Great diner in the sprawling suburban part of Norwalk. Hubby and I came here around noon and got a table quickly. They have a varied menu- across you know, breakfast, lunch, etc. I had the specialty very fresh omelet - pesto, broccoli, zucchini, riccotta. Interesting flavor, great culmination of veggies, strong and fresh pesto.. it was the right portion and quite light. It was really nice. Nice breakfast potatoes with it. Prices were also fair around $10+.. unlike our local diner Elm, here in Stamford which is also great, but definitely more in the $12+ range. Good coffee, plenty of coffee and water refills medium service. Hubby ordered his usual- the Western omelet which he said he enjoyed a lot. I'd definitely come back for breakfast for another omelet or pancakes. Used to love to go to this diner. Ate there yesterday. When we left we saw my truck getting towed. Apparently you can't park in the Best Buy parking lot anymore. From what I learned, the owner of the diner knows this and is not letting any of their customers know. It cost me $111 to get my truck. We will no longer eat there. Very disappointed that they don't care enough about their customers to inform them of the change in parking. Especially since everyone has parked there for years. read more

I came on yelp to find a diner as I am not from Norwalk. This one had the most reviews and stars therefore the group I was with agreed to try this one. And this is why I'm giving this place two stars. 1. Pricing I was surprised when I arrived & began looking at the prices, the prices were considerably high being that this was a diner. A "cheeseburger" didn't come with fries, lettuce and tomato as that was considered a delux. Two people in my party ordered the delux as one of them ordered the regular one & on his plate was just the bun, meat and cheese. As well as a pickle and ONE fry. Like what?? 2. Service I had ordered a veggie pizza and wanted to add chicken (4$ extra). I said it was fine. When my pizza arrived, no chicken. When I addressed this with our waitress she said that she had thought I declined the chicken (miscommunication happens). I only bring this up because It just came across as she knew I wanted the chicken and forget to write it down but played it off as if I said I didn't want the chicken. She also didn't come around to our table very often. I was in need of some napkins and she just never came around asking if we needed anything. Not to mention that our table was right across the desk she would be standing at. When one person in my party approached her asking for napkins, rather her bringing it to us she just told her to grab some from the work counter. 3. Miscommunication We were never told that split checks were not allowed when we arrived. Also we were not told that there would be 18% gratuity included for our party. I am pretty sure that is only the case for larger parties. Positives ....... The restaurant is actually really cute and the pizza I had was really good (even without the chicken). I used to love this place. we loved the quaint atmosphere and the retro vibes. however today when we decided to take another long trip from nyc to Connecticut and visit our spot it was an epic fail. our waiter was a young kid who paid us little to no attention. we ordered two of the same plates and he comes out with 1 order. why on earth would two grown adults share 2 pieces of French toast. needless to say I had to wait to get my order and he wasn't even apologetic about it. then we had this waitress giving us funny looks as if he went back there and told them. tbh I didnt even want to eat the food after that. imagine going to another state on date night and having it ruined. the home fries looked uncooked and gross. My family stopped in Norwalk for an overnight on a road trip. We used Google to find a place for breakfast but upon arrival it was closed. A second Google search brought us to Post Road. The normal breakfast menu was completely run of the mill and uninspiring. But then we looked at the "specials" menu. Wow. Just, wow. So many neat and wonderful breakfast items. My wife had Oreo waffles with ice cream and caramel sauce. My daughter had cannoli french toast, and I cheeseburger eggs Benedict. All were fantastic. Small but phenomenal place! It is truly an authentic diner, quite nicely done from inside. We went back here after almost 4 years and found it to be as great as it was back then. We took smoked pastrami, tuna melt and cheese ravioli. All 3 dishes were awesome; not to forget the delicious chocolate and strawberry milkshakes! Pastrami couldn't be better on a toasted rye bread. We came back for dinner. I was less impressed with the food (more of what I'd expect from a diner). We got fried mac& cheese wedges which were pretty good. I got a burger and fries, both of which were kind of bland, and I tried a bite of the grilled cheese which was pretty good. We also got a chocolate peanut butter milk shake