more classic diner decor
Nathan H.

First of all, I love an old classic diner and Post Road Diner is in great shape and being worked on to make it even better. The diner has comfortable retro feel, but updated appropriately. I ordered Turkey & dressing w/ mashed potatoes and gravy on all of it. My appetizer choice was chicken noodle soup. I had iced tea and water, and finished w/ fantastic pecan pie alamode. My waiter was prompt to greet me, answer questions on the menu, and all the stuff a waiter should do. I really enjoyed my dinner at Post Road Diner. I would give it a 4.5 but not quite a 5.

This was our second time brunching with my daughter and her family at the Post road Diner. Much like the prototypical diner, it is done over in stainless steel and brick, they have a counter with stools, many tables & booths, period decor, an expansive menu, and holiday specials. I had their Chicken & Waffles, and my lovely wife had their 4th of July Pancakes - three large hotcakes layered with fresh blueberries & strawberries, topped with whipped cream. Neither one of us could come close to finishing! Everyone, from the hostess to the serving staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. This will be our official go-to brunch place in the Norwalk area. If I had to come up with anything not positive, it's that the parking can be a little tight. That's it.

Really good retro style diner! Standard diner fare as well as dishes with a Latino twist! Highly recommend.

If you're looking for a unique experience that takes you back to the disco era, Post Road Diner is the perfect place! From the moment you step in, the seats, the jukebox, and the décor make you feel like you're in the 70s. It's a true time travel experience. I ordered a breakfast with gallo pinto, and it was delicious. The combination of authentic flavors and impeccable presentation made my meal a delight. I highly recommend this place, not only for its excellent food but also for the nostalgic and fun atmosphere. Don't miss it!

Amazing spot! Again, did my usual, searched on this amazing app, put what I had a taste for and BAM The staff was great and Hands down, worth every penny. I'm very particular about my bacon and they delivered 102% man, if you knew me I'm SPECIFIC about my bacon. They OVER DELIVERED on my bacon

I have always loved going to the PRD since I was young. The food is always very good and it's always served nice and fresh every time. The employees are always there to greet you, and always smiling. We get seated quickly every time. They are very kind and caring. Inside the diner, there is always such a vibrant atmosphere. I would definitely recommend going to the Post Road Diner if you are ever in Norwalk, Connecticut!

Cute small little place. Nothing to crave over but the food was good. Service was good. Didn't blow me away. But I did love the interior and feel of the diner and atmosphere

Two eggs over easy

Everything was really good! We ordered chicken pot pie, corned beef with cabbage, eggs easy over and a Cobb salad. Each dish was well seasoned and came out piping hot. The chicken pie filling had the right proportion of chicken with veggies, and the crust was scrumptious. Tho I wish the crust had a bit more salt. Having said that the crust texture was extraordinary with flakiness and texture. The corned beef with cabbage was accompanied with carrots and potatoes- enough for 2-3 persons. The eggs came with strips of bacon and toast was just perfect. And the Cobb salad was fresh and packed with avocados, eggs, chicken, bacon and blue cheese- it was a sight to behold. Everyone oohed and ahhhed when it was brought to the table. The portion size were humongous as you would expect with an authentic diner. Our server was attentive and very professional- constantly refilling our water and he asked if our entrees were acceptable. On route to or from Boston or NY along the 95- you won't be disappointed if you stopped here for your meal. Really one of the best diners around- trust me- I am pretty picky !

Cannoli French toast with a side of Home Fries

We stopped by this diner on our way home from a wedding. The inside of the diner gives off a retro feel which I enjoyed compared the various diners that are changing their interior to be more "modern". We were seated quickly and our orders were taken promptly as well. Our waitress was extremely friendly and seemed to have a good relationship with some of the locals who frequent the establishment. I ordered the Cannoli French toast with a side order of home fries and my boyfriend got an egg white omelette. The food tasted good and I loved how the home fries were cook. They were flavorful and soft without being too crispy, which is how I prefer my home fries. The cannoli French toast was pretty good as well. I originally thought it was going to be heavy, but I didn't find that to be the case at all. If you're looking for a diner in the area, try this place out!

