It seems that the buses cannot park right by the hotel. If you wanted to walk into town, you had to go back out and walk another 10 minutes, and it was a bit confusing as to which way was town center. We gave up after going into several streets and decided it wasn't worth it at that hour. We had a buffet dinner tonight at the hotel and the food was decent. Hotel had popcorn near Reception area. No water heater for coffee/tea, no body lotion, I'm almost 6' tall and had to stretch to reach the hangers in the hallway closet! Room was spacious. Nice views from room Staff was courteous and accommodating.

The on-site restaurant is Michelin level cuisine. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. Even when Evora is suffering a heat wave, this is a comfortable place to be. You can soak in a pool and order food and cocktails (as well as the obligatory local wines) poolside. It is a 10 min walk to the Roman temple and other sites.

There, Miguel walked us through the city's highlights and made a dinner reservation for us. The room was spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view outside. The complimentary breakfast was incredible! A mix of cold and made to order options that were all superb. I enjoyed local produce, including figs, pumpkin jam, bee pollen, yogurt, eggs, and bacon. The omelette was delicious, as were the pastries. Later in the day, we enjoyed a lovely lunch while sitting at their outdoor patio area. Such a perfect little place in a charming city! I felt each coil on my body. The place is older , but kept & clean. Trucks are not allowed inside the castle walls, so many tourist has to carry in their luggage. Void of any Portuguese personality including decor (tiles, what's that?), it is basic and functional depending on your wants and needs. Located just outside of old town (within walking distance), the location and room layout worked for us. However, if you are sharing a room with a friend, know that the bathroom layout is different. Namely, there is no bathroom. There is a separate sink, a stall for the toilet, and a stall for the shower. Coming out of the shower can be awkward. (Fellow tour mates complained about this.) Unlike the three previous Portuguese brand hotels where we stayed, this is the first hotel without robes and slippers for guests; the robes could have lessened the awkwardness. The room size is comfortable with enough space to spread out our luggages and bags. The overall rating would have been 3.5 stars. But I rounded up to 4 stars after visiting their 4th floor diner, pool area. The diner offered both Portuguese dishes (try the pork sandwich) and American dishes. We ordered the Club Sandwich; it must be Portuguese style cuz it's a grill cheese looking sandwich (not recommend). Prices were reasonable for hotel food. The pool is a modest infinity pool, not bad for a 'Garden Inn' level pool.

They also gave us a little history on this hotel, which she used to be a non-convent for monks and nuns. I was built in the 15th century and the room used to be monks cells. I love history so I very much appreciate it hearing about this! The hotel is located right in the center of everything so you can walk everywhere. Right next to it our Roman ruins from BC. If you love history, this is for you.
