Found this salon pretentious and very unwelcoming. Worst massage I've ever had. Would never return.

I don't tan, I come out in a rash…read more As such, I tend to avoid too much sunlight, and as a result I am about 10 shades whiter than a ghost. It's all true. You can see my veins. In any event, a very important day is coming up in a week or so, and as a result, I thought it would be jolly if I had a healthy glow, and hoped that some exposure to UV rays would stop me rashing away whilst on the extra special holiday (my honeymoon to the classy costa del sol!) I decided to visit The Tanning Shop as it's a nationwide chain, and I didnt fancy going into one of the un-manned, coin operated sun booth shops (such as those places which have appeared on the news, having cooked a couple of naive teenagers). I was greeted by a reasonably friendly girl, who exuded a healthy orange glow. I had to fill out a questionnaire to deduce my skin type, and so that she could recommend the best sun bed for me. As it turned out, the best sun bed for me was the Sun Angel. The most expensive one. To be fair, it is rather swish. The sun bed has a comfort cooling system, and adjustable face and body fans. It also has a a aromatherapy mist that spurts out every couple of minutes to make you extra cool and refreshed. There is also a very loud, aggressive voice guide which starts to grate after a while, but for those with poor vision, is very useful indeed (i don't wear my glasses on the sunbed, in case they channel the UV rays and burn me like an ant). Anyway. After two trips to the Sun Angel, I visited again on Tuesday. I burst in the door and said, 'I'm getting married next week. I need to be brown. I have been on the sun bed twice. Why am I not brown?' The orange girl tutted, and explained I needed a couple more sessions, as two really wasnt enough. I ended up buying 5 sessions for £40, which saves you £10, and after my 3rd baking session, I can really notice a difference. Although the Tanning Shop is not the cheapest venue, at least it is manned by friendly, helpful staff, who do have some idea of what they're talking about, so it is perfect for those who have had no experience of non-sun-bathing. Hurray for me, and hurray for my day-glo skin!

It is as cheesy as its name but might that appeal to the fake-tanners? This place is adequately supplied with well thumbed copies of Closer and Now magzine for those moments in which you have to wait and has every type of tanning available. Ok so I thought I'd give it a go in the depths of winter but only for a few minutes on a sun bed. I did not want to glow orange like those girls I see hobbling into town Friday night so would never go for a spray-tan. I have always been scared of getting trapped in a sun bed and getting terribly burnt - I think it was on a horror movie once - but this really was like having 5 minutes in Barbados, as my Scouse mate used to say. I would not advocate over use and I didn't really get a tan from one go but it was like slipping into a warm, dry bath. Perfect of a dark, damp winters day.

Good boost to stave of those cold, dark and damp winter days. Lovely, discrete and helpful staff.I am quite pale skinned so I usually have several short bursts over a few weeks to avoid burning. Never had a problem and always seek advice from the staff before a session.

At Renaissance Hair in Leed, I received what can only be described as five star client service! I was late for my appointment and they were so accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Liz stepped in to cut my hair which was a restyle and she did a fantastic job, providing exactly what I asked for and it's a long time since I walked away from z salon with a genuine smile on my face. They are a little pricey, but I didn't mind paying as the cut, and their treatment of me was worth every penny. I will definitely be back soon. Give them a try, I'm convinced you'll also walk away happy!!! 10/10 from me!

While living in Leeds, I've flitted from salon to salon on a budget, never really ending up completely happy with my haircut or hairdresser. One day after looking at Google reviews, I decided to give Renaissance a try, and boy am I glad I did! I was booked in with George, who asked me loads of questions about what I wanted, what I did and didn't like about my hair, how I style it, etc. George was really friendly, offered to get me a drink (including wine or beer - how good is that?!), and just completely made me feel at ease. I was really happy with my hair when George had finished - it looked exactly like I had in mind. I've been back several times now and been really happy each time, it finally looks like I can stop flitting from salon to salon! It wasn't expensive either, though I think it's recently increased to around £34.