Super surprised that it wasn't slammed. We walked right in at lunch time and were just about the only ones there. The menu is overwhelming. I feel like I'd need to eat here for like a month straight to actually try everything that I want to. My son eats like a bird so he stuck to the "basic" menu and got the cookies and cream waffle. That was breakfast, lunch and dessert all in one. They did not skip on the crushed oreos. My daughter and I needed to see some of the viral dishes for ourselves so we stuck to the Social Media section of the menu. She got the Fried Chicken Mac N Cheese burrito and I got the Smash Wrap. Neither one of us finished even half of our mains. They are huge! Bigger isn't always better but the quality was not lost in the size. They were also delicious. We both loved the mac n cheese filling. Our waitress was super sweet and when she found out we were traveling, she threw in some complimentary "famous" cinnamon sugar donuts for the ride. I forgot to get a pic of those, but they were nice and fresh, even after we waited a few hours before eating them because we just about rolled out of there after eating so much. We will have to stop back in another time to share one of the gigantic milkshakes.

Today was the first time we've eaten here in years. We were seated immediately but we waited more than 40 minutes for the food to come. We watched people leave because they could not wait for their food any longer. At first, I thought a chef must have called out. When our food finally came, I was forced to look at the most unappealing home fries that were molded to the plastic container they were stored in. At least try to make them look fresh bru. And the whole restaurant was cold. I was cold. The food was cold. This place should be called COLD Street Diner, am I right? And the coffee refill came like once. In the whole hour and a half we were there. The only times someone would walk by was to clear a table, or that guy idk who he is idk if he's the owner but he was wearing balenciaga sweatpants and then he would just go stand by the register to sip on some wine. My mother ordered the huevos rancheros and they were bland asl. I ordered the birria omelette and it was BLAND EVERYTHING WAS BLAND!!! The birria was just wet it didn't taste like anything bro. We haven't been to the Norwalk location but a lady sitting next to us noticed that we weren't happy with our food and she was speculating that all the good cooks got transferred there. Whether it's the cooks to blame, or the fact that it's a busy Saturday, it's safe to say we will not be coming back.

It was quite busy when we arrived on a late Sunday a.m. in January. Tables were filled and there was a line for ordering. We stuck it out and the food was at our table in less than 20 mins. The sandwiches were ooey gooey toasted cheesiness and paired perfectly with the creamy tomato soup. It came with a lighty dressed arugula salad. I had a freshly brewed ice tea and my dining partner got a Dr. Brown's soda. The breakfast rush was soon over but people were still coming in to eat and grab take out while we enjoyed our meals. They also offer beers and wines and hot chocolate. The entire place was very clean, including the restrooms, although I did not see any table wiping going on. Staff were smiling and polite. Plenty of parking in lot shared with other business.

