribute that to him being him raised by Renee. Because it was so long ago, I was able to visit Renee's home and see how she raised her pups (inside her clean home, no cages, with lots of toys and room to play--just like they are part of her family). I say this to defend her against the not nice things said by another reviewer. I understand that post-Covid, home visits are too dangerous to the pups. All throughout Chunk's LONG life, Renee was ALWAYS available to me at a moment's notice to answer questions, discuss concerns, or often she'd just check in through social media. Renee is truly a G-d send. Her knowledge of this breed is unparalleled. Renee is an AKC breeder, Chunk came with an AKC certificate and Heritage Papers and is fully registered with the AKC. After we lost Chunk, we immediately reached out to Renee to get another Griff. This time, we wanted a smooth coat. As usual, Renee, who now works together with another AKC Breeder in Kentucky (Barb (talk about unparalleled knowledge of the breed!!!), who lives in Kentucky), moved heaven and earth to get us the pup we wanted. Within a few months, our new smooth-coat baby girl Lola, who Barb had bred and raised in Kentucky, was ready to come home. I was a little apprehensive because, unlike before, I'd only seen the puppy in photos, and she'd have to come from Kentucky to LA with a flight nanny. My worries were for nothing because the flight nanny was very communicative and sent us tons of photos and updates from the night before and all during the flight and arrived right on time at the airport with my pup in perfect condition. But Barb, Barb, has been an incredible source of information. She is also an AKC breeder. She makes herself available for all questions and has the answer to anything. She sent my pup home with so much information about what to eat, how not to get hypoglycemic (and even had me prepared with meds in case signs showed of it), she sent home food, hydration drops, and anything and everything we could need to know. Lola also came with AKC certification and Heritage Papers. In the first few days, Lola wasn't drinking much, and Barb and Renee were so concerned, constantly calling with suggestions and advice. The amount of love and concern these two women have for the pups they breed is just phenomenal. Precious Paws, with Renee and Barb, is the only way to go if you're looking for a healthy, well-behaved, beautiful Griff. As long as they continue to breed, I will continue to go back. At (now) twelve years old, he's had zero health issues so far, and people tend to be surprised to hear that he's "that old" (see recent pics, taken less than a week ago). If your looking for a Happy, Healthy Brussels Griffon... Look no further. I can tell you that this place is the best place to go for finding that perfect Griffon. I went through a Full Year of research before deciding to go with Renee and her pups. Why did I pick her as a breeder? Well.. she Genuinely cares for the dogs with the the utmost amount of love and respect. I visisted her home before making a deposit on our soon to be new dog, just to check and make sure my worst fears were just that.. unfounded and they were. Her home is open to her dogs and all of them are well treated just as anyone would with their well loved pets. So long story short, I actually ended up getting TWO Griffon pups and could not be happier! These dogs are probably the best decision I've made in a very long time. They are the sweetest natured breed I've ever seen. They are the best little cuddle buddies, they have not one mean bone in their bodies and most importantly, they LOVE to Love you. After getting a B. Griffon (two of em), I honestly can say I don't know if I'll ever get any other kind of dog ever again just because of how well mannered, smart and fun loving they turned out to be. This breeder is not a recognized breeder through AKC nor are they a member of the American Brussels Griffon Association. This alone does not automatically mean they are an irresponsible breeder, but combined with other facts, there is certainly something sketchy about this place. Specifically, the tendency to fly their puppies out of state to sell them, their presence on nextdaypets.com, and their reluctancy to allow potential buyers to visit the places where puppies are residing. Living out of state, it was not an option for me to visit their facilities. I was able to pull up the address on google earth, I added a photo of it to this page. The property has a few different buildings. Of course, I can not be 100% certain, but the property didn't look like an individual's home as they advertise. This further deterred me from them. I also viewed a few of their videos on Facebook and noticed some structures in the background that appear to be kennel runs. Again, can't be 100% certain, but I do encourage all to do their homework before buying from this breeder. I know that what I discovered was plenty to dissuade me. read more

I purchased my Brussels Griffon from Renee. Hazel is two years old now. I'm sad to say my dog has a luxating patella and has been sick since I've had her, she's lethargic and just never acts right. I have had Hazel seen by multiple vets and recently found out she has low cortisol and tumors in both of her eyes. l was informed by a qualified AKC breeder that does all the necessary health screenings that Precious Paws does not do the necessary testing for this breed to rule out health problems. It saddens me to write this. My husband picked up our dog and said Renee seemed to really love the dogs and they seemed well cared for. I just can't in good conscience recommend her because I paid a lot for a sickly dog. read more