which was delicious. My favorite diner ever. I think of this place like another home. I came here all throughout high school after concerts, football games and plays. They're the best and I will always have fond memories of this place. I've tried a bunch of things on their menu and I've never disliked anything! I love their French onion soup - it's cheesy, savory and delicious. I love their meatloaf grinder sandwich - comfort food on a roll. Their omelettes, pancakes and French toast are amazing! All delicious. Their salads are fresh and original. The buffalo chicken salad is awesome. They make awesome burgers and sliders! They're cooked to perfection and taste great! And their French fries are crispy and addictive! For dessert, their milkshakes are out of this world. The Oreo is my favorite. Their pies are great as well! I love the peanut butter pie. There were some people in there enjoying the same tired old scrambled-egg-and-(insert salted pork product) breakfast complete with mass-produced griddlecakes. I wanna preface by saying this, I've gone here for years and have had great services in the past. Recently however, I've had horrible experiences that has changed my opinion on the place. This time, the service treated my son and I horribly because we decided to move seats at the booth for a little more room. We were then ignored by the staff who were clearly annoyed that we moved. Their was one women in particular who made sure to show us that she didn't want to deal with us. She was possibly the manager and felt as though the people were a bother to her. She was like that person at a party who kills the mood by bringing up politics and religion and then gets mad at everyone for not wanting to talk about it. Upon finishing, I declared my California omelet the best breakfast food I had all year. Then I realized it was January first and that statement really didn't merit anything but it was a damn good omelet worthy of praise none the less. From the surface, Post Road strikes you as a typical diner, complete with an endless menu of breakfast, Greek, and other greasy spoon favorites, bizarre memorabilia from the 50s and a quirky ensemble of servers and patrons. Make no mistake of it, Post Road is far from typical. A Few oddities that I noticed: -You can either order from the "omelet" menu or the "unique omelet" menu. Poor, little, boring, non unique omelets. -Orange juice is tiny-pretty much comes in a shot glass. -Specials menu is interesting and lengthy and offered eggs Benedict on a waffle. You can have your cake and eat it too. Speaking of cake... -Extensive cake menu. You can order about fifteen different kinds of cake. I like that. The Post Road Diner: Cozy, Cute, and just like momma used to make! Now some of you may see this review and go "three stars and eh diner" well think again. If there was the option for a three and a half on yelp this eatery would surely have it. Now this restaurant has its ups and downs and a definite down is the size. I came here with a group of seven gentleman including myself and we were packed to the britches. There was no room for drinks, menu, or food. Keep in mind that you most likely won't be coming with such a large crowd, so it won't be so bad for you. Besides the claustrophobic space everything else was amazing. First off, it's in Norwalk city of dreams. The scenery and surrounding atmosphere make this place what it is. Don't even get me started on how good the food was... Finger licking good!! Chili cheese fries! Other menu items are great, but I can't help always ordering some CCF's. The pizza, well, it depends on who's making it that day. Stopped here with the family on our way north. All the food we had was very good - the broth in the French onion soup was very flavorful. The only issue we had was the hum. If you're sensitive to cyclical hums (60Hz hum for instance), you might want to go elsewhere. Took a while to figure out what the issue was, but there is a perceptible hum that permeates the place (generator? old machine? Compressor?) It's much worse in the back. The employees don't seem to feel/hear it, but the manager knows it exists. They nicely moved us to a quieter location, but it wasn't gone. Stopped in here for dinner on a Thursday night, based on the 4 star rating on yelp. Decent crowd and friendly, classic diner decor. I ordered the penne vodka and Shirley Temple. My dad ordered the corn beef and cabbage. I thought the prices were a bit pricey, for a diner. $15 for the pasta and $17 for the corn beef special. Each entree included a salad. A few problems with our meal. We realized we didn't receive a bread basket until the end of our meal, when we saw new customers receiving their bread for their table. The waiter forgot my dad ordered French dressing for his house salad and brought him the house dressing first, but replaced it quickly. My pasta was quite delicious, a nice large portion. However, my dad found his meal nearly