I was the only family member capable to coping. Needless to say it was an awful time involving probates in two different counties, hundreds of important documents to sign , getting up to speed understanding the notoriously unpleasant process of probates, estates, county courts, the commonly hideous prospect of hiring attorneys to deal with horrible situations. Check the horror story regarding Nicholas Jellins, attorney in Menlo Park, CA. In Chico I initially hired Nicole Plottel office and that was an encounter with a non attorney woman named Jo Ann who painted a horrible picture immediately of a prolonged glacially slow process due a defective county government in Chico, and some particularly messy official. I did not trust them at all right from day one, but I was desperate to get it started. Two probates at once: that is a nightmare. That law office seemed like no more than a "hood emblem" on the life of some pretty girl Nicole Plottel not a serious law office. Due to astronomical blessing I also connected with Chico real estate agent: Alisha Simkins. Alisha is a star. Period. She took care of everything swiftly and without a single tiny glitch. Alisha knew Mr. Griffth and made this connection for me as well as well. She "flew over" the Coocoos nest of the Plottel office in her smooth execution of 3 real estate sales. At Griffith and Horn Adam Horn agreed to take this on instead of the Plottel office. Adam was fast and good natured and did not paint any picture of any nightmare like the Harris Plottel office. He completely proved what a total crock of shit that came from the Plottel office and that horror picture from the Plottel office made my life a far worse nightmare than it needed to be because due to circumstances. All I can say is Adam Horn and Mr. Griffith were life savers in a situation that was unbearable and needed top notch easy to communicate with folks who knew how the get thru it with minimum of fuss. Adam Horn and Mr. Griffith and were top notch.

I was forced out of a medical practice after a corporation bought it and required I see more patients per hour. It was beyond what I felt was proper patient-care, and they kept me on for two more years at 4 patients an hour since I was the primary practitioner and had great patient-provider rapport, and it gave the corporation and new graduate time to gauge the amount of visits they could squeeze out of our mostly Medicare retired community. They figured out the metric with the freshly-minted dermatologist who had 50% stake in the practice, fronted by the corporation. Forced out, but with plenty of experience and other practices trying to hire me, I was scooped up by an old colleague. He told me about Patricia, and how the treatment was incongruent with the labor laws. I ended up settling in about 3-months for a sizable amount, and could have rolled the dice and taken it to the labor board and possibly forcing a settlement over three time what I received. Patricia explained to me the pros and cons of going for the long haul, including the customary % of the settlement and penalties due the lawyer after the court hearing, and I felt she could have made out better by battling it out, but encouraged me to take the sizable settlement with minimal representation costs. By the way, the plaintiff hired a well-known San Francisco labor law litigation team, and Patricia had them "on the ropes" from the beginning, and they saw that she knew the law, and advised the plaintiff corporation to settle almost right away. Who knew a smaller town litigator could make big business and a profits first/ patients second corporation and medical provider bend to the laws of the land- Patricia did it. The second time I retained her was when I was going to contract with a local native american tribal clinic, and she said she could look over the contract, but had little faith in a fair dealing if we were to terminate the contract against my will, due to sovereign nation status. When we did sever ties, I wrote it off, as again I was contracted immediately in my specialty by another clinic. I contacted her a third time, and it was regarding the contract they provided to me, which was actually written for a locum tenens facilitator providing temporary help to the clinic. She explained the detail to me in terms I completely understood, wrote up a new independent contractor agreement that the clinic immediately agreed to, and also agreed that it protected both myself and the clinic from future issues. I consider it, along with the other two cases she defended or advised me for my agreeing to terms, to be money well-spent. I will always confer with her in my labor law issues.

I have been meaning to write a review about Mr. Chaplin for over a year now and recently returning…read moreback to court has reminded me to finally get on here and say everything I have been wanting to say for anyone seeking help in family law. For the purpose of protecting loved ones and keeping their anonymity, I'm not going to share the details of how Mr. Chaplin helped me, but I'm happily going to share how amazingly I was represented. I was going through the worst time in my life and had never been near a courtroom, let alone have to fight for my child in one (a parent's worst nightmare). I started my case by using the self-help department in the Butte County Courthouse to file an emergency custody order for my 2.5 year old son. I was awarded the temporary sole legal and physical custody until determination on the court order in my future hearing. I was scared, nervous and overwhelmed and knew I had to hire an attorney. I was working 3 jobs at the time and didn't have a lot of money, but I was hoping I would find someone who would care enough to give me a chance. I went to two initial consultations with different attorneys and walking away, I didn't have the reassurance I needed. I then called Mr. Chaplin's office and spoke to his assistant at the time, Laney. Laney listened to my whole story, gave me some confidence and explained the process of what I was looking at. Laney is the reason why I spent the money I definitely didn't have on one last initial consultation. Mr. Chaplin was empathetic, he was patient, kind, professional and very thorough in his explanations. I retained Mr. Chaplin as my attorney, not only because he seemed to really know what he was doing, but more importantly because he seemed invested in my case. Any attorney can recite legal codes and laws, but it is extremely rare to find one who cares about the outcome and effect it will have on their client's life. Mr. Chaplin and I have been to court numerous times now and I have continued to have sole legal and physical custody of my son. When I found out I had to return to court after the biological father being gone for over a year, I had been emailing my concerns to his assistant, Shannon. I then received an email from Mr. Chaplin saying how he knew I'd be worried and scared and to not worry until I met with him the following Monday. He said he just wanted to check in with me before the weekend so that he could put my mind at ease a bit instead of me worrying for three days with all of the worst case scenarios in my mind. I cannot emphasize enough how very thankful I am that Mr. Chaplin is my attorney. He goes above and beyond in every way, even stumping the judge sometimes with legal codes that she doesn't know, but he spouts out right off the top of his head. His assistant Shannon responds to all of my crazy, anxiety ridden emails even if she is sick at home with her kid, there is never a message that goes more than a couple of hours without a response. My declarations are already written for me by the time I show up to the appointment and they are better than I could ever come up with. When I am sitting in court as nervous as can be, Mr. Chaplin always looks at me and does a small wave as a kind gesture and reassurance. I will never be able to truly put into words just how blessed and grateful that I am for the amazing job Mr. Chaplin and his team have done for my son and I. My son remains safe because I have the best attorney fighting for us. When I am strapped financially, they are so understanding and patient without any change in how he represents me at all. I am so thankful for the dedication, time and sincerity of this legal team. What other attorney tells his client even after the court days are over to still check in with him and let him know how things are going with visitation and the criminal case relating to my family? Mr. Chaplin goes the extra step and truly cares about the justice deserved. I will always sing nothing but praises and thanks for this attorney and will refer everyone to him if they need someone who will be in their corner, standing right beside them, fighting the entire time.