I got my first dog, Fletcher, from Renee in July of 2017 and I couldn't be happier. He is a very handsome boy and healthy to boot. His disposition is amazing. This dog loves everyone and always stops to say hi when we're out on walks or at the park. He's great with kids, other dogs and people. Renee is wonderful and truly cares about the dogs. When I picked my puppy up, she was sure to educate me about how to properly care for him. I got to see all the other puppies that were being adopted that day and the adult dogs, running around and playing in a big yard. These dogs are spoiled rotten (as they should be), so please do not worry about it being a puppy mill or anything horrible like that. It's a beautiful home with lots of grass and land for the dogs to play. My understanding is that Renee doesn't allow visits to ensure no nasty bugs/ticks/fleas whatever are brought onto her property. I send Renee pictures of Fletcher as he grows and will probably stay in touch with her for the rest of his life. I don't know what else to say besides this is a fantastic breeder and hurry up and get yourself on her waiting list!!! read more

Not so sure about this business. Based on the previous review I expected to be able to visit the breeder and see griffon parents to make sure this is not a puppy mill. When I reached out to Renee, she advised that a home visit is not possible, and that the pups are flown from out of state to her. Reading through her email, I can't shake the feeling that this is not a dog breeder, but a puppy mill or someone who works with a puppy mill. I will continue to search for a real Belgium Griffon dog breeder. read more

So my wife did a bunch of research before choosing which breed to buy, and then on where to get them. She drove all the way there from San Diego just to make sure it wasn't a puppy mill or anything bad like that, but they were legit. Rene and her husband live there with all their dogs in their home, and after talking to them, it was plain as day that they love and care about all these puppies. They went the extra mile to make sure the pups were taken care completely and wholly. It seemed like a nice place to be a puppy. We've had our puppies now for about 6 months (they're 8 months old), and have had no health problems. They are the absolute sweetest little things. When we see people on the street, they always flip out about how much they love Brussels Griffons and how they think they're the best dogs. I have a lot of friends who are always wary before meeting my pups because they are small dogs and they think my pups will fit the stigma, but they are always like "Wow, I was wrong, your dogs are actually really freakin' cool." My grandparents were also wary beforehand, but quickly changed their minds. Everybody loves these dogs. They only want to please us, When we go to bed, they go to bed, when we get up, they get up. All they want is to be around us. They follow us everywhere and just wanna be in the same room with us. They are super friendly with all the other dogs they've met at the dog park and around town. They have never once snarled or growled or anything. I couldn't be any happier with these pups. They were totally worth it. I highly recommend getting two together, because they are best friends, they play with each other all the time, like when we don't have time to cuddle and play with them. Renee at "Precious Paws" and her partner Barbara are breeding sick animals with birth defects. My first puppy, from her, Violet, died in less than 24 hours after over $2000 in vet bills. My second replacement puppy from her, Zoe, has birth defects, luxating patellas in both knees and hip dysplasia in both hips, not to mention skin allergies. These are hidden defects that don't become a apparent for a few months but causes lifelong pain and vet bills. When my vet saw her for the first time she told me that she had never seen such bad back legs in a puppy. The luxating patella alone cost $5000 each to "fix" for a total of over $10,000 in vet bills within the first year of ownership. Even after all of this Zoe suffers with terrible pain every minute of every day. On top of all of this, Renee and Barbara have refused to provide me with the AKC papers that they refused to give me the day I picked my puppy up. They said, "We will provide AKC papers upon proof of spay." Well, I provided proof of spay a year ago and I still have no papers. I still ask for them the first day of every month even though I know she doesn't have any papers, it's all a huge lie. Precious Paws is breeding dogs with terrible health problems which produces puppies with terrible health problems. I am determined to stop their irresponsible breeding and stopping any other owners and puppies from this terrible suffering. Please find a responsible breeder from the AKC website. Responsible breeders actually have a vet certification of health for the "parents" so as to not pass birth defects on to their puppies. When I knew I was ready to add the joy and love of a Brussels Griffon to my family I started doing my research looking not for the cheapest breeder or on that could get me a puppy as quick as possible but instead I wanted one who cared about each and every griff they brought into this world and that when I found Precious Paws! Rene adores her griffs and took me through the process of adding one to our family. From the get go Rene was a delight to work with and answered every question. When puppies were born she was quick to let me know and even sent pictures. Every life matters to her and even though not all of the pups made it she still kept me informed. Once she had healthy puppies everyone got to pick which one they wanted in the order they were on the list according to when they sent in their deposits. Even though I didn't live near by I still got lots of pictures which only made me fall in love even more with both the puppy I chose and Rene. By the time it came to picking up the puppy the excitement was high. My partner and I made the long drive and went to her house. Located in a peaceful setting, we were greeted with all the griffs playing in her large fenced yard. It was great not only to see all the puppies but all of her adults out enjoying the beautiful day. She had goodie bags, refreshments and made it a real event. Everyone picking up puppies cake on the same day which made it feel like a real party and special occasion. We even did a large group photo with all the new parents and their puppies. It's now nearly 5 years on and my griff is everything's could have wanted and more. The vet has said it's the nicest and healthiest griff he's seen in a long time with a fantastic disposition. We will eventually add more griffs to our family and when we do this is the only breeder I want to work with even if I now live much further away.