inedible. His corn beef was sliced extremely thin and were a bit dry. His potatoes were flavorless and his carrots and cabbage were very oily. As a New Jerseyite who occasionally finds himself misplaced in Connecticut while visiting friends (often battling a hangover from the night before), I've often found myself eating at the Post Road Diner. Now, not to toot our own horns, but Jersey is the "diner state", with more diners per capita than trees - we know what a good diner is, and which to stay away from. PRD falls squarely into the first category. Frankly, I was surprised the first time I went here, since I expected a diner in suburbia, Connecticut to be mediocre at best. The service was friendly and fast, the coffee was decent, the prices fair (although on the upper side of fair), and portions generous. The food itself was downright tasty, too, and I almost always go for the same thing - a big hot mess of a breakfast called the "PRD Breakfast Casserole", which is full of meat, potatoes, and eggs, along with the rest of the kitchen pantry. The downsides is that this place is *TINY*. If you come here on a Sunday like I somehow always find myself doing, be prepared to wait for a while since it seems to be the hot spot for all the old folks and religious nuts. The wait typically goes fast enough, although I've gone here and waited over 30 mins for a table before. Also, the bathroom size reflects the rest of the diner - small - so there can be a line for this as well. All things considered, it's a pretty great diner, and one I'm sure I'll be back to again. read more

This place is much better than your average diner. Went here for lunch after flying into Westchester and before some errands in Fairfield. It's just a minute or two off the Lodge, so very easy to get to. I got the thanksgiving sandwich, which was turkey, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce on a pita. I had midding expectations going in, and the sandwich surpassed them. The pita was nicely toasted, a huge pile of turkey, good stuffing, good gravy, and the cranberry sauce gave the whole thing a nice kick and the gravy gave it some moisture. What pleased me most was how light the sandwich was. The gravy wasn't heavy and neither was the stuffing. I felt full after the meal but certainly not bloated. I'd have no problem getting that sandwich again. Everything else about the diner was good as well. Our waitress was very friendly and checked on us multiple times to make sure everything was good. Great diner with an extensive menu and cool decor! The food was excellent; we had breakfast and sandwiches in our group and both were phenomenal and portions were quite generous and everything came in a timely manner. It can get crowded, and while we were lucky enough to find stools at the counter, by the time we were leaving on a Saturday night there was quite a line to get in. Parking can be a bit tricky as there are not a lot of spaces right in front, but you can park in the lot behind the diner and walk through. With the reviews, I thought eveything would be really good. My whole families food was great but my eggplant parm grinder was not good. The eggplant was thickly breaded, mushy, and had a very strong taste of a frier that badly needed a change. And virtually no tomato sauce. It was gross lol. This is my favorite diner. Quality of the food that comes out anytime of the day is always above any diner food you will get. I love their hashbrown for breakfast and they use to make the home made turkey sausages that were out of this world. The chocolate peacan pie is one of my favorite and I have to bring one home to eat for later. I also love their soups - chicken noodle, chicken rice, onion soup - all taste that they are made fresh. Lunch and Dinner are equally as good. Their specials are made well. Price is also very reasonable. I love their wait staff... very attentive, very accomdating, very sweet and friendly. If there is something that is not to your satisfaction, the fix and change it right away. Excellent service. :) We went to sugar & olives for a special b-day brunch but totally regret that we went there - the PRD has better food, better service, better wait time than them. read more

This is not a diner...this is an excellent restaurant. The Post Road Diner in Norwalk, CT is delicious! I usually go to a diner when I'm desperate, and the only thing I can order is eggs. All the other food is of such low quality, and a salad would be iceberg and orange tomatoes. NOT AT POST ROAD! At Post Road there are so many delicious choices I have a hard time deciding what to get! This place has better quality food than most fancy restaurants I go to. The last time we were there we had the French onion soup which was the best soup I have ever had! (The pic of the soup doesn't do it justice b/c I ate all the cheese before I thought about writing this review.) the cheese cake was like 2 sticks-a-butta, so creamy and rich!