Damn what a night this has been!…read more So a friend and I decided to come eat here after going to a funeral visitation for a co-worker. It was the first time in 18 years I had been to anything funeral-related, but harkening back to my childhood, we'd have food after funeral services to celebrate the life of the lost loved one, so it was a piece of me I wanted to share with my friend. Another thing that contributed to my wanting to come here is that this is a place I've been wanting to come to ever since this restaurant opened, and it went doubly so when it was named the Best Restaurant in Connecticut for 2024. The fact I finally got to go in of itself was a blessing, and I have to say that I am glad we came here. We were seated immediately upon arrival, and service was quick from start to finish. Our waiter was excellent. He was great making recommendations in effort to get us to save some money, took any questions we had with a smile, and made ordering an easy-peasy affair. Ambiance was very casual, great for any occasion really. If I ever had a date and this was where they took me, I'd be wanting a second date already. They're great for family get-togethers too. Oh, and the bathroom walls made me laugh with their witty one-liners like "Don't be a Gherk" or "Just Dill With It". So based on the recommendations we were given, we shared both of the appetizers we'd ordered: the fried pickles and the biscuits and fix-in's. The fried pickles that this place is known for were really good, very comparable to what you might get from a true Southern state. It comes with a spicy mayo, and paired together, it's divine! The biscuits & fix-ins are two large biscuits accompanied by four types of butter: salted, maple, vanilla, and the strawberry. They were all good, but we both agreed that the vanilla one was out-of-this-world, and the maple one had an authentic Vermonter taste to it. The strawberry one tastes like a strawberry cream cheese which is a good thing here, and even the salted butter was good. We each also got an entree, and I was the only one who ordered a drink. My friend had the Classic Mac & Cheese, and I had the Southwest Meat Platter as well as a Dirty Aphrodite. I love me some good ribs when I eat Southern food, and having the meats all in one, I couldn't say no to that. If I'm being honest, I came close to picking the Kentucky Porch Sipper for my drink, but the call of the Dirty Aphrodite was too big to ignore. And boy oh boy do they make the combination of pickle brine and vodka work with this drink! I don't think I've ever had vodka quite like that before, but Jacob's Pickles does it so well here! The entrees were also great. I saw the cheese pulls as my friend ate and I could tell I probably would have enjoyed that version of the classic dish. As for my dish, the ribs were tender and fell clean off the bone, tasted like a true BBQ wonder. The pulled pork was succulent, ratioed perfectly so nothing overpowers in the dish. The sausage tasted superb. The Nashville Hot Chicken was crispy, juicy, spicy without being overwhelming. The Pickle Slaw was some good Slaw. Is it the best I've ever had? No. But it's competent and definitely deserves to be called a slaw. Jalapeños and corn were great, and I even got another buttermilk biscuit to use the remaining butter we didn't use on our appetizers. All-in-all, one of the best outings I've had in a while. I mean it when I say this: Jacob's Pickles is a MUST-GO! It's that good! You won't regret it.

(Visited 3/11) Ambiance [4/5]: Minimalist style design, it's nice, Theres also pretty lighting and a good amount of seating with an open bar as well. Food: Trix latte w/ whole milk (seasonal): [4/5] Tastes like a bowl of cereal from a cup. Topped with whipped cream it's really delicious! Tastes like a cup of childhood. Theres a good anount of cereal in the cup alongside the ice so it feels like you get a good amount of sips before the drink is done. Other than that it's still pretty good nonetheless. Sin-A-Bun: [5/5] This is very delicious, it's a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The smokiness from the bacon surprisingly compliments the cinnamon roll buns. Good concept and executed perfectly. If there were an option i'd choose that over having it on the side. Surprisingly I didn't notice it on the side on the sandwich until I was half way through. Still delicious though. Challah french toast [5/5] Tasty and sweet. You can't go wrong with french toast. I added strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and Nutella drizzle (each topping is $3 extra). It was worth the price it was delicious. It came with a side of butter which compliments the sweetness of the toast and some syrup. I didn't use much of the syrup but it was still delicious when I did decide to use it! I wouldn't order this because for delivery because its one of those things that taste so much better fresh in front of you rather than waiting to he dropped off. Service: [5/5] Fast and efficient service! The restaurant works as a team. One man sat me, The middle eastern girl with the long sleeve black shirt took my order and checked on me, and the white boy with the arm tattoos and pen between his ear checked on me at times, and cleaned my table while the girl was busy. After they became aware of the availability of a large space restaurant in the city of Norwalk, the restaurant migrated to its present spot. LOCATION: The restaurant is in a lively location, with a movie theater across the street and a convenient parking lot in the back. ATMOSPHERE: The space, which is divided by walls into three dining areas, has a "shabby chic" aesthetic and is lit by tall and wide paned industrial windows. EXPERIENCE: I've visited for brunch and Happy Hour with friends who live or work in Norwalk. Chef Taibe is creative and skillful, and I'm forever impressed by the dishes he serves. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the restaurant was recognized as best in Fairfield County during the Connecticut Restaurant Association's 2023 Crazies award ceremony. (Chef Taibe was finalist for best chef in all of the state the very same year.) The pimento cheese starter topped with Benton ham jam (happy hour/dinner) and smoked brisket hash (brunch) highlight how Chef Jeff Taibe transforms and elevates common menu items into ones that are memorable and crave-inducing. It appears that walk ins are always seated in bar dining area, regardless of whether the central dining area appears free.
